How is AFMC better than AIIMS Delhi?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : May 30th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

While the majority of medical aspirants would prefer AIIMS over AFMC, my sister was a different breed and was adamant about AFMC. Here are a few pros she shared of AFMC that made her choose it over AIIMS.

  • The doctors here are relatively healthy and fit unlike AIIMS doctors that are always sleep-deprived
  • Because of less competition, you are assured of a PG seat.
  • The small batch results in a close-knitted family and you always have downtime to help you in your time of need.
  • The mess etiquettes here are very unique and you will end up loving the food here.
  • Every sport and hobby is promoted here through a number of clubs Name any sport or hobby.
  • Pune has been declared as the happiest city in Maharashtra in India. You get to experience the beautiful city life and Mumbai is not far away.
  • The classroom lectures are well delivered by ever-present professors.

These are some points that make AFMC unique in contrast to AIIMS.

How do VIT and Thapar compare?

AR
Adarsh Roy Posted On : August 11th, 2021
Studied at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

I have a few friends from both VIT and Thapar. I will suggest you opt for Thapar University as it is one of the best colleges in this league.

Admission:

VIT and Thapar University both conduct an entrance examination for the selection of their candidates. However, VIT does not reveal the scores obtained by the candidates. At Thapar, admission is done on the basis of JEE Main marks. Moreover, both the admission and counseling procedure are translucent and there is no Management Quota. At VIT one can get admission on the basis of the category system whereas, at Thapar, the quality (merit-based) is given more preference.

Batch Size:

The number of students at Thapar University per branch is less in comparison to VIT where there is a crowd on a huge level.

FCCS System:

At Thapar FCCS system is present. It is a system that allows the students to choose the timings of their own classes and the respective teachers for those classes.

Although the facilities provided to the students at the VIT campus are exceptional you should not risk your academic career for mere facilities.

You should rather prioritize Thapar and try for a branch of your choice. If you do not get into it then opting for VIT would be better. But keep VIT as your second option.

Which of these colleges is better for computer science: BIT Mesra or IIIT Delhi?

AD
Arohi Dasgupta Posted On : April 13th, 2022
studied at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi

Among these, IIIT Delhi is the better choice for a Computer Science degree. It is a research institute, so you will get to learn through hands-on experience, and projects, rather than just theory. IIIT Delhi CSE syllabus puts more emphasis on core subjects. You will study subjects like Intro to Programming, and Systems Management, from the first year itself.

The programming community at IIIT Delhi is amazing. They have clubs like Byld and Foobar. IIIT Delhi will offer you endless opportunities to upskill yourself.

In terms of placements, IIIT Delhi and BITS Mesra are almost on the same level. As per the 2021 placement highlights, the average CTC for IIIT Delhi was INR 14 LPA.

Which college is better for Computer Science/ Computer Engineering in India - IIIT Delhi or NSIT?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 22nd, 2023
Founder, NextBigWhat

For a better understanding, I will compare both IIIT Delhi and NSIT Delhi based on some common aspects

  • Placement : The placement scenario of both the institutes is similar with IIIT Delhi having a slight advantage. NIST's median package stood at INR 16 LPA while IIIT Delhi's average package stood at INR 23.72 LPA
  • Campus : NSIT has a higher campus than IIIT Delhi but is old. IIIT Delhi is a relatively new institute so its infrastructure and campus facilities are modern.
  • Hostels : NSIT has bigger rooms than IIIT Delhi but IIIT DELHI has rooms with better facilities. There is the provision of AC at night in summer and a heater at night in winter.
  • Faculty : IIIT DELHI is the clear winner as its faculty pool is even better than some IITs.
  • Reputation : Being older NSIT enjoys a better brand value and recognition both in and outside India.
  • Coding Culture : IIIT DELHI has a much better coding culture than NSUT because the institute is CS centered.
  • Fees : IIIT Delhi charges higher fees around ?4.62 Lakhs (1st Year Fees) while NSIT fees are around ?2.29 Lakhs (1st Year Fees)
  • Clubs : NSUT has a better campus life and extracurricular culture because of the various clubs so it has an edge in this aspect.
  • Campus Life: IIIT Delhi has a very rigorous and tiresome campus life while NSIT has a more laid-back campus life.
  • Curriculum : IIIT DELHI has a more updated and modern curriculum in comparison to NSITs outdated curriculum irreverent to the industrial trends.

Overall, if you want a rigorous campus life more focused on academics choose IIIT Delhi but if you are looking for a relaxed experience NSIT is the one for you.

Is BITS Pilani better than NIT Warangal?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : August 19th, 2023

The answer varies with the branch you are offered at both these institutions. I will give you an idea for some common branches to make the decision easier for you-

  1. The Civil branch of NIT Warangal is slightly better than BITS Pilani. However, there is not much difference and you can go to either for your Civil.
  2. The Mechanical of BITS Pilani is better. However, for a future in research or entrepreneurship, choose Mechanical at NITW.
  3. For ECE, BITS Pilani is better than NITW. The faculty for ECE at NITW is extremely strict and the curriculum is much tougher than required at the UG level.
  4. For CS, if you are really passionate about this field, join IIIT Hyderabad. The CS faculty at NITW is as good as IIIT Hyderabad, but the peer group at NITW won’t be as passionate and dedicated. But among the options stated by you, NITW and BITS Pilani are equally good.
  5. Biotechnology- If you are interested in research and higher studies in this field, NIT Warangal is a good option. NITW will offer you study abroad programs and funded research if you show interest and dedication towards this field. The peer group, however, won’t be too good. The faculty for Biotech at NIT Warangal is great.

These are some of the common branches that you can choose at either of the institutions. Both NIT Warangal and BITS Pilani are great institutions and at the end, your hardwork and dedication will decide your future.

Which PGDM is better, IMI in New Delhi or TAPMI?

AD
Abhishek Dutt Posted On : March 15th, 2023
PGDM from T. A. Pai Management Institute (Graduated 2019)

IMI Delhi is ranked higher than TAPMI in most of the rankings one will come across. However, the scenario may differ based on work experience, expectations from an MBA, and the major one is looking for.

IMI Delhi has a better record of companies coming for placements than TAPMI. But, TAPMI has a different approach to placement reports. The figures are CRISIL certified, and the aim is to provide world-class education with a rigorous curriculum unmatched in the industry. The education and rigor received at TAPMI will make the investment worth it.

Life at TAPMI is tough, and it is not the typical B-School one would wish for. The institution is strict about every detailed aspect, and there won’t be opportunities to go home every fortnight or bunk class. However, a wonderful campus with best-in-class facilities will be provided, and personal expenses won’t skyrocket.

Placements will not be an issue once the necessary skills are acquired. Opportunities in every field of every kind will be provided, and the faculties are top-notch with high industry experience.

In the end, the decision is up to the individual.

Is NIT Trichy better than IIIT-D?

SR
Sikha Rajput Posted On : April 13th, 2022
B.Tech CS Computer Science & Biosciences, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi

No, NIT Trichy ranks lower than IIIT Delhi, in terms of placements, academics, exposure, coding culture, environment, etc. Being located in Delhi, it has a huge locational advantage. It’s easier to get internships and projects in the various industrial sectors around Delhi NCR.

IIIT Delhi has an amazing coding culture. You will get to learn a lot about programming from your seniors and peers.

IIIT Delhi placement record for 2021 shows an average CTC of INR 14 LPA. The placement average is around 94.06%.

Which is better for ug university college of medical sciences (ucms) or vmmc?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 25th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

As a student of UCMS, I will try to enlighten you about my college.

  • Location- It is true that UCMS is located in the periphery of Delhi, and its surrounding is not as developed as that of VMMC. Regardless, the location of UCMS offers most of the facilities required for a good college life. You can access Cinepolis, PVR and Big Cinemas from here, reach CP in 20-30 minutes by metro/private vehicle, and catch a metro from Jhilmil metro station to explore Delhi/NCR.
  • Campus- UCMS has a beautiful campus, the best among Delhi medical colleges. It has a huge central field where you can play cricket, basketball, football, etc. Boys get single seater hostel rooms from the first year itself. The campus has two 24*7 canteens, a book shop from where you can access all your medical books, an ATM, and a post office. The hospital has undergone renovation, and looks new and well managed.
  • Academics- UCMS offers excellent academics. The faculty is skilled and teaches with sincerity. The Histology Lab in the Anatomy department is really good.
  • Extracurriculars- UCMS has a sports society, a western dance team, a theme choreography team, a dramatics team, a musical society, a literary society and a medical education unit. You can join any of these.

According to me, both UCMS and VMMS are good medical colleges. You can choose the latter if location is a concern to you, otherwise, UCMS is a good choice too.
