As a fresher at LHMC, you’ll realize the burden of being a med student. Tests will be conducted every week, and the academics will be burdened. But it is the case with co-ed medical colleges too.
From 2nd year though, things will start to relax. You’ll make friends, and start exploring. LHMC is located in CP, so you’ll have access to all the amazing spots. Sometimes you’ll bunk postings and party all night long.
But most importantly, you’ll feel extremely proud of being a part of LHMC.
A girls’ environment does get toxic at times. Gossip culture and rumors will be quite prevalent, but you’ll learn to pay no attention to all this. You’ll develop a good dressing sense by watching others dress up so elegantly. You’ll celebrate festivals, and create endless memories with friends.
So basically, life at LHMC is anything but boring.
The life of a PG resident of Delhi University colleges like MAMC, LHMC, and UCMS depends on the steam they belong to. For instance, LHMC OB-GYN and Paediatrics have the highest workload while the rest of the streams have relatively lesser workload.
Almost every stream has an equally high workload in MAMC be it Medicine, Surgery, Gyn, or Paediatrics. The heavy workload teaches the students to push their limits to achieve their goals. It trains them better and also imparts knowledge. Most MAMC graduates can handle any case confidently which even some consultants with an experience of more than 20 years find difficult to manage. UCMS on the other hand offers a moderate workload for all streams.
So, choosing MAMC will give you an all-rounded experience where you will gain maximum knowledge and experience. LHMC is a great choice if you are specifically interested in OB-GYN or Paediatrics only.
It's rightly said, a picture speaks more than a thousand words. Here are a few pictures of the LHMC campus to give you a clear idea of the campus life and infrastructure of this college.
This statue is the spot for meetings, discussions, debates, planning, and gossiping.
Auditorium: The auditorium is huge with a balcony

Hope these pictures gave you a thorough tour of the campus.
Your life will change for the better at LHMC. Here are a few things about this college-
Enjoy each and every moment at this college, and make use of all the resources.
Being a day scholar at LHMC has its own pros and cons.
LHMC is located in CP, and well connected to the rest of Delhi NCR via metro. So commuting on regular days is no issue at all. Metro time is rather enjoyable. You can catch up with friends from other colleges. It is a good opportunity to finish your typing/editing work and save up some time. Metro will become an indispensable part of your daily routine.
But during exams, and particularly practicals, spending 2+ hours commuting is a waste of time. Even during theory exams, it is a struggle to travel back and forth from the college daily.
Carrying heavy books to and from the college is very hectic, one such book is Park’s and Robbins. Another thing is that you’ll miss out on a lot of fests and events. Traveling back home after the celebrations is an issue.
So yes, there will definitely be days when you regret being a day scholar at LHMC. But it is mostly during fest and exams.
Freshers at LHMC Delhi are allotted 3 seater rooms. These are pretty average, and not spacious enough. Hostel maids don’t clean well, unless you pay them extra. So maintaining and cleaning your room will be your own responsibility.
The hostel has common washrooms. No outsiders are allowed. Water and electricity are available 24*7. There’s no curfew timing, but you will have to sign in and out on a register near the hostel gate.
The hostel library is in poor condition, but you can access the college library. It is quite good, and its reading room remains open for 24 hours. The mess food is bad. ACs and coolers aren’t allowed, but every room has them regardless. The campus has a paid laundry service. There aren’t any washing machines in the hostel. LHMC hostels aren’t great, facility-wise.
During hostel allotment, people from outside Delhi are prioritized. Your permanent address records will decide how quickly you get to the hostel. The farther your residence is from Delhi, the earlier you’ll get a seat.
Even though the LHMC hostel isn’t top-notch, you’ll make endless memories over here.
Selecting the right order of preferences is very crucial during counseling, otherwise, you will end up losing an opportunity to study at a good college. I won’t be specifying any order of preference rather will guide you to the same.
Based on the above points, make your own order of preference. Determine your priorities and then rank the colleges as per your needs.
Prior to this, you should first be acquainted with how the units work. There are 5 units of Lady Hardinge Medical College under the Department of Surgery. Out of each, 3 are situated in LHMC, while the other 2 are at Dr. RML Hospital.
In terms of academics, Lady Hardinge Medical College is amongst the top-rated institutes of the nation and is ranked quite higher. Most essentially, the institute conducts several theory classes, presentations, and various other pointers that lead students to have a robust hold over the subject area.
Now, if you are familiar with the anatomical part, then as previously encountered, the 1st year residents are barely given the chance of “cutting”, on the contrary, the most they can do is assist seniors while they are pursuing the notion forward.
During the 2nd year onwards, you will get a clearer vision of the surgery skills and maximum of the knowledge as is required. You can also secure an opportunity to conduct an independent procedure but under the critical guidance of a senior.
One of my sisters is a part of Lady Hardinge College and her experience at the college has been amazing.
The college has a gigantic auditorium and administrative block, other than which there are no efficient places to talk about.
You will enjoy several outings during your stay at the college because the campus lacks a good food joint. You can also order food from nearby restaurants in Paharganj or Connaught Place. The food is nominally available in the food mess at the hostel which is not tasty.
The major downside is the infrastructure it has, as opposed to other institutes such as AIIMS, MAMC, or UCMS. The gymnasium at the college is not very well equipped. However, as per what my cousin states, it is a decent university when talking academically.
Lady Hardinge Medical College is better. It is counted among the best medical colleges in the region. The teaching faculties are excellent. College seniors are supportive, they will help you provide guidance. The coursework includes weekly examinations, so students need to study regularly. This makes sure that the coursework is completed on time.
Hardinge has many societies that you can be a part of and find similar-minded people. The sports facilities and extracurricular activities offered are good as well.
