NITIE Mumbai offers a doctoral-level fellowship program. Recognized by the Ministry of HRD, this program is equivalent to a Ph.D. of any Indian Institute.
NITIE Fellow program is interdisciplinary in nature and covers different facets of industrial, business, and social issues. Finance, Marketing, Economics, Operation Management, Organizational Behaviour, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility & Ethics are some of the specializations of the fellow program.
There are two types of Fellow program admission, i.e. regular full-time candidates and sponsored candidates. Regular full-time candidates with valid GATE or NET JRF scores get financial assistance from the institute.
The course work for the first year is the same for all departments except three steam-specific courses. During the second semester of the program, the institute will assign you a guide as per the research proposal that you will submit during the time of admission.
Here is the profile of one of my friends, who got admission to NITIE PGDIE a few years back.
She was shortlisted for PGDIE in the very first round. As per the recent year trends, the NITIE PGDIE Gate cutoff stays around 717.
NITIE admission process consists of two rounds, i.e. GD and PI. The institute shortlists students based on their GATE score for the GD-PI round. The final selection is based on GATE score, and the performance in GD-PI. Certain weightage is given to past academic records, and relevant work experience as well.
NITIE Mumbai GATE cutoff stays around 650. For 2021 the required GATE cutoff was 609 (for general category).
A score of around 750 is considered good for getting an interview call from the institute. However, converting the call into admission is a different story altogether. For final selection, the institute also considers past academics, work experience, and performance in GD-PI.
A friend of mine appeared for the PGDIE interview of NITIE Mumbai, a few years back. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate. Around 70% of the interview questions were about his profile and his B.Tech project. There were some questions from his graduation subjects as well. During the interview, they often ask technical questions like, ‘Why NITIE?’, ‘What is your career goal?’, etc.
NITIE selection criteria assign more weightage to the GATE score. If you have a decent GATE score, you will have an edge over others. But don’t take the GD-PI round lightly.
NITIE offers the PGDIM course, and the NITIE Mumbai CAT cutoff is based on CAT 2022. The minimum expected cutoff required for the general category students would be 95 percentile to get admission to NITIE Mumbai.
Admission to PGDIM is done through the percentile scored in CAT. These are the latest cut-offs and they depend on the no. of total applications and several other factors.
Below is the expected NITIE Mumbai CAT cutoff 2022 for the PGDIM course for the academic year 2022 for various category students.

The cut-off that is officially mentioned for PGDIM/PGDSEM for an OBC candidate is above 65 percentile. But, I would suggest aiming for a percentile around 80–85, which will increase your chances of conversion.
No, 27 isn’t too late to join NITIE. Usually, NITIE PGDIE batch profiles include people with ages 22-30. You won’t be treated any differently by the faculty or recruiters because of your age.
NITIE placement trends show that experienced students usually have a better chance at Ecommerce, Finance, Manufacturing, and Consulting companies. Naturally, there are exceptions.
NITIE offers admission to its Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) program based on a candidate's performance in either the Common Admission Test (CAT) or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
Candidates who have a valid GATE score are eligible to apply for admission to the PGDIE program. However, in addition to GATE scores, candidates can also submit their CAT scores to be considered for admission.
NITIE uses a merit-based selection process that takes into account a candidate's academic performance, work experience, CAT/GATE scores, group discussion, and personal interviews. The weightage given to each of these factors may vary from year to year.
Candidates who have qualified for either the CAT or GATE exams are eligible to apply for admission to NITIE's PGDIE program. The institute takes a holistic approach to admissions, and the final selection is based on several factors, including a candidate's performance in the qualifying exams, work experience, and performance in group discussions and personal interview rounds.

GATE score isn't only the factor that contributes to the admission process. The other factors include academics scores of 10th, 12th, graduation, and GD-PI rounds.
Two of my friends got admitted to NITIE. One among them was a general category with a 780 GATE score and the other secured a 765 score from the OBC category. It all depends on the cut-offs and waiting list conversion.
Along with the GATE scores, it's important to work hard for the group discussion and personal interview round. Also, wait for the waiting list as there can be a slight chance of selection in the waiting list.
