How are the placements for MPP in NLSIU?

RR
Rudra Roy Posted On : October 4th, 2021
Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology,Karunya University (2016)

One of my friends recently graduated from NLSIU. Here is his insight on the placements at NLSIU.

  • There is no placement cell in the institute. Students get placed through a student-led body called RCC (recruitment coordination committee). An average of 30 percent of students get placed. Around 50 percent don’t have a proper job secured during graduation.
  • The institute has its reputation however the course and curriculum provided by the institute don’t prepare you for any corporate job. Getting into the top company is only possible if you are in the top 5 of a strength of 70 people in the class. You will have a chance of getting into the big four, i.e. EY, KPMG, Deloitte, etc. as policy professionals. But don’t expect to get into IGOs like the World Bank or UN.
  • According to the recent placement highlights at NLSIU, the L&L Partners made 12 placement offers. Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Trilega made 7 placement offers while Cyril Amarchand made 1 placement offer. Companies like ICICI Bank, Societe Generale, Khaitan, AZB & Partners made less than 5 offers each. In 2020, the highest CTC offered at NLSIU was 18 LPA.

The employment space for MPP professionals is opening up with time and if you have the required skills you will have decent opportunities along the line. But you will need to approach top companies through platforms such as LinkedIn.

What is the average placement package of the top law universities like VIZ NLSIU, NALSAR and NUJS?

KS

Studying B. Com from Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Jaipur

In the top three law schools, the placement scenes are fantastic.

In terms of placement, WBNUJS has been doing really well. In the past, it has received 100% placement (not inclusive of those who do not sit for placements). The graduating class of 2020 received offers for all 78 participants who participated in the recruitment process.

With 30 students taking Day Zero in NALSAR, a total of 28 offers were offered, with 17 being accepted.

Last year at NLSIU, 47 final-year students who opted for it were hired by 19 businesses. The average remuneration package was about Rs 18 lakhs. In 2020, 40 job offers were made during NLSIU's day zero recruitment, which set a record.

The average salary at each of the top three law schools is nearly identical. Domestic and international firms pay different amounts for traineeships, with the average foreign firm package ranging from INR 38 lakhs to 44 lakhs and the average domestic firm package ranging from INR 8 lakhs to 18 lakhs.

Also, it's not only about attending one of the top three law schools; possibilities abound and are available to students from all law schools. If you are dedicated and hardworking, you will find a place at the top.

2 months of preparation is enough if you are aspiring for CLAT but you should work hard with sheer dedication.

  • You should join some crash courses but before joining it, give a mock test to identify your strong and weak points.
  • Once done, you should start preparing without any time limit. If you have practiced enough, then set a timer and give each section proper time.
  • To enhance your GK, read newspapers daily apart from the glamorous news. They will help you immensely during your exam.
  • You should also keep an eye on the websites for the information related to CLAT. You can also find mock papers that are easily available.
  • It would be better if you have friends who are also preparing for CLAT as you can study together with them and discuss doubts.

Last but not least we can say that by following these steps you can easily clear CLAT and can achieve the heights, just keep in mind that you need to match the level of the CLAT exam so develop your aptitude accordingly.

Studied at National Law School of India University,Bangalore

One of my friends is a student of NLSIU and here is his advice on how to prepare for CLAT.

  • You can take a year break to prepare for it or blend your routine in a perfect balance to prepare for it along with your studies. Assign flexible time hours to your CLAT preparation. You should follow a very strict schedule when it comes to the preparation of CLAT.
  • Pursuing an online course while studying in any institute for cracking CLAT might be helpful.
  • Remember to invest equal hours in preparation for all the questions you will be attempting. Your hold on English should be strong. Do not forget to practice reasoning every day.
  • Updating your general knowledge and current affairs regularly is also necessary.

With strategic planning, you can do well in CLAT.

Is OP Jindal a good college for an MA in public policy? How does it compare with NLSIU in Bangalore?

UC
Upasana Chowdhury Posted On : July 7th, 2022

O P Jindal Global University offers a well-designed MA in Public Policy. The faculties have good experience in teaching and research. If your goal is to work in corporate jobs, research institutions, think tanks, etc. the institute can give you decent exposure. They have extensive industry reach and a large alumni network.

NLSIU Bangalore is among the top-most law schools in the country and offers excellent academics in Law. If you want to have an academic-oriented career in Public Policy, then you should prefer NLSIU over O P Jindal.

How do I get admission in NLSIU, Bangalore?

SM
Sunaina Mittal Posted On : September 28th, 2021
Studied Finance from University of Delhi (2015)

The only way that will lead you to NLSIU, Bangalore is scoring and ranking top in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

It is a competitive exam and has 200 questions. Each question carries 1 mark. The test is conducted only once every year and the cut-off for every year for different colleges varies greatly.

Specifically for NLSIU, you need to rank in the first 50-60 in the general category. For the reservation category, you have 25-30 more seats. In order to crack the exam, you need to prepare well in advance and strategically.

Is there any value of doing MBL (Masters of Business law) from NLSIU, Bangalore?

PP
Praniti Pathak Posted On : September 28th, 2021
M.Com.,M.A.Eco,MBA-Fin Management & Education

If you are looking at the course from the perspective of its acceptability in the industry, then honestly it does not rank very high in the list. It can not be even fully considered a proper Masters in Law degree. One of my friends studied it and here’s what she has to say about it.

  • Masters in Business Law (MBL) is not a full-time LLM course. You cannot take UGC-NET on the basis of this degree.
  • It is quite an expensive course. Not only the course fees but they take additional fees like Rs. 500 for each subject. They have a continuation fee of Rs. 2500.
  • The books suggested are also not elaborate enough to learn about the course. They lack content.
  • There is no transparency in checking answer sheets. If you want your answer sheets rechecked, it will cost you Rs.800 for each paper.

Therefore it is recommended that you do not opt for this course, as it is not an LLM course. The only thing credible about it is the tag you receive from NLSIU.

Are the rooms at NLSIU and NALSAR good?

AT
Alok Tripathi Posted On : September 8th, 2021
B.A LLB from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2024)

The rooms at NLSIU hostel are more or less okay. It is a government-backed institute and we cannot compare it with NALSAR.

The rooms at NLSIU can accommodate three students. They are not very spacious and you might find it difficult to share the rooms. There is no need for AC as the weather in Hyderabad is comfortable. There are coolers for the hotter months.

In the case of NALSAR, you will be sharing your room with another student for the first three years. From the 4th year onwards, you will have your own room. The rooms are not that spacious. With the construction of new hostel buildings, the problem of overcrowding is being dealt with.
