NIT Raipur isn’t a good option for an MTech in VLSI. It is a new branch and only a few branches have been through placements. According to NIT Raipur placement highlights, the placement rate isn’t that good for M.Tech VLSI. The majority of the students get non-core placements. Only around 4-5 students get core jobs.
It is a good option, in terms of research. Students of MTech VLSI have good research publications. The department also has decent facilities and technology to carry out research work.

Students will require 75% in their 10+2 qualifying exam and 60% in their BTech or BE exam to be eligible for admission at ABV IIITM Gwalior for the MTech program in VLSI Design. Final selection will be based on GATE scores.
As per the MHRD norms, the students are offered stipends within the range of INR 7000-13000. Approximately, this year a total of 18% students received Pre-placement offers from various companies. The list includes Cartesian Consulting, Toppr, Goldsman Sach, Inmobi, Myntra, Leap & Scale, BNY Mellon, Qubole Software, and Goibibo.
MTech in VLSI design is a dynamic domain in which advances happen continuously in both research and technology. With a large number of VLSI design houses in India, there is a wide scope for VLSI engineers getting placed through internships and also directly after post-graduation.
Both NIT Surathkal and IIIT Bangalore are approved by UGC and AICTE. The accepted entrance exam for MTech is GATE.

NIT Surathkal is an autonomous govt institute whereas IIIT Bangalore is deemed to be a university. IIIT Bangalore is good for research on the other hand NIT Surathkal is good for corporate placement. The students can choose their college according to their convenience.
Whether it is new or old, an IIT is still an IIT. Once you complete your degree, you will always be an IITian and be eligible for its advantages throughout your professional life. Electrical Sciences, the category under which ECE falls, is in an average position in terms of placement.
During the IIT Bhubaneswar placement in 2022, the highest salary offered to BTech students was INR 44.10 LPA. Additionally, the highest packages for BTech and MTech were INR 44.10 LPA and INR 17.13 LPA, respectively, during IIT BBS placements in 2022. 88% of applicants are placed. There are some problems with it because it is a new IIT.
The MTech in VLSI program at ABV-IIITM, Gwalior is a two-year program with specializations in Advanced Networks, Digital Communication, and Information Security. The annual median salary across students is noted to be 5.8 LPA in 2019.
The stipend paid varies according to the company but as per the MHRD norms it amounts to Rs 8000. Some students have also received a stipend of Rs 12,400 as per AICTE norms. So it would be ideal to conclude that the stipend ranges from anywhere between Rs 8000 to Rs 12,400.
Students are required to perform intensive research about the type of companies that they are looking to work with, considering IIITM, Gwalior offers limited placements to students from the VLSI sector. The total fees for the course amount to 4.23 lacs whereas students are required to clear the GATE exams in order to be eligible for admissions.
After a having a look at the M-Tech placements at IIT Bhubaneswar for the batch of 2020, it was observed that the placement rate for MTech students was 68% with companies like Adobe, Amazon, Accenture, Affine Analytics, HCL, HPCL, IOCL, ISRO, Ittiam, Infosys, KIIT, Go-Jek, and Goldman Sachs coming as recruiters and PSUs like IOCL, NCCBM, ISRO also taking part in the recruitment process. The highest placements were about 40 LPA CTC with the top recruiters being Goldman Sachs, Renault Nissan, Oracle, Samsung R and D, TCS R and D, Infosys, and Adobe to name a few. IT, Core Engineering Sectors, and education sectors drew the maximum placements followed by PSU, E-commerce and Analytics. Now moving on to VLSI while this branch is not available as a full branch for MTech at IIT Bhubaneswar, another branch of ECE is available in MTech which is communication systems although it is also named as ECE in MTech. This branch has VLSI as an elective course with 3 credits and 3 contact hours, and the above M-Tech placement statistics ought to give you an idea with respect to the placements of that branch at IIT Bhubaneswar.

However, interdisciplinary courses face a lot of issues during placements since this course is not known to many companies. This is because it falls under a different center named ATDC(Advanced Technology Development Center)
To prepare for the interview one needs to go through concepts of signals and systems, processors and controllers, C language, and Assembly language.
