Which college is better for an MTech, VLSI, NIT Surathkal or IIIT Bangalore?

Based on my research, here is some relevant information to assist you-

IIIT Bangalore offers much better infrastructure, research facilities, and placement opportunities as compared to NIT Surathkal. However, the fee structure at IIIT Bangalore is also on the higher side. Most of the top brands visit both these campuses for placements. 

As of June 2023, the highest CTC for M.Tech ECE stood at 38 LPA, at IIIT Bangalore. The average CTC stood at 26.2 LPA, and the median CTC stood at 22.5 LPA. 

Though both are top colleges, I would recommend you choose IIIT Bangalore for M.Tech ECE. Especially, if the fee is not an issue for you. 

MTech in VLSI design is a dynamic domain in which advances happen continuously in both research and technology. With a large number of VLSI design houses in India, there is a wide scope for VLSI engineers getting placed through internships and also directly after post-graduation.

Both NIT Surathkal and IIIT Bangalore are approved by UGC and AICTE. The accepted entrance exam for MTech is GATE.

Admission:

The admission process for both the institutes may differ according to seat availability. But the selection process will be the same.

• Both the institutes require the students to complete their UG degree in B.E or B.Tech with 60%.
• Students should have cleared the GATE exam with the required cutoff. Each year cutoff may vary according to the student’s performance.

Infrastructure:

Both the institutions provide experienced faculty with their own area of specialization in research and proper infrastructure with lab facilities, smart room class, spacious digital library including book bank books, journals for all the disciplines. The colleges provide sports complexes with both indoor and outdoor games.

Placement:

NIT Surathkal-

• The highest salary package offered is 18.75 LPA and the average salary package is 11.90 LPA.
• The major recruiters were Amazon, Bajaj, Dell, Deloitte, Microsoft, Maruti Suzuki, Myntra, Oracle, Samsung, Tata Motors, Uber, Wipro, UTC Aerospace, Vedanta, VISA, Morgan Stanley.

IIIT Bangalore-

• The highest salary package for IIIT Bangalore is 54 LPA and the average package is 15.97 LPA.
• The major recruiters were Rubrik, Microsoft, Flipkart, Amazon, Cisco, Dell, Accenture, BOSCH, Wipro, HSBC, Intel, IBM, Paytm, etc.

NIT Surathkal is an autonomous govt institute whereas IIIT Bangalore is deemed to be a university. IIIT Bangalore is good for research on the other hand NIT Surathkal is good for corporate placement. The students can choose their college according to their convenience.
