Which college has better placements, IIM-A or IIM-B (IIM Ahmedabad)? Why so?
IIM Ahmedabad is concerned with the diversity of its pupils. As a result, they must admit a specific number of students from each stream. Pursuing an MBA as an IPCC student comes with its own benefits. You should consider factors like your long-term goal, professional experience, and financial viability before making a decision. And if you do decide to pursue an MBA you should keep an open mind since circumstances may force you to choose some other college; although there are no logical reasons why someone would go anywhere else if they are getting IIM A what I am trying to say is aim for the best college, aim for 100 percentile and deciding which college to join shall be an easy task for you. As a CA student, you should keep certain points in mind:
- Know the program: Research and get a thorough understanding of what an MBA is all about and whether your goal aligns with the degree. Familiarize yourself with the curriculum, specialization, and faculty at IIM Ahmedabad. It would also motivate you to put your best foot forward.
- Strengthen your CV: Although having CA as your qualification is impressive, IIMs usually look for well-rounded candidates with diverse backgrounds. I understand that at this stage you can’t possibly change your background but you can certainly present yourself in the best possible manner.
- Start preparing ASAP: As a CA student, I understand that you have no difficulty in sitting for hours but CAT doesn’t only test your knowledge but also tests your planning skills and time management, hence start preparing as early as you can. Take as many mocks as possible.
Is IIM Ahmedabad better than Aligarh Muslim University?
Both the colleges have their own reputation. My father is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad while one of my brothers is pursuing Law from Aligarh Muslim University. Being a part of two prestigious colleges like IIM Ahmedabad and AMU, when they sit together and discuss something be it Law, ongoing cases, or any other matter, they both have a very different perspective.
My father gives proficient suggestions in legal fields as well. He being an IIMian, believes in talking systematically. He is very patient in carving out solutions to every problem. He used to tell me the time of his MBA at IIM Ahmedabad. During his days of MBA, people were not very crazy about pursuing an MBA. But in his opinion doing MBA is the best opportunity to be a part of an institute like IIM Ahmedabad.

- Every college which is said to be one of the most reputed colleges may not provide the best in all the courses. In the same way, pursuing MBA from Aligarh Muslim University cannot be a good decision. AMU is best for many other courses but it’s a “Big No” for MBA.
- If you are capable enough, then you must prepare to crack CAT and be a part of IIM Ahmedabad. MBA from IIM – A is a way better choice. The college has been producing better placement results for many years. They develop your management skills and prospers to bring out the best management skills in yourself.

Overall, you need to target around 98-99 percentile for scoring an admission in IIM Ahmedabad. However, the required percentile to get into IIM Ahmedabad keeps on varying every year, so it depends on each year’s cut-off. Your bachelor’s specialization also holds some importance. IIM Ahmedabad also considers the 10th and 12th percentile. Along with the CAT score your marks, the other things that are important are your category and your work experience.

Yes, there have been mentions of having at least 78% in Engineering for general candidates for admission at IIM Ahmedabad. They may have created the shortlist based on these criteria. The two-year Post-graduate Programme in Management (PGP) at IIM Ahmedabad is a full-time residential course for graduates of all disciplines who desire to pursue a management career.

Which is better- PGP-FABM from IIM Ahmedabad or PGP from Indore/Kozhikode? Which one should I go for?
No matter whether you study inboth programs. It entirely depends on your interest in the subject. If you are interested in agriculture or in the food sector then think nothing and go for the FABM program but if you are not interested in this field then you can go with the general PGP program at IIM Indore or Kozhikode.
