How is mess food at IIIT Delhi?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : October 5th, 2023

Unfortunately, IIIT Delhi's mess food is like any other typical mess food. I have friends in other IITs and I heard from them that their mess food is better. The mess scenes are very chaotic, especially during the day.

There are frequent menu changes but only for the show. No new dishes are added and only the order or serving is changed. They even interchange lunch and dinner and claim this act as updating the menu. The mess app doesn't improve the food quality.

The food served is of substandard quality and the majority of students tend to order their food online. So, be prepared to be disappointed by the IIITD Mess.

How good is NIT Agartala?

SM
Spandita Majumder Posted On : September 18th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Agartala (2019)

First I would like to tell you about some pros and cons of NIT Agartala-

Pros -

  1. Peaceful and green campus spread across 350 acres.
  2. The weather in Agartala is great.
  3. Dedicated canteens for various foods- South Indian, North Indian, Bengali, etc. on campus.
  4. Decent placements that are improving each year. Companies like SAP Labs, Oracle, Samsung R&D, Book MY Show, Huawei, Amdocs, Tata Motors and Maruti visit our campus during the placement season.
  5. Top-notch infrastructure. Some highlights of the same are Supercomputers, EM, AFM, FESEM, XRD, Scanning electron microscope, and ISRO innovation incubation centre.

Cons-

  1. Agartala is remotely located. So you won’t have access to Dominos, Pizzahut, Fun Cinemas and malls.
  2. The campus is located in the hills with poor roadways. So transportation is a major issue.

NIT Agartala is one of the fastest-growing NITs. Don’t reject it simply for its geographical location. Based on my experience, NITA is better than most private engineering colleges and half of the NITs.

Which is better to pursue, an MBA in BIMTECH Noida or an MBA in BITS Pilani? I have 2 years of TCS experience with a 77 percentile.

KT
Kripal Tyagi Posted On : March 20th, 2023
PGDM in Finance & Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance, Birla Institute of Management Technology (Graduated 2022)

BIMTECH Noida is a top-ranked management institute in India that offers a variety of post-graduate courses such as PGDM, PGDM IB (International Business), PGDM IBM (Insurance business management), and PGDM RM (Retail Management). Compared to BITS Pilani, BIMTECH stands out in several aspects such as faculty, environment, opportunities, student life, academic resources, and location for an MBA.

One of the standout features of BIMTECH is its faculty. The professors at BIMTECH are highly experienced and come from diverse backgrounds with a mix of academic and industry experience. This allows the students to gain valuable insights into various industries and business practices.

BIMTECH also offers a great environment for students to grow and learn. The campus is equipped with modern facilities such as well-stocked libraries, computer labs, and sports facilities to ensure that students have access to everything they need. The institute also has a strong focus on extracurricular activities, which helps students to develop their skills and interests outside the classroom.

One of the key advantages of BIMTECH is the ample opportunities it provides for students. The institute has strong industry linkages and collaborations with various companies, which help students gain practical exposure and experience. BIMTECH also has a strong alumni network, which provides students with the opportunity to connect with successful professionals and gain valuable insights into the industry.

In terms of academic resources, BIMTECH is well-equipped with modern technologies, online learning resources, and an updated curriculum that keeps up with the latest industry trends. The institute provides students with access to various databases, journals, and online resources that aid their research and learning.

Lastly, BIMTECH's location also offers several advantages. It is located in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India, which is a hub for many industries and businesses. This provides students with ample opportunities to interact with professionals from various fields, gain exposure, and build their network.

BIMTECH is a much better option compared to BITS in terms of faculty, environment, opportunities, student life, academic resources, and location. The institute provides students with the right balance of academic and practical learning, which helps them become industry-ready professionals.

Which is better AIIMS or JIPMER?

Prerona Datta Posted On : September 21st, 2023

Although both JIPMER and AIIMS are elite medical colleges in India, I believe AIIMS is slightly better than JIPMER. Here are some common differences that can be pointed out

  • JIPMER has a higher intake than AIIMS so the student-teacher ratio is also higher. This further results in a higher student-patient ratio when one patient is examined for a class.
  • AIIMS has a bigger hospital, more patient flow, and better equipment thereby enhancing the overall learning experience. In AIIMS students are left to study on their own and academics aren’t forced upon them while in JIPMER the teachers teach a lot of theory and practice.
  • AIIMS refers most general and simple cases to other hospitals so you won’t be able to see a variety of cases while in JIPMER, you see all types of cases.
  • AIIMS has better research facilities and funding so if you are willing to do research projects, AIIMS is better for you.
  • JIPMER offers extensive internships that teach a lot and provide hands-on experience and clinical practice. AIIMS clinical testing and internships aren’t that good.
  • Both JIPMER and AIIMS have a strong alumni network and reservations for post-graduation courses that give you ample opportunities for courses and jobs after finishing your studies.
  • Delhi being a metropolitan city has better recreational activities while Pondicherry is the best place if you want a peaceful and calm environment.
  • Pulse by AIIMS is the largest intercollegiate medical festival in the country while Spandan by JIPMER is probably the second largest. Pulse definitely has better cultural activities while Spandan definitely has better sporting ones.
  • AIIMS has better post-graduation and super specialty courses.

Overall, both are excellent institutes and if you even have a choice between AIIMS and JIPMER, then go for AIIMS.

What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at IISc Bangalore?

SM
Sanket Mondal Posted On : July 14th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (2020)

Here are some helpful tips if you are starting your first year at IISc Bangalore:

  • Humble yourself- At IISc, you will find peers who will be better than you at one thing or the other. Humble yourself and be open to the plenty of opportunities offered to you.
  • Involve in Conversations- Students, especially Masters and Ph.D. students, come from various backgrounds and are of different age groups. If you converse with the people around you and learn to accept differing views, you will hear new ideas and perspectives.
  • Be prepared to deal with uncertainty- You will face uncertainty on many occasions.

Ph.D. students have to be well-prepared to face uncertainty every single day. On numerous accounts, you are left on your own with no guidance at all. Also, no amount of guidance will ever be sufficient.

Even the Bangalore weather is very uncertain. One day it might rain heavily, and the following day might be a sunny one.

  • Enjoy your stay in Bangalore- The city is filled with fun places, and IISc Bangalore is located in the heart of it. There are numerous spots around Bangalore, located within a 500 km range. There is sufficient connectivity.

Hindi and English work fine but try to learn the local language. Many South Indians prefer dialogue in English or their local languages, so Hindi might not work in every scenario.

  • Work hard during your first year - The coursework at IISc is extremely hard and more demanding than even some of the top US universities. Assignments can get tough and the concepts may not be clear in the first instant. Courses with laboratory work are harder.
  • Make time for fun- Make a habit of jogging, cycling, or walking on campus. Make good friends and have healthy conversations with them. Learn a new skill, especially something that will be of use to you in the future.
  • Do not break ties with Old friends- Call your old friends and arrange meetups. This will help you during times when your studies will become overwhelming.

IISc Bangalore will challenge and groom you in numerous ways. Make the most out of your stay there.

What are the drawbacks of NIT Kurukshetra?

VR
Vineet Ray Posted On : September 1st, 2023
Studied IT at NIT Kurukshetra

There are a few drawbacks of NIT Kurukshetra that students and faculty have reported. These include:

  • Girls have restrictions on their entry and exit time.
  • The infrastructure needs to be improved and the faculty needs to be more proficient in languages.
  • The lab equipment is obsolete and not enough attention is given to lab sessions.
  • The institute offers limited opportunities in terms of research and projects.
  • The institute has an outdated syllabus that is delivered through old-school pedagogy.
  • The examination date sheet and the results are not released on time.
  • Students who are unable to clear any subject in the current year, have to reappear for it in the next year.
  • The location of the institute plays a huge role in diminishing its reputation. Kurukshetra is not a city but a town with poor transport facilities, infrastructure, and no places to explore
  • The marking patterns adopted by the professors are poorly designed.
  • The classroom sessions are monotonous and leave students disinterested in the particular course. The classrooms have poor facilities, such as no ventilation, projectors, and ACs.
  • The cultural fest is given more importance and receives more funds than the technical ones.

However, NIT Kurukshetra has more pros than cons so if you don’t have any other option, you can go for this institute and work hard to achieve your goals.

Why are IIITs such as IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Delhi, and IIIT Allahabad so underrated?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : August 2nd, 2023

The three IIITs mentioned by you, namely IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Delhi and IIIT Allahabad have no connection with one another. Only IIIT Allahabad is a member of a collective known as the IIITs.Out of the remaining two, IIIT Hyderabad stands for The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad, and IIIT Delhi stands for Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi.

All these three are prestigious institutions and I would disagree that they are underrated. IIIT Hyderabad is very difficult to get into. It has high cutoffs which are at par with some of the top IITs. IIIT Hyderabad is considered as one of the best institutes to study CS. The same is evident through their CS placements, a number of entrants in GSoc, and their participation in competitive programming. As far as IIIT Delhi is concerned, the institution has grown tremendously in the past few years. It has cut offs comparable to NSIT and DTU.

All these institutes are relatively new and have the tag of “Research Institutes” attached to them. These might be an obstacle to their fame. This is because in India, students choose those institutes that promise the best industrial career prospects and not the ones driven by research.

However, because these institutes are research-driven, the quality of their course content is top notch and they attract some of the best faculty. This also works to increase your overall development and opportunities in the industry. The popularity of these institutions is thus growing rapidly.

Therefore, all three institutions are really good choices to pursue your higher studies.

Why are IIIT's such as IIIT-Hyderabad, IIIT-Delhi and IIIT-Allahabad so under-rated?

AS
Ayushi Sehgal Posted On : February 14th, 2024

First of all, to clear any misconceptions, IIITH, IIITD and IIITA are not connected in any manner. Out of the three, only IIIT Allahabad is a member of the actual collective known as the IIITs.

The common public doesn’t know much about these prestigious colleges. Consequently, they aren’t valued as much as the IITs and NITs. Here are the reasons why-

  1. All these institutes offer very few branches, which are mostly IT related.
  2. They aren’t as old as some of the IITs and NITs. They were set up even after IIT Guwahati, which is the 7th IIT in terms of establishment year.
  3. They don’t possess big campuses and a vast infrastructure.

But those who belong to the field of engineering (especially IT), give high ratings to these institutions, especially IIIT Hyderabad. These three offer research oriented academics. They even offer UG research programs.

IIIT Hyderabad, Delhi and Allahabad are performing really well in their respective fields. They should be given much more attention.
