What are all the companies that visit NSIT for placements?

SA
Simran Arora Posted On : August 21st, 2023
Studied CS from NSIT (2019)

The TnP cell of NSUT Delhi does not release the salaries offered by the companies so I too will only be stating the name of the visiting companies only.

Over the last few years, NSUT has welcomed many MNCs that recruit the most talented minds of NSUT. Some of the top recruiters that visited the campus for the placement drive include

Google

Avaya

Deloitte

Honeywell

HCL

IBM

Ibibo

Digital Green

GRMALTO

Ciena

Amdocs

Axtria

Flipkart

McKinsey

Sokrati

Snapdeal

Bharti Airtel

Futures First

Mu-Sigma

Tata Consultancy Services

Try to score a minimum of 70% if you want to be eligible for most of the top tech companies. But if you want to get into a non-tech company, then 65% will get you enough offers. Remember that college only offers you the first job and it’s you who has to shape the rest of your career.

Should I change to a Delhi School for DTU or NSIT?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : July 4th, 2023

Yes, you should certainly consider changing to a Delhi School for DTU or NSIT. Like every state Delhi too has institutions where there is a reservation for Delhites. DTU and NSIT are among the top engineering colleges and the fact that both of them are situated in Delhi gives immense opportunities to the residents.

Both DTU and NEIT are under the purview of the Government of National Capital Territory(NCT) of Delhi so they have an 85% reservation for students who do their schooling from Delhi.

So if you are a Delhite you have to compete with 85% of the batch which is easier than competing against 15% seats for remaining states. Here, you can get CS even with an average rank if you are a Delhite but it may be impossible if you are from another state. So yes, shift to Delhi and avail a plethora of opportunities!

Why is NSIT the worst engineering college in Delhi?

SA
Simran Arora Posted On : August 21st, 2023
Studied CS from NSIT (2019)

It's quite subjective to claim NSUT is the worst engineering college as it has churned out a few successful engineers too. The only people who find it below average and worst are those who couldn't make it to the prestigious institution despite being rich because it does accept any kind of bribes. I have many friends in the institute that say the college gave them wings to fly and discover their passions. So the people nitpicking on the colleges worth are the ones that did not utilize the available resources or took part in any kind of activity.

Rather than criticizing an institute, I suggest it's better to take action and start working on yourself because you cannot change the institute but can change yourself drastically for the better.

So, NSUT is definitely not the worst engineering college in Delhi as it has given wings to many engineering students who are pursuing successful careers today. best engineering college in India and almost a religion for many like me.

Which ranks higher: NSIT, DTU, or an NIT?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : July 4th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

It’s hard to determine the worth and credibility of these institutes just by looking at official rankings. So I will be taking into consideration some criteria

  • Placements: The placement scenario and opportunities offered at all these institutes are equally good as similar companies visit for placements. Companies like Google and Facebook conduct an open test like APAC so students of all institutes get equal opportunities.
  • Campus life: In terms of the campus and city life offered, my preference order would be DTU = NSIT > NIT. Being in Delhi, NSIT and DTU offer better opportunities and exposure. Delhi has it all, major corporate headquarters, the media, and top colleges like IIT-D and DU to compete with.
  • Student pool: The peer group has a massive effect on you and helps you in determining your interests and activities and grooming your personality. The ranking of colleges depends solely on the type of crowd you are looking for. If you are from south India, you would prefer to join NIT- Trichy. So this aspect cannot be generalized at all.
  • Campus: A dynamic college life is very important to break from occasional strenuous situations. In that aspect, NIT offers the best campus life followed by DTU and NSIT.
  • Faculty: The faculty pool is better at NIT than at NSIT and DTU. NIT is a central government institute and has a better recruitment process so filtration is better.
  • Alumni: Alumni network plays a big role in your institute’s reputation in the corporate sector and can help you financially with your startup idea. That being said, DTU and NIT Trichy have the best alumni network followed by other NITs and NSITs.

It’s best to go for the college that is best suitable for you alone and not just because it has good rankings.

How many marks would be enough for a SC category student to get admission into DTU, NSIT, IIIT or NITs in Computer Science and Engineering if JEE (mains) weightage is changed back to 100%?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 19th, 2023

IIITD, DTU and NSIT (NSUT) reserve 85% seats for the students who passed their 12th or equivalent from Delhi. All the NITs also offer reservation to students from their own states. Here are the 2023 JEE Mains closing ranks for CSE/COE at various colleges (for SC category)-

College/ University

Quota

Closing Rank (last round)

NSIT (NSUT)

All India

49910

DTU

All India

37183

NITW

OS

484

NIT Rourkela

OS

549

IIIT Delhi

OS

62163

These are the closing ranks assuming you are not from the Home State. There are separate ranks for female-reserved seats as well. Apart from COE, NSUT also offers a B.Tech CSE in AI, Data Science and Big Data Analytics.

Thus, you will have to study hard and score well to secure a seat at these top colleges for your B.Tech CSE.

How good of an institution is NSIT, Delhi?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 21st, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

One of my friends at NSUT Delhi shared a few unknown facts about the institute. He claims that the majority of the crowd is focused on getting placed and securing good marks rather than developing a genuine interest and passion in the curse. This makes the academic environment dull and unchallenging. Here are some other major drawbacks he faced during his time at NSUT Delhi

  • The institute has a disinterested faculty pool that ruins the lives of many by illogical grading systems. They have no interest in teaching and students have to motivate themselves to study.
  • NSUT Delhi does not only have an outdated curriculum but also has a number of irrelevant courses. This makes the students lose interest in the branch.
  • It may have the DU tag but rarely do recruiters know about this. Its brand value is not at par with other DU-affiliated colleges.
  • The placement scenario is pathetic and the institute releases not have much official data on the same. The exceptional cases of students getting placed in big companies like Google have nothing to do with the institute but the student's hard work.
  • Being a government college the administrative department is pathetic and laid back.
  • The Institute does not enjoy much reputation outside Delhi and is even unknown to many.
  • The campus is small around 140-150 acres and the infrastructure is in a pathetic state.
  • The institute has a policy of 85% reservation for Delhites which limits the crowd diversity and your college experience as a whole.
  • The college has a non-existent alumni network.

So, unless you have no other options it is better to not consider joining NSUT Delhi. You might end up ruining your career.

Why is IIIT Delhi not better than NSIT?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 21st, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Although IIIT Delhi has a better curriculum, academic environment, and even placement scenario, the opportunities offered at NSUT Delhi are no less. The average package of IIIT Delhi 2023 placements stood at INR 23.72 LPA while the median package of NSUT Delhi is INR 16 LPA.

However, these figures do not mean much for a fresher because IT giants like Google have the same recruitment procedure for every college. Students from all colleges be it a top NIT, IIIT-D, NSUT, or a local college were given equal chances to appear for its interview.

Surprisingly, even NSUT Delhi gets enough offers from Google so placements have nothing to do with the curriculum you have studied. NSUT students are all-round coders whereas IIIT Delhi students are proficient only in competitive coding. Even the number of students getting into IIMs is more for NSUT than IIIT Delhi.

So, NSUT is much better than IIIT Delhi because of the crowd quality and education.

NSIT organizes an amazing cultural fest and also has many societies, clubs, and sports facilities. Overall, I will suggest freshers who are certain of pursuing a career in research in computers or communication, signal processing, etc to join IIIT Delhi but if you are uncertain about your inclination, choose NSIT Delhi. It will guide you!

Among NIT Delhi, DTU, and NSIT, which one is better in terms of placement?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : July 5th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

I assume you are a fresher and that’s why you are evaluating a college's worth through its placements. In reality, the placements released by these colleges are not precise so aren’t a credible criterion. You will be surprised to know that even top institutes like IITs are not able to achieve 100% placements. Even NSIT and DTU which show high packages of cries, are quite misleading. These high packages fail to show the situation of the average students that receive low packages and sometimes even remain unplaced.

As for NIT Delhi, it’s still in its development phase and also has an average placement scenario. However, it has a good placement percentage and even average students manage to get a job easily. Nevertheless, I have done a comparative analysis of the placement scenario of these institutes.

Particulars

NIT Delhi (2021)

NSIT

DTU

Number of recruiters

73

403

Highest CTC

INR 46 LPA

-

INR 1.8 CPA

Average CTC

INR 10.054 LPA

INR 16 LPA (median)

INR 15.16 LPA

Top Recruiters

Adobe, Amadeus, Avalara, Code Nation, etc.

Microsoft, Amazon, Texas Instrument, Google, Qualcomm, Cisco, Hero Moto Corp, etc

Samsung, Instabase, Atlassian, Sprinklr, Amazon, Alphonso, Salesforce, Microsoft, Adobe, etc

From the above statistics it can be inferred that DTU has the best placements followed by NSIT and NIT Delhi.

How will be the placement in NSIT mechanical?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 21st, 2023

The first placement drive for the Mechanical branch of NSUT was held in 2019 and my brother participated in it. The offers received were a combination of the following

  • Core Jobs: Students of Mechanical and MPAE branches were after core jobs and quite a few companies visited the college. Some of these were Hero, Vedanta, Reliance, Anand Automobile, Rockwell Automation, IGL, etc. In all, 10 students from ME were placed in core companies.
  • Non-Technical Jobs: The maximum offers came from non-technical companies for a number of profiles like Data Analytics, Business Development, etc. Some non-technical recruiters included ZS Associates, Deloitte, Cogoport, BCG, Bain, etc. All, 20 students from ME got placed in non-technical companies.
  • Technical Jobs: These jobs are scanty and most companies prefer recruiting a bow average candidate for the Circuit branch than an above-average student of the core branch. A few technical companies that visited were OLA, OYO, and WIPRO. In all, 5-7 students from ME were placed in IT companies.

This scenario is from 2019 and things might have become better now. Since the institute does not release official figures, here is what I got from a friend.

  • NSUT Delhi Mechanical Engineering's highest salary package offered is 24 LPA.
  • NSUT Delhi Mechanical Engineering average salary package offered ranges between 9 LPA - 12 LPA.
  • The branch records 100% Placements
  • Top recruiters include Hero, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Honda, Bajaj, PSU, etc.,

Hope you now have a better understanding of the placement scenario of NSUT Delhi Mechanical Branch.
