If you're trying to decide between IIIT Delhi and IIIT Allahabad, know that IIIT Delhi is better in many ways. 

However, it's true that both IIIT Delhi and IIIT Allahabad aren't as good as IIIT Hyderabad at the moment. That being said, don't be surprised to see IIITD catching up soon, given its impressive progress over the years. In fact, IIITD has nearly doubled its campus size this year, and as a government university, the facilities and infrastructure are shocking - indoor heated swimming pool, stylish buildings and hostels, and awesome wifi speed.

Ultimately, whether to choose ECE or CSE depends entirely on your interests.

It's worth noting that IIIT Hyderabad's ECE program is superior to both IIIT Delhi's CSE program and IIIT Allahabad's CSE program.

The variety of departments, faculty, and peer groups at IIT Madras can never be rightly compared with that of IIIT Hyderabad. This institute is small with a batch size of only 200-300. Even the faculty pool is small, comprising around 100 professors. There are limited branches with ECE and CS being the primary branches of the Institute. Being a non-government organization, it tends to grow faster than IITs but faces many obstacles on the way.

Despite it all, IIIT Hyderabad has a rich research culture at the UG level. Most dual degree and Honors students conduct excellent research work that makes it to some renowned conference/journal that is at tier-1 status internationally. The core courses are offered much earlier than other institutes such that students are ready to conduct research by the end of 2nd year.

The UG students are given attention in their academics and are taught to handle challenges and rigor. Many top institutes don’t pay much attention to UG students mainly because of their high strength. But IIIT Hyderabad faculty pays exceptionally high attention to them and harnesses their skills to the fullest. Even seniors contribute to making the students feel welcome in the Institute.

IIT Madras on the other hand guarantees a more diversified experience for UG students. After BTech, the IIT tag might help you avail better opportunities.

If you are ready for a focused academic experience in ECE or CS or both, then IIIT Hyderabad is the right place for you. It will provide a smooth transition from coursework in the initial 2 years with top-notch research in the last 2 years. But if you want to explore more options and want to experience diversity, then IIT Madras is the right option for you.

Like any other person, I give more emphasis on average packages to judge a particular course or an Institute. Here, the average package of Metallurgy at IIT Madras is INR 15 LPA whereas that of ECE at IIT Hyderabad is INR 29 LPA. 

Now, many people may not find the average package justifiable criteria to judge a course. For them, I have listed some points about both institutes and they are free to make a decision based on what appeals to them the most.

IIIT Hyderabad 

• The average package of the course you want to take is higher
• The Institute is situated in the Technical hub of the country, Hyderabad 
• IIIT Hyderabad admissions are done solely based on merits and there are no reservations at all
• You will get a grasp of many CS related subjects and become proficient in coding and computer networks

IIT Madras

• It offers a rich campus life experience and creates thousands of good memories here
• It’s cultural fest is considered one of the best in the country and shouldn’t be missed
• The infrastructure is top notch with a massive campus loaded with a lot of amenities like cafés, playground, and swimming pool.
• Excellent exposure is provided through inter IIT Tech Meet wherein you get to interact with geniuses from different IITs.
• Opportunities for you to pursue a Ph.D. from top foreign universities 
• IITs conduct open placements and irrespective of your branch you can get placed in Consultancy, Finance, Software, etc.
• Another option is becoming a teacher in an IIT that guarantees a good stable pay 

All in all, IIT Madras offers a more laid back experience while IIIT Hyderabad strictly focuses on core studies.

Both IIT Madras and IIIT Hyderabad are considered prestigious especially when it comes to CS as both offer excellent education and opportunities in the same. Some pointers that might help you decide are

• The coursework for CS at most IITs focuses more on semester exams than exams which are not justified for the CS branch which requires a lot of assignments and a research-oriented approach. IIT Madras will just give you an IIT tag that might help you in the future.
• I think IIIT Hyderabad has a much better curriculum for CSE that combines both theoretical knowledge and practical implementation. The students at IIIT Hyderabad can be seen building software or implementing research papers as part of the project.
• Additionally, they are busy completing assignments that provide a practical approach to their knowledge. These projects and assignments are very crucial for a CS student and by the end of the program, you will have many projects and papers up your sleeve to add to your resume.

As far as placements are concerned, both institutes get a fair share of companies offering good packages.

CSE department of both IIT Kharagpur and IIT Hyderabad is top notch offering the best coursework and coding culture.

But here’s the thing about CSE, it consists only of coding. In case you later find out that you are not really interested in it, joining IIT Hyderabad might prove to be a wrong decision. On the other hand, IIT KGP has many branches to choose from and also has noncore companies for Finance companies visiting the campus. One can pursue their area of interest and does not have to stick to the branch he chose.

Another reason why people prefer IIT Kharagpur over IIT Hyderabad is the better peer group in terms of JEE Rank. This is because IIT KGP has a cutoff lower than IITH thus inviting only the best.

Thus, IIT KGP has a slight advantage over IITH as far as alumni network, peer quality, and variety of branches are concerned. IITH is a good option only if you are confident that you are interested in nothing but coding. Else IIT Kharagpur is always the better choice.

Placement-wise, IIT Bombay is clearly the winner, followed by IIT Delhi with IIIT Hyderabad and BITS Pilani almost similar 

Courses: Course-wise too, IIT Bombay wins the race accompanied by IIT Delhi, IIIT Hyderabad, and BITS Pilani subsequently.

International competitions: The order remains the same except BITS scores better than IIIT Hyderabad in this aspect.

Startup culture: The startup culture too is best at IIT Bombay, then IIT Delhi followed by BITS and Hyderabad.

\Alumni: IIT Bombay has the highest number of successful alumni across the globe after which stands IIT Delhi, BITS Pilani, and finally IIIT Hyderabad.

I don’t think it’s logical to compare extremely old and government-funded IITs with private institutes like BITS and IIIH. The alumni reach is also incomparable.

Every Institute has its unique aspects as well as its own strengths and weaknesses. Some factors to consider include the quality of the faculty, the resources available to students, the research opportunities, and the campus culture. 

IIT Roorkee, BITS Pilani, and IIT BHU CS are definitely excellent but IIIT Hyderabad wins the race when it comes to CS. It’s second only to IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, and Madras. Because of only 2 branches, the entire focus of the Institute is on CS only. The opportunities, ambiance, and faculty are aligned with the requirements for a good CS branch. Another good option is IIT BHU because of its high ROI.

Having known a few friends in all 4 institutes, I can confidently say that those who chose IIIT Hyderabad CS over IIT Roorkee are doing better now. The IIT tag certainly is helpful but only to a limited extent. The exposure provided by IIIT Hyderabad and its excellent placement opportunities overshadows the much coveted IIT Tag making it a better choice among all institutes. But those looking for stability, facilities, academia, and vast opportunities can go for IIT Roorkee.

Among these IIT Hyderabad is the best option for pursuing an MTech CSE. It offers a better environment, quality education, and amazing research culture. According to the highlights of IIIT Hyderabad MTech placements 2021, the average CTC offered for the CSE department was INR 23 LPA. 

Due to these factors, IIIT Hyderabad is better than new IITs like IIT Roorkee and IIT Hyderabad, for CSE.
