How many marks should I get in the CLAT for getting an admission into Nalsar and NLSIU?

AJ
Ashwin Joshi Posted On : September 8th, 2021
B.A.LLB (Hons.) from National Law School of India University, Bangalore (2018)

The marks required for getting admission change every year as the level of difficulty also changes each year.

According to some of my friends studying there, CLAT sets a tough paper one year and an easy paper the next year and vice versa. However, this should not be taken for granted.

  • If the paper is tough, then a score of 120-135 is enough to get admission to both colleges.
  • If the paper is easy then you need to score around 170-185 for securing the admission.
  • Basically, you need to be in the top 120 students of the CLAT test takers to secure admission and what is the actual score will depend on the level of difficulty of the paper.

Do not think of a particular score while attempting CLAT as this will hamper your chances. You should aim to give your best and attempt any number of questions you think are possible on your part.

What kind of hardships do students suffer in top law colleges like NLSIU, Nalsar or NUJS?

SS
Shaoni Sengupta, Posted On : October 25th, 2021
B.A.L.L.B. from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (2022)

One of my friends studied at NUJS. According to her, hardships have varied reasons from academics to personal.

  • The Cases/readings are worth easily 500 pages every day, preparing summaries/case briefs, Tutorials and then projects, presentations, vivas, and the tiring final semesters all comprise the academic hardships.
  • Due to internships, you will miss your vacations. Internships are a temporary glimpse into what life will be like.
  • After getting the grind to excel and to get placed / PPOs, some students suffer from existential crises, emotional upheavals, urge for infinite sabbaticals, etc.
  • The burden of studies and placements takes a toll on your personal life.
  • Case briefs become a reason for discord rather than unity.
  • The healthy competition suddenly gets replaced by a rat race.

Lastly, all the things like hobbies, extra-curricular, etc. disappear. But even after all the hardships, it still is the best time of a student’s life at NLSIU.

How is an MBA at Nalsar University?

JS
Janki Singh Posted On : September 8th, 2021
Studied at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2018)

NALSAR University of Law is a law university in Hyderabad. It started offering a two-year MBA program in 2013 only. As this is a very new program in the institute, things are not in place completely yet. As some of my friends studied there, here’s what I got to know:

  • The faculty are busy setting up the academics and the placement process.
  • While the students are also concerned about the placements and thinking of ways to improve them.
  • This has led to a situation where there is very little discussion on improving the system, how to make students responsible for managing the college, etc.
  • However, as this is a new course, you will get plenty of time to indulge in your studies and you can even take your own initiatives which not only will help you but also the college.
Categories MBA at NALSAR University
Course Fee 6.11 lakh
Highest CTC 12 LPA
Average CTC 8 LPA
Recruiting Companies S&P Global, Colgate, ITC, Jaro Education, etc.

If your sole intention is placements, then you should give this college a miss as it is still in its early phases.

How is life at NALSAR?

PS
Pritam Sharma Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Ph.D from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2020)

One of my friends is studying for a Ph.D. from NALSAR. As per her review, life there is busy, especially for youngsters. Classes go on till late, but the evenings are peaceful. The university has a beautiful campus with well-maintained gardens and wide roads. But it is far away from Hyderabad city. However, transport facilities are readily available.

Ph.D. students have hard luck. Being into research, they do not spend much time on campus. They work from remote locations. Overall, campus life is peaceful and ideal for academics.

Can we crack the CLAT with 1 month prep and get into NALSAR?

AC
Akarshita Chauhan Posted On : September 8th, 2021
Studied at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2017)

Yes, it is possible to get into a top-rank NLU such as NLSIU, NALSAR or WBNUJS, etc. But this all depends on the strategy you have prepared. There are some CLAT achievers who join for a crash course. They study 8 hours a day rigorously. So, to get the same performance in 1 month is nearly impossible.

  • For CLAT GK is a crucial component. It comprises 50 questions.
  • You need to go through 1 year of Current Affairs focused on the CLAT pattern which comprises awards, political and executive appointments, mergers, etc.
  • Download old CLAT papers and look into the types of questions.
  • After that, make a strategy and prepare accordingly.
  • The Maths section is of basic level. So going through NCERT books will be a lot of help.
  • Verbal is about reading, grammar, and vocabulary. So revise your grammar concepts from your books.
  • Legal Aptitude is the most crucial element in CLAT and comprises 50 questions and here where tuitions play a role.
  • A good law teacher can help you crack CLAT without any hurdles.
  • Logical reasoning is again like maths, reading, and logic. This requires you to master the concepts and practice immensely.

So, it is suggested that you join the tuition classes for a crash course and dedicate 8 hours of your time to CLAT preparation. Cracking CLAT will only be possible if you work hard.

Which is better: NALSAR or NLU-D?

AB
Akash Bisht Posted On : August 31st, 2021
B.A.L.L.B (Hons) from National Law University, Delhi (2022)

Having to know some people studying at both these institutes, I can say for a fact that if you want the original and the true CLAT experience then NALSAR would be the better option. But overall NLU-D is much better. They make the students academically strong and industry-ready.

NLU- D stands out due of several reasons: -

  • NLU-D has established its name in the top institutes in a span of 10 years. It will no doubt beat NALSAR one day too.
  • It has a fantastic faculty and infrastructure.
  • Moreover, NLU- D receives funds from the Delhi government to maintain the facilities provided to the students. Therefore the facilities provided are world-class.
  • NLU- D conducts national and international competitions and pays all the expenses of the participants
  • Being in Delhi, it receives better industrial exposure.
  • This helps in great internship opportunities. It also has guest lecturers visiting continuously from the High Court, Supreme Court and the Parliament.
  • It is considered as the leader in the fields of litigation and other legal studies.
Categories Nalsar NLU-D
Course Fee 6.11 - 8.55 lakh 4.28 lakh
Highest CTC 10-12 LPA 10-12 LPA
Average CTC 5-7 LPA 6 LPA
Recruiting Companies Byju’s, S&P Global, Deloitte, Colgate, etc. AZB, Luthra, TTS, etc.

NLU-D is the better option of the two considering placement, faculty, academics and infrastructure. Both NALSAR and NLU-D are one of the most reputed Law colleges of India. Both the institutes have some advantages and disadvantages when compared to each other. Both of these institutes are highly rated. So choose according to your preferences.

Can I crack CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) and get into NLSIU or NALSAR after taking Science in 12th?

SM
Sarthak Mehrotra Posted On : September 8th, 2021
Studied at National Law School of India University, Bangalore (2020)

If you want to appear for CLAT, it does not matter what stream you were following in your higher secondary years. CLAT does not check your knowledge about a particular stream but it tests your aptitudes.

  • If you work hard then you will definitely be able to get the admission nod from NLSIU or NALSAR.
  • Since you are in your 10(+2), manage your time carefully between preparing for your board exams and preparing for CLAT.
  • You must have a strong foundation in general knowledge, legal aptitude, English, mathematics or quantitative aptitude, and logical reasoning if you want to appear for the CLAT.

The exams tend to be very competitive and they are not as easy as they look. Try to take mock exams and solve the questions of the previous years to get acquainted with the pattern in which the exams are held.

Do freshers get ragged in NALSAR?

RU
Ritika Upadhay Posted On : September 8th, 2021
Studied at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2017)

Ragging is something one should not do and not let that happen with others if you see. But, still, there are few cases here and there of ragging but at a minor level, which is not seen anywhere now except a few.

Nowadays, the administration has become noticeably stricter on the subject of senior-junior interaction in the last few years. “Positive Interaction” has become much more positive, instead of some unwarranted interaction.

  • Moreover, there are many seniors on campus who would love to help you out in your first few days on campus.
  • One of my friends, who was in his fifth year, reached out to his junior and helped him with his queries.
  • One thing unique about NALSAR is that it has a great institutional set up that builds senior-junior relationships in the form of Tutorship.
  • They also help you out with moots, papers, projects, and in a variety of informal ways.

My friend did tell me that some of his tutors had been the most influential factor in his life. I hope you meet your share of favorite seniors too who would not only help you but guide you overall.
