Among the colleges present in the lot, I would advise you to choose NIT Silchar over NIT Agartala. I have a few friends at the institute and I have heard good things about the institute.
Here are a few of the reasons why NIT Silchar is a better alternative.
The above reasons should be enough to choose NIT Silchar.
Here are a few cons of joining NIT Silchar one must consider before marking the final decision
Honestly, I don’t find any other major issues with the other except that it has become a victim of false allegations and rumors. So if you are planning to come here, you are welcome!
The hostel allotted to first year B.Tech boys at NIT Silchar is known as P.G. Hostel. It is the best hostel in NIT Silchar and is shaped like a Swastika. A guard sits at the entrance.
The hostel is divided into four blocks- North, South, East, and West. The corridors are clean and spacious enough. The rooms are pretty decent, double seater, and have cupboards of a sufficient size. These cupboards have separate compartments.
There are two LAN ports and a balcony in each room. Each floor has its own library and study room. The terrace is a good place to get some scenic views and a breath of fresh air. The mess is divided into two floors- The ground floor serves non veg food and the first floor serves veg food. The mess also has an LED TV. There are four water coolers in total. Washrooms are available on every floor of each block, and are decent. The hostel premises are spacious and contain a cricket ground, a badminton ground, and a volleyball ground.
Thus, NIT Silchar has decent hostel facilities for first year B.Tech boys.
There are no ‘best’ branches as the primary purpose of diverse branches is to cater to diverse interests. One branch may be good for you but not for someone else and vice versa.
Faculty-wise, the Civil Engineering department is the best followed by Mechanical. ECE and EE also have good faculty strength.
On the basis of coding culture, CSE has the most talented students.
The course-wise NIT Silchar Placements 2022 statistics have been tabulated below:

Yes, it's true that NIT Silchar is a ragging-free campus. There is a harmonious bond between juniors and seniors. The seniors are always ready to help you in any way. There is a very strong and functional student union body. The positive ambiance here protects all the juniors from being harassed in any way.
The Gymkhana Union Body is the student union body that caters to all types of complaints lodged by students. It acts as a bridge between the students and the authorities.
The seniors organize the general as well as the branch freshers for the juniors. The seniors are very hardworking and organize a number of events like the technical fest Tecnoesis, the NIT Conclave, and the cultural fest Incandescence. It’s the seniors who undertake the task of organizing events as well as encouraging the juniors to participate.
Overall, the seniors play a big role in grooming, guiding, and encouraging the juniors and helping them grow as a person. So ragging on campus is out of the question here.
Without second thoughts, IIEST is better than all the colleges you mentioned. The institutes that are better than IIEST are the top 7 IITs, BITS Pilani, IISc.
The leading factor of IIEST that sets it apart from other colleges is its extensive research strategies. Some have been highlighted below:
Developed India's First Smart Grid
Developed Solar Rickshaw for Howrah Municipal Corporation
CEGESS centre at IIEST is among the Best in India in areas of clean energy and sensors systems.
IIEST has collaborations with University of Queensland, University of Hiroshima, University of South Wales, Hokkaido University, Zurich University among others
Other amazing facts include:
Research Projects: Rs. 47 Crores
Consultancy Projects: Rs. 13 Crore
Publications : 2000
Citations : 5000
All this has been achieved by only 220 faculties in less than 3 years.
If IIEST is worthy of comparison to any of the colleges you have mentioned then it is NIT Jalandhar. The academic excellence is very similar. But other colleges don’t even stand in the race to compare.
NIT Silchar is definitely better than NIT Jamshedpur in all possible aspects. I am not saying this just because it's ranked much higher than NIT Jamshedpur, but NIT Silchar's research culture and placement statistics are way better than NIT Jamshedpur. Despite operating from a place where there are issues related to communication, transportation, and development, it has become one of the top NITs. The students are left in awe of the beauty of the campus.
I will suggest never comparing colleges on the basis of placements alone. N that case many private colleges have better placements yet people run after IITs and NITs because of the brand value, the crowd, the legacy, and the research activities. It's a well-known institute among the faculty and students of top IITs. The Director Prof. S. Bandyopadhyay is working on improving the institute's reputation by holding many national and international events.

Go for NIT Silchar without thinking twice!
I asked a senior at NIT Silchar about its MTech program and had quite a detailed conversation. He concluded it by saying the MTech program here was in a poor state considering the academics as well as job opportunities. He further stated that he wouldn’t recommend it to anyone because he himself regrets it big time.
Apparently, the MTech placement scenario at NIT Silchar is pathetic and the placement percentage is very Leo. Even the ones getting placed don’t secure a very good package. Surprisingly some of the MTech professors are forbidden from teaching BTech students because of their poor teaching style and knowledge.
So, I wouldn’t recommend you to join NIT Silchar if you actually want to pursue a Master's degree.
In my opinion, NIT Silchar is way better than NIT Raipur. Earlier, the institute faced connectivity issues and therefore wasn't a much preferable choice but the recent developments have solved the issue. NIT Silchar spreads across a whooping 624 acres and has a rich collection of flora and fauna. The institute is known for its numerous lakes, top-notch infrastructure, and excellent net connectivity.
The faculty pool is a mixed bag with both good and bad professors. The seniors are people you can look to and seek help anytime. The research culture is slowly improving although NNITs in general don't have much reputation in research. NIT Silchar has the biggest digital library.
Coming to The placement scenario, it's very promising, especially for the CSE and ECE branches. NIT Silchar placements 2022 recorded 94+ recruiters and offers from Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Arcesium, Intuit, etc. Students received 537 offers in all and the highest salary recorded was INR 44 LPA which was offered by Amazon. The average package stood at INR 13.58 LPA.
I don't mean to undermine NIT Raipur in fact its Metallurgy branch is one of the best. But as a whole, NIT Silchar seems to be a more favorable option for you.
I have a friend who is an ex-student of NIT Silchar. He shared a number of things he experienced here and taught him to survive.
In all, the 4 years here will teach you a lot through diverse experiences and most likely shape you into a better person.
