If you are talking about service-based placement then, you will have good opportunities at Karunya. Many companies like Accenture, IBM, TechMahindra, Cognizant visit the campus placements. The average salary offered by service-based companies ranges from 2.7 LPA - 3.5 LPA.
However, there are very few product-based companies visiting the campus placements. Some of the product-based companies that visit the campus placements are Nutanix, Netapp, etc. These companies also take a limited number of students, 1-5 at maximum.
Also don’t expect reputed MNCs like Microsoft, Facebook, etc.
Overall, Karunya offers decent placements. Around 80-85% of students get placed, every year. The highest CTC offered last year was 25 LPA.
There are no placements for food technology at Karunya University. I personally know a few alumni of the university who were offered to shift their branch from food technology to any other branch because there were only 14 of them in that batch.
If you are really interested in food technology then, I would suggest you make a plan for higher studies before taking admission in the food technology branch of Karunya University. Also, do not rely on the university for placements. They only focus on placements of IT, CSE students. Overall, the average CTC offered at the institute is 3-4 LPA.
Cybersecurity is a great discipline for a PG degree in Computer Science. It has huge scope in research and jobs in the industry.
However, Karunya University is deemed to be a university with minority status. It ranks lower than IITs, NITs, IIITs, Central Universities, State Universities, and reputed Govt. University colleges like UVCE Bangalore, CEG Chennai, etc. However, their MTech program has tie-ups with foreign universities.
But don’t expect much from the University. I am saying this because my brother is an alumnus of the university.
The education quality of the University is poor. Only a few of the faculty members are academically qualified but, they are incapable of teaching. They lack the ability to provide real-time explanations for any problem. However, IAESTE is a way through which you can get exposure in your field of study. In fact, it is the only way through which you will get exposure in your field of study.
To conclude, Karunya University is definitely not the first choice for an M.Tech in Cybersecurity but it is not a bad choice either.
Yes, there is a proper dress code followed at Karunya University. It is as follows:
However, during functions at the university or any special occasions, you should wear University uniforms (blue blazers and ties). T-shirts or jeans of any type including cargo and low waist trousers are not permitted.
You must wear lab uniforms on lab days which will be mostly 3 days a week. ID cards are compulsory to carry with or wear.
One of my friends studied at Karunya University. According to him, it is very reputed in the country. The campus environment is peaceful and comfortable.
Hence, the rules and regulations of this university are very strict and you will have to abide by all the rules if you wish to study at this university.
There are many activities that you can do during the weekends at Karunya University.
Other than that students usually complete their assignments, wash clothes, binge-watch favorite series, and spend time with their friends, during weekends.
Both Karunya and Satyabhama are Christian minority institutions and it depends mostly on what you are looking for. You must know that Karunya University is strictly religious and they might force you to follow the same. Academics is their secondary focus.
Whereas, Sathyabama is a bit more lenient in this way. It offers great exposure due to its location in Chennai. It will be a better option for you when compared to Karunya. However, the facilities offered are not good and not even functional. The faculty members are also average and are not exceptional. It is currently a Deemed-to-be university
Both these institutes are subpar and if you really want to have a bright future, look for better options.
Karunya University is the best in terms of exposure and infrastructure which is required by the student in the overall development and to attain a good job.

Therefore, you can choose any course at Karunya University based on your interests and plan. If you feel mechanical engineering would be suitable for you, go for it, as Karunya is overall a decent university.
One of my friends graduated from Karunya University and he was enrolled in the 1st batch of Aerospace Engineering and was hesitant about the same. However, later on, the department has improved and now it offers great opportunities.
You can definitely go for Aerospace Engineering at Karunya University. It will be worth it.
Yes, the use of smartphones is permitted in the hostels of Karuna University and the premises of the campus. However, I would advise you that you do not use smartphones on the campus of the university, especially during lectures. If you are caught with a mobile phone by a faculty member or lecturer during class hours, then they would confiscate your phone. Some of them may return it by the end of the college hours, but some of them may not return it. This is why it would be better for you to not use your smartphones on campus during college hours.
In case you do bring along your cellphone to the college, make sure that you keep it in your bag and use it at the canteen or before and after college hours. You can also use your smartphones in restrooms or vacant classrooms.
Smartphones can be used any time in the hostel of the university, but I would recommend that you do not use them during study hours because you never know when the SRA would come for attendance. Be cautious during the study hours which are usually scheduled between 8:30 to 10:30 PM.
The rules and regulations vary every year at Karunya University. This is how my brother spent his college life during the academic sessions of 2012-2016.
