What is IIT Delhi best at among all the IITs?

KS
Kunal Sharma Posted On : April 10th, 2023
B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

IIT Delhi is indeed a well esteemed Engineering college in India. The best part about IIT Delhi is that it provides holistic development of the students rather than just focusing on academics. You get to explore and experience everything you can imagine in your life. You are able to multitask by the time you leave college.

The students here are not just academic geniuses but each one of them has a unique trait. Most students are all-rounders excelling in sports, academics as well as cultural activities.

An added bonus is the close proximity to DU colleges which form a network of colleges and students clustered together. The IIT Delhi students actively participate among students belonging to diverse streams of knowledge.

IIT Delhi's location is also a major reason why it is considered the best. While all other IITs are far from the city, IIT Delhi is located in the center of the city more importantly in South Delhi. This locational advantage brings tremendous opportunities in terms of placements and amenities.

The overall culture inside and outside the campus makes IIT Delhi a unique IIT in every sense.

Which way is better to do an MS general surgery and then take up neurosurgery as a superspeciality or the direct 6yrs Mch Neurosurgery course offered by AIIMS and NIMHANS after an MBBS?

SR
Swastika Roy Posted On : October 6th, 2021
MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degrees, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences

I know a person who is pursuing Neurosurgery and he does not feel it is not necessary to go through 3 years of MS general surgery before taking up neurosurgery. As a 6-year student, he was supposed to rotate through 10 months of general surgery.

He did not find general surgical skills that he acquired during the rotation, of much use in neurosurgery, other than the very basic knot tying and suturing skills, which can also be acquired through dedicated lab practice.

The other techniques followed in neurosurgery are significantly different from those followed in general surgery. The extensive use of the surgical microscope and bipolar coagulation for hemostasis distinguishes this surgical discipline from general surgery.

Today, neurosurgeons typically use access surgeons (thoracic surgeons or urologists) if they want to perform any unconventional approaches to the spine, which is much safer for the patient.

A lot of post-MS students don’t find much difference in incompetence or spectrum of surgeries and they are comfortable when compared with those having gone through six years of courses.

Globally, there is a trend towards running integrated courses only. Also, in India, pursuing a 6 years’ course after MBBS means you will have one less entrance examination to worry about.

Which IIT should I choose: IIT Mumbai or IIT Ropar considering and why?

GS
Gargi Sinha Posted On : April 20th, 2022
B.Tech, Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar

Given a chance between IIT Bombay and IIT Ropar, you should definitely go for the former. It is currently ranked higher than IIT Ropar. NIRF 2021 has ranked it 3 for B.Tech.

IIT Bombay is constantly ranked among the top engineering colleges in the nation. It is the favorite destination for almost all the JEE aspirants. IIT Bombay cutoff trends also indicate the same. You will need to score under 100 in JEE Advanced to get a seat at IIT Bombay.

Which college is best for an M.Tech in CSE, NIT Durgapur or IIIT Allahabad or IIITM Gwalior?

SV
Sudhir Verma Posted On : July 29th, 2021
Studied at Amity University (2019)

If you are going to take admission for M.Tech in any of these colleges it will be worth the choice. All are quite established and are doing great in curriculum and placements.

But there is always the best among the rest and hence, I would like to suggest you opt for NIT Durgapur. It beats both IIIT Allahabad and IIITM Gwalior. Also, regarding the two IIITs, IIIT Allahabad certainly does better than IIITM Gwalior in competitive programming and placements

  • On the other hand, NIT Durgapur holds strong ties with IIT Kharagpur.
  • The professors and students both are collaborating on various projects from both institutes.
  • The alumni base of NIT Durgapur is also strong. It includes IIT Kharagpur graduates who have completed or are currently pursuing higher degrees at IIT.
  • There is a better opportunity in NIT Durgapur as compared to others, in case you are prepared to utilize these.
  • If you will seek placement after M.Tech, go for Allahabad.
  • In case you are interested in research, I will recommend you to look at the faculty profiles in the respective departments, and make an informed choice.
Categories NIT Durgapur IIIT Allahabad IIITM Gwalior
Course Fee 1.32 lakhs 1.60 lakhs 1.84 lakhs
Highest CTC 24 LPA 25 LPA 19 LPA
Average CTC 8-10 LPA 12 LPA 11 LPA
Recruiting Companies Wipro, Infosys, etc. Accenture, HP, etc. Capgemini, Cognizant, etc.

It is suggested you go for NIT Durgapur. Definitely, do your side of research as well for a clear choice among all the three colleges.

Which is better - FMS or IIM Kozhikode?

RD
Rahul Dasgupta Posted On : July 5th, 2022

FMS Delhi is better than IIM Kozhikode. It offers better ROI. According to the recent highlights of FMS Delhi placements, students receive an average CTC of around INR 32.4 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 58 LPA.

FMS has a smaller batch size compared to IIM Kozhikode. So, it’s easier for students to get decent placements. FMS is older than IIM Kozhikode and hence has a larger alumni base.

Is IET Lucknow comparable to NIT?

AU
Akshat Uniyal Posted On : November 10th, 2022
Lives in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India

Of course, if you look at the faculty, placements, and atmosphere, it is very similar to NITs.

In terms of a student competition, due to the 50% state quota in all NITs, many students with very low scores get into NITs, but in a state like UP, it is extremely difficult to get into NIT even after the state quota due to massive competition. Furthermore, students who take admission in IET have a very good rank in UPSEEE; they are those students who have a decent rank even in JEE Mains but do not go to NITs due to branch issues, so students here are also good. The most important aspect is that you will receive excellent preparation for future studies such as GATE and CAT. This is not available in many NITs because they are located in cities with no coaching institutes.

Which is best, BITS Pilani for CSE or NIT Trichy for CSE?

VS
Vaani Singh Posted On : March 24th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India

If you are considering higher education, it is important to choose an institution that is best suited to your needs and goals. Among the top choices are the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and private institutions like BITS Pilani. While BITS Pilani is a great private institution, it is important to consider the factors that set NITs apart.

Here are some reasons why you should consider NITs as your first preference:

  • Lower fees: NITs are run by the Government of India, and as a result, their fees are lower compared to private institutions like BITS Pilani. This makes NITs a more affordable option for students who want quality education without incurring a large debt burden.
  • Edge over jobs: If you graduate from a government institution like NIT, you can get a good edge over jobs. NITs are well-respected and have a strong reputation in the industry, which can help you secure a good job after graduation.
  • Clubs and Activities: NITs have various clubs and societies that cater to students' interests and skills. These clubs provide a platform for students to explore their interests and enhance their skills, making them more well-rounded individuals.
  • Innovation: NITs are known for their focus on innovation and research. They provide students with ample opportunities to apply their knowledge and innovative ideas through various projects, internships, and research programs.
  • Institution of National Importance: NITs are institutions of national importance and are recognized as such by the government. This means that they receive significant funding and support, which translates into better infrastructure, facilities, and faculty.

In conclusion, while BITS Pilani is a good private institution, it is important to consider the advantages that NITs offer. With lower fees, a strong reputation, ample opportunities for innovation and research, and a range of clubs and activities, NITs are an excellent choice for students who want to pursue higher education in India.

Which is good, ITM Navi Mumbai or Jaipuria?

HS
Hiran Shah Posted On : June 8th, 2021
CSE IIT BHU (2018)

Jaipuria Institute of Management is the best choice in terms of faculty, campus life, industry experience and placements. My friends have studied here and had the best experience of their academic life.

  • The faculty members are well-experienced and most of them have a Ph.D. degree with 10-15 years of industry exposure.
  • The class environment at the institute consists of practical exposure. It will help you in building practical skills. You will be taught about the industry and its functions.
  • The students here are constantly engaged in extra-curricular activities and a lot of events are also organized.
  • There is a lively atmosphere at both hostels and classrooms.
  • The fee structure can be an issue for some students as the total fee for PGDM is 10.55 Lakhs.

Placements for PGDM are excellent and various well-known companies visit the campus for recruitment. The salary packages offer a good return on your investments.

For the recent batch of 2020, the highest package offered was 19 Lakhs by Amazon and the highest International package recorded was 14.3 Lakhs. Top recruiters for this session were HDFC Bank, IDFC Bank, HCL, and Deloitte.

lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Here is a comparison between IIEST Shibpur and NIT Silchar based on some common aspects

  • Academics: The quality of education and faculty pool is better at IIEST than at NIT Silchar. So if you are more focused on your studies then IIEST will be better for you.
  • Location : IIEST Shibpur enjoys a better location advantage as it’s in Kolkata whereas NIT Silchar is located in a remote city devoid of much exposure and opportunities.
  • Placements : The placement scenario is somewhat similar in both colleges NIT Silchar's highest package stood at INR 44 LPA while IIEST Shibpur's highest package stood at INR 45 LPA.
  • Reputation: IIEST Shibpur is one of the oldest engineering colleges so has developed a rich legacy and reputation over the years both in and outside India.
  • Competitive exams: IIEST Shibpur has a huge r success rate in competitive exams like GATE, CAT, etc.

How is KIIT better than VIT, SRM and Manipal?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : July 26th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

I would place these institutions in this rank-

  1. MIT (Main Campus- Manipal)
  2. VIT
  3. SRM
  4. KIIT

However, KIIT will overtake VIT and SRM because the academics and placements at this institution are getting better over the years.

As an alumnus of MIT, here are a few reasons why I have placed MIT in the top:

  1. Top Engineering streams like CSE, IT, Mech, ECE, and EEE at MIT are as good as the NITs.
  2. It has only merit-based seats and no management quota. On the other hand, in KIIT and other institutions, the majority of intake is from management quota.
  3. The All India MU-OET exam brings in a good crowd at MIT. The campus life, faculty, and alumni are also great.
  4. MIT has a decent placement record and a great campus life. During placements at MIT, I sat for 50 companies and by the end received 3 placement offers. Currently, I am working at TATA Motors.
  5. If the high fee is not an issue for you, MIT is the best option after IITs, BITS, and top NITs.
  6. People tolerate opposing views and the approach is more egalitarian at MIT.
  7. MIT student has the distinction of being an undergraduate with the highest number of research papers in the country to his credit (22 research papers in 4 years).

Though KIIT is a good institution with improving academics and placements, I would say that MIT ranks the highest among the four.
