Is there any academic difference in the first and second shift in MAIT?

PY
Preeti Yadav Posted On : July 1st, 2021
Ph.D Computer Science, BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus

No, there is no academic difference in the first and second shifts in MAIT. Faculty members are almost the same for both shifts. Students enrolled for the second shift are provided with the option to attend classes during the first shift. The opportunities provided by the college are also the same for the students of both shifts.

During placement and recruitment drives, both shifts are treated equally without any biases. Students generally choose and are advised to choose the first shift if provided with the choice.

The advantages of getting into the first shift over the second shift are as follows:

  1. The first shift has more Gender diversity when compared with the second shift.
  2. Students enrolled in the first shift get more chances to indulge in extracurricular activities than students of the second shift.
  3. Students of the first shift are inside the campus during the most productive hours of the day. This is not the case for the students of the second shift.

One of my friends was enrolled in the 2nd shift in MAIT and according to his experience, he did not have much difficulty with being enrolled in the second shift. Finally, the decision is up to you make based on your comfort and requirements.

Which is better, electronics and instrumentation in Thapar, IT in Maharaja Agrasen College, or CSE in Maharaja Surajmal College?

RD
Rahul Dua Posted On : June 8th, 2021
B.Tech. Information Technology, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2019)

I know people from these institutes and based on the conversations I had with them, I will say the preference order should be somewhat like below.

CSE MSIT ~ IT MAIT > ICE Thapar

Since you are considering different branches, it is clear that you don’t have any inclination towards a specific branch or specialization. If it’s true I will suggest don’t go for ICE Thapar. It is a core branch that already has fewer job opportunities in the industry. To score a decent placement at a core company for this branch you will need to be at the top of your class. Else, you are likely to end up in mass recruiting companies or software companies.

So, it will be better to stay in Delhi, it will be cost-effective, you can save up for your postgraduate degree and pursue what is in demand currently.

Which is better for me: MAIT or GBPEC Delhi?

SJ
Sharan Jha Posted On : June 1st, 2021
studied at Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College, Delhi (2020)

In terms of placements, it can be said that MAIT is pretty average. My friend is a Mechanical Engineer and according to his input, he does not recommend this institute. Good placement opportunities are available at GL Bajaj, PIET, and even HMR which are better than MAIT. The faculty at these institutes support their students entirely unlike MAIT.

MAIT is no longer what it used to be 10 years back. Students who even get into MAIT aren't aware as they refer to old reviews and they have no one around them who could guide them.

Here are some issues at MAIT:

  • Registrar Department- The people present here at the department are not cooperative at all. They are sitting there because of internal references by acquaintances and do not do their job diligently.
  • TPO Cell- Students, in a good bulk are placed at Accenture and Infosys which is a sheer mockery of their skill. This is done to add a little glamor to the alumni network. The cell is paid a price to get the students placed. And what's even worse is the cell, despite that, cannot invite reputed companies to the institute.
  • Director- The director could not even get a good rank at the institute throughout these years. Because of this, the students and the faculty stay demoralized most of the time.

Considering all of these factors that I have mentioned, it would be wise to not choose MAIT, especially for the Core branch.

I have friends at both MAIT and DSCE, so I think I can give you some information about the institutes, which may be helpful.

  • Location is the most important parameter that you need to consider while choosing one of these two institutes. As DSCE is in Bangalore and MAIT is in Delhi. Choose the location which is better suited for you.
  • Both institutes are reputed and will offer you good infrastructural facilities and placement opportunities. But if we consider CSE specifically then MAIT has an edge over DSCE. CS/IT is one of the best branches of MAIT and you will get ample opportunities there.

Here are the recent placement statistics for the institutes.

What should I take, IT in MAIT (IPU) or CSE in BVP, MSIT? I have a great interest in programming and my home is near to MSIT and BVP.

SJ
Suchandra Jha Posted On : July 5th, 2021

Speaking about IT and CSE, both are almost the same with some changes in their base subjects. Some of my friends graduated with IT and CSE degrees. According to them, apart from the first and second year, it’s the same. There are more languages in CSE.

  • In this case, your choice should depend on the college statistics and the placements. Your entire future is decided by this decision so consider the college and then the course properly.
  • Keep the course as your first preference and the college as the second.
  • The course of your choice will keep you more focused and keep you more determined.
  • In today’s world CSE has more value than any other subject whether it’s on or off-campus. It’s always in high demand and will stay for a very long time.
  • A close senior was from the ECE branch in MSIT and she got placed in HSBC with a package of 12 LPA as a software developer.
  • Companies recruit from some particular branches which are in more demand than others and also the core branches.
  • Your choice of subject will prove more beneficial than your college.

  1. MAIT: - It is the best among the given options with better placements stats, faculties, recognition, and better networks with the industry.
  2. BVP: - BVP is also a well-known institute for CSE and IT. It also has good stats of record placements.
  3. MSIT: - It is good in terms of faculty. When talking about placements it has a steady placement record.

Infrastructure and Facilities wise, MAIT has well-equipped labs with all the modern technologies and a large campus. BVP has a good Campus which is situated right near the metro station at a distance of 15 meters which makes for better communication. MSIT comes 3rd when it comes to infrastructure.

How do I change my shift from the second to the first at MAIT? I am a boy from Delhi.

SP
Snigdha Paul Posted On : July 22nd, 2021
Studied at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology

Changing shifts at MAIT is very easy and there is no need to worry about it. However, you must ask yourself these questions before shifting the batch - Did you wish to change your shift officially or did you simply want to sit and study in the classes which took place in the first shift?

  • In case yours is the first case, then you can easily change your shift from the university, and if your case is the second then you need to visit the Director-General of the college.
  • But first, write an application in which you pronounce the reason for changing the shift. Give a good reason for that, explain it well.

However, the second option might feel better to you in comparison with the first because then you will not have to spend 10,000–12,000 and you will be able to change it within 24 hours.

For that, you will have to talk to the Dean or the HOD of the department and give them a convincing reason to accept your request. The process will be easy because it involves the simple act of communication, and wouldn't require any formality, but your reason should be plausible enough for them to grant your request.

What should I do to get 80 % in 1st semester MAIT examination?

NS
Nupur Singh Posted On : June 28th, 2021
Studies Bachelor of Technology Degrees at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology

Firstly, and foremost, you should try and maintain good attendance records as it is one of the criteria according to which the internal marks are allotted.

Do not skip or bunk classes as you will be marked for attendance. Due to the shortage of attendance, one of my friends scored 67 in one of her subjects and she regretted it later.

Don’t leave any questions in the examinations and tests. Always try and attempt all the questions, even if you don't have any clue, write something about the topic. There have been many instances wherein students score more than what they attempted and expected to score.

Prepare a good presentation during the end-term examinations. Try to follow some of the presentations that you create and you can surely score well over 80 percent for your scorecard.
