If you are shortlisted for the Achiever's round at a management institute like Goa Institute of Management, you will receive an email with further instructions. You will have to book your interview slot from the options provided. You will have the choice of attending a lecture with current students or an option without class.
You will be required to reach the campus by 9 am on the day of the interview. You will be directed to a classroom where the document verification process will take place. A random allotment will be made among eight faculties/admin staff responsible for document verification. While filling out the form, you will be asked to write your three best achievements and provide proof for the same. Make sure to write only verifiable achievements.
You will be split into groups of 10-12 candidates for the Group Discussion. There will be two panelists (both faculties at the institute). This will be a mix of Group Interviews and Group Discussions. You will be given a minute to introduce yourself, and the panelists will then ask you to choose a topic for discussion. You will discuss current issues, and a topic will be given based on the work experience of all candidates. For example, "How do you handle Passive vs Aggressive bosses".
After the group discussion, you will have lunch, and then the PI round 1 will start. Here, two panelists (one male, one female) will interview you. The interview questions will be general and based on your work experience. You may be asked about your name, something about yourself, the best and worst brand you worked for, the marketing strategy for the institute, and any questions you may have for the panelists.
After the first round, you will be asked to wait back, and some names will be announced for the Director's round. If your name is called, you will have to wait in the reception area for your turn. The Director's round will be more intense, and you may be asked questions about your work experience and why you want to pursue an MBA. Make sure to prepare well for this round.
The Director's round questions will include topics like your work experience, marketing, sales, and real estate. There may be multiple panelists, and some may not ask any questions. You may be asked to explain your document verification process if it's not in place.
If you successfully complete the interview process, you may be given a spot offer. It's important to stay positive and confident throughout the process, even if you feel nervous. Make sure to prepare well and answer all questions honestly and to the best of your ability.
Of the three B-schools, my favorite would be GIM mainly because of the high ROI it offers. Also, the community you spend time with becomes your family. Spending 2 years in your program makes you closer to your juniors, seniors, faculty, and your own batchmates. There is tremendous harmony between everyone and you develop a sense of community while spending time with them. You don’t necessarily have to socialize to develop networks, the process is rather natural. You know almost everyone on campus and even some visiting alumni by their first name. You don’t have to necessarily be a part of a club or committee and can seek help or information from anyone at any anytime.
The faculty comprises professors with Ph.D. degrees and experience of more than 10 years. There is no compromise on the quality and GIM hires the best faculty.
GIM lays great emphasis on the holistic development of students by encouraging activities like movies, games, treks, outings, and extracurricular activities. This does not mean you can compromise in your academics. You have to equally focus on completing your assignments, projects, and other class readings. Balancing your academics with extracurricular activities is tough initially but once you get adapted to it, it will make your corporate life better in the long run. You will focus more than just your work and spend some time on extracurriculars also.
Goa Institute of Management is a good choice only if you are seeking more than just a degree. If you are seeking a rich learning experience and a community that will stay throughout your life, then this is the best choice for you.
The career prospects once you complete your PGDM from Goa Institute of Management depend largely on your specialization and the plethora of opportunities available. The overall placement has been decent but specialization-wise, there are continuous changes.
GIM is generally considered to be an average B School that does not even make it to the top 20. But its alumni have proven otherwise by achieving more than a top B School graduate. But this wasn’t a cakewalk and required a lot of determination and passion.
The career prospects are subjective and can be determined solely on your performance, specialization, and your determination. It’s not the same for all as GIM is not a top B School. You will have to pave your own way to success.
Taking a loan is a wise decision only if you are confident that you can risk the high fees and excel. You should be determined to achieve your goal while putting a hefty amount at stake. Once you are ready to go for MBA make a list of your most preferred institutes. Target the best B schools.
Goa Institute of Management is indeed a reputed B School and is rated amongst the best. Don’t be too hesitant to choose this one. The placements are the best not only in terms of average packages but also in the kind of roles offered and the kind of companies visited. Other factors on which GIM excels are its industry exposure, permanent and visiting faculty, and elaborate alumni network.
To be more certain contact alumni and enquire about the B Schools details. Having clarity of goals is a big step before making a big decision like taking a loan.
The best way to know if joining a certain program is worth it or not is to determine the ROI. This can be done by roughly comparing the fees with the average package. The table below shows the main statistics
Particulars |
Statistics |
Fees |
INR 18,31,200 (tuition) + ?2.04 Lakh (Hostel) |
Average package |
INR 10.40 LPA (2022) |
Highest package |
INR 29 LPA |
Now if we compare the fees for one year with the average package, you earn more in just one year. This talks of a high ROI. This program can be preferred over other programs mainly because of the higher ROI it offers than because of relatively lower fees.
The PGDM Big Data Analytics course is definitely a very good choice for someone who is interested in this field. GIM is among the top MBA colleges in India and has been maintaining the 100% placement mark for a long time.
The PGDM big data analytics is a techno-managerial course that has a 6:4 ratio of Analytics and Managerial concepts. This means that you will be working on managerial courses and also on how data is used in them.
The teaching methodology adopted is case-based. Students are required to work real-time on cases as a group or individually and have to come up with viable solutions.

My friend is currently pursuing a GIM PGDM BDA course and feels that the course is totally worth the fees he spent. The course is becoming a very coveted one because of the increasing demand for data analysts and scientists. Nowadays the Big Data industry is in full swing and is in great demand.
Moreover, this program's course structure, pedagogy, and faculty are industry relevant. The curriculum ensures the delivery of necessary knowledge, tools, and languages.
The course is a rich blend of basic managerial concepts with technical aspects in a ratio of 4:6.
My sister has recently completed her PGDM from Goa Institute of Management and based on her experience I can State many plausible reasons as to why you should join Goa Institute of Management
All these highlights make GIM a decent choice.
The worth of a certain course is determined by what you are expecting from the course. GIM PGDM course offers a general comprehensive view of Management whereas SRCC Delhi GBO offers a less comprehensive course. GBO has been losing its charm and is going through a very bad phase. GIM on the other hand is recovering fast and is reestablishing its value.
Talking about fees, GIM has higher fees than GBO. This might be an important factor for you so with both options carefully before making the final decision.
