Considering many reviews that Amrita University is not up to the mark, it is suggested to drop one year and prepare well so that you can get a good seat at NIT at least.
You can try BITSAT as well. But don’t spoil your future by going into any college, which you will regret throughout your life.

However, make the right choice. It is suggested you opt for better colleges and drop out and prepare for the exams this year. So that there will be a chance of getting into a better college.
In terms of exposure and placements, Amrita University Coimbatore campus is great. The university organizes regular tech events, workshops, and seminars to give the right kind of exposure to CSE students.
The placement record of the branch is pretty good. Amrita Coimbatore CSE average package is around INR 4.8 LPA. The highest CTC goes up to INR 35 LPA. Amazon, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, etc. are the major recruiters.
Before choosing the institute, you should decide on the branch. Among Computer Science and Mechanical choose what interests you and decide the institute based on that.
If you really have a flair for computer science and you love learning coding languages then Amrita University is the best for you. Apart from high rank, the university consists of many clubs that can help you in learning various domains and make you a perfect master in the field. Also, the infrastructure of the college is appealing with excellent facilities being provided to all the students including labs, library, and well-qualified faculty.

So, choose the branch first and decide on the college based on that.
If you have a valid GATE score, you can get direct admission to Amrita University Coimbatore. Students without GATE score needs to go through an examination and interview. The interview panel usually includes 5-7 interviewers. Most questions in the interview will be about your bachelor's degree major.
The interviwers may ask you to choose an area of interest, and they will ask questions about those subjects. The interview questions aren’t too difficult.
It depends on your interest. If you are well aware of EIE and have an interest in the branch then choosing VIT will be better. However, if you want to play it safe then go for CSE//ECE in Amrita University.
I have a few friends from Amrita University, and according to them the rules are very strict and the curriculum is also a bit challenging. The exams of Amrita University are generally very tough and you will have to work very hard to clear all the exams.
According to the placement highlights of recent years, the average and highest CTC offered at VIT are 6 LPA and 39 LPA. While at Amrita the median CTC offered is 3.5 LPA.
I will advise you to do your own research on the branches and make a well-informed decision.

It’s true that the institute is quite strict regarding the rules and regulations. But Amrita University is definitely a great choice for a CSE degree in terms of academics, exposure, placement, etc.
It depends on your future goals and interests. If you want to pursue a job afterward then CSE will be the best branch for you. It will give you better opportunities than any other branch. You can choose Mechanical if you are interested in the automobile sector. If you are interested in robotics then the ECE branch would be a better option for you.
The CSE branch is good at Amrita University because the college has various types of technical groups like FOSS. This group is dedicated to creating open-source projects and completing various technical projects like Google's summer code. There are a large number of selects for this kind of project as well. If you are interested in security systems then this college has got the number 1 CTF team. If you are interested in programming then there is a dedicated programming group as well. There are a large number of competitions held in these groups. These groups will strengthen your core skills. The faculties of the CSE branch are also quite experienced and cooperative.
Among these, Amrita University is better for studying CSE. It has a well-structured campus and offers decent facilities to students. Amrita University placements are good for CSE. Each year around 85% of students get placed through the campus drive. The salary packages offered are in the range of INR 3.5 LPA - 35 LPA. Google, Infosys, Microsoft, etc. are among the major recruiters.
For CSE, Amrita Coimbatore is a better option. With an AEEE rank of 568, you can get your desired branch at the institute. Amrita offers excellent facilities and learning resources. The institute offers opportunities of doing a lot of mini projects within the course itself.
Compared to other colleges in the state more recruiting companies visit Amrita Coimbatore placements. According to the recent placement highlights, students received an average CTC of INR 5.8 LPA.
