SP Jain doesn’t provide any specific course for PGDM in operations. They have one executive MBA in operations and Supply chain management. It’s 11 months and it requires a minimum work experience of 4 years. So, if you have relevant work experience in operations and just need to brush up your skills you should definitely go for SP Jain.

There might be as IIFT Delhi does not have a specific cut-off for 12th standard scores for admission to its MBA (IB) program. However, 10 percentage points of weightage are given to the 12th score. So higher your 12th score more beneficial it will be in your admission process.

Which is better in the long run, IIFT Delhi or any new or baby IIM?

AG

IIFT Delhi is way better than even New IIMs, let alone Baby IIMs. If you need evidence, you can look at how although IIM Shillong and other new IIMs were opened about 10–15 years ago, none of them are even close to IIFT Delhi’s ranking (I suggest you check genuine rankings like Inside IIM, Career Launcher and T.I.M.E). IIFT Delhi can only be compared to IIM Kozhikode and IIM Indore.

What do profile-trading companies look for in students at IIFT Delhi when they pick candidates for summer internships or final placements?

IS

Two items are sought for by traders:

  • knowledge, but more importantly, trade enthusiasm
  • the capacity to make decisions

Knowledge & Passion

Basic knowledge of commodity and oil understanding for traders. like the peaks, troughs, and volume of well-known commodities. Your viewpoint on a certain product or the global economy. How do you stay informed about news? For example, do you understand how to use the Bloomberg Terminal? What are your alternatives and duties?

Decisions

This is especially crucial when you attend interviews. They want to know about any situations where you had to make difficult choices, or else they might instigate something to make you the subject of a trade judgment.

Due to the fact that the majority of trade companies entering IIFT will offer positions where you will need to make difficult decisions on a regular basis and mistakes might be expensive!

They focus more on your attitude than your grades!

To take the best out of IIFT Delhi, first and foremost things is to attend all the classes and study hard, and second is to involve yourself in some kind of sports and cultural activities, there are too many sports competitions on Campus as well as in Delhi.

Every MBA college has so many clubs and committees like placements, sports, and cultural activities, so could be a part of one such committee, although the process to join them is pretty harsh, you can go for it. Lastly, you could explore Delhi and the places nearby, and make a good friend circle and connections.

What should be my strategy to convert IIFT Delhi? I'm a non engineer girl.

SR
Sunidhi Rastogi Posted On : May 26th, 2023

Assuming that you passed the IIFT exam for this year, keep it straightforward. You have an advantage over other applicants that are applying as engineers because your profile is unique. Also, a non-engineering candidate gets a 5-point entra over the engineering candidates and also 2 points for gender diversity in the final selection process. You just need to take advantage of that.

Be knowledgeable about your graduation accomplishments and how you may use them for your MBA. You should also consider how an MBA can improve your skill set and enhance your professional career. If you effectively prepare your answers, you can easily make it through to IIFT Delhi in the first shortlist.

However, if you plan to take the IIFT the following year, there is no specific guidance for passing the exam other than practicing hard, being aware of your abilities, and doing what you can to minimize your weaknesses.

Does the IIFT Delhi interview panel rejects students because of a poor past academic and co-curricular record in college and school?

AK

The final score calculated for shortlisting gives 73% weightage to the IIFT score and only 20% to past academic records.

For the Final selection criteria, IIFT Score weighs 45 % and WAT, GD, and PI weigh 40% and academic consistency is just 8%.

You must score well in IIFT and perform well and WAT, GD, and PI to convert your dream B-School.

How much salary do the last 50 MBA students get at final placements at B Schools like IIM Indore, IIFT Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SIBM Pune, etc.?

TA

Colleges invite companies for placements on the basis of the preference list created by the students themselves. This means that the most preferred companies visit in the initial days while the least preferred companies visit towards the end. This eventually means that the last of the batch gets placed by mediocre companies.

Now here is a fact, sometimes the companies visiting at the end in order to get higher preference and attract maximum students, offer high packages that are at par with the preferred companies.

My uncle was a placement coordinator at IIFT a few years ago and gave me an insight into the placement scenario of such B Schools. Numerically speaking if the median salary of a particular B School is X, then the packages offered to the last 59 students would be around 0.6X-0.7X.

College Name

Median Salary

Salary expected by last 50 candidates

IIM Indore

INR 24.09 LPA

INR 16.8 LPA

IIFT Delhi

INR 25.6 LPA

INR 17.9 LPA

MDI Gurgaon

INR 24 LPA

INR 16.8 LPA

SIBM Pune

INR 20.80 LPA

INR 14.5 LPA

The approximate salary offered to the last 50 candidates of the B Schools you mentioned is around 15-17 LPA.

Kindly note that these figures are based solely on guesses and anecdotes from my juniors, and are just meant to give an idea of the salary.
