Haldia Institute of Technology is the first private engineering college for Mechanical Engineering. It is considered as one of the best 10 branches in the institute.
Nowadays, HIT is not offering good teaching methods in mechanical engineering due to a lack of good faculty members. The lab facilities are very good and well-equipped with the latest technologies like IC Engine, Thermal, Production, Manufacturing, Mechanism, Metrology, and welding labs.
One of the main factors here is the placement records. The placement for the core branches is not that good. Only a few percent of the students get packages above 11 LPA. The majority of the students end up with packages near about 5 to 7 lakhs per annum. The remaining students receive packages up to 3 lakhs per annum.
Recent placement status: -
The preparation for GATE is the best part as students get a lot of time and help from the institute.
Haldia Institute of Technology had a glorious past, marked with excellent placement and achievements of students in various fields. But, at present, it is not in a good state. Considering most reviews, it is not an institute recommended for students.
The points below give a brief overview of the institute:
The points above may be disappointing for new aspirants, but this is the truth. There are several much better institutes which candidates should opt for. You should go to colleges in big cities, which usually have better exposure, surrounded by corporations.
You can use their free time a lot better in those institutes, developing their skill set. Even though the core branches in HIT can be somewhat considered, CSE and IT are not at all recommended.
On the academic front, HIT excels in the field of biotechnology. This department's faculty members are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They also offer a variety of hands-on practicals to help you better understand the subject. If you are seriously interested in studying Biotechnology, HIT is one of the best places to get it.
There will be few opportunities for placement in your core sector. 1-2 companies from the core sector, such as ITC/Parle, come to campus to recruit. There have been cases where students have landed internships in well-known companies before finishing their courses. So, basically, it all depends on you; if you have good grades, your chances of getting a job out of college are very good. If not, the IT sector is always an option.
Haldia Institute of Technology is a good college with good value for money and lively campus life. It is excellent for the CSE program. However, it is entirely up to you how you utilize it. If you can do self-study and learn new things on your own, you will be very successful in any field.
Nevertheless, most recruiters come to the college for recruitment. Some local startups may also attend, but the package may not be as generous. It is advised that you do not wait for a company and instead go off-campus.
One of my friends was a student of the Haldia Institute of Technology and as she was from Delhi, she had to opt for the hostel. As much as I remember she had no problem with the hostel facilities but there were a few non-major issues she had.
Therefore, the hostels are quite amazing with all the security you’d as for.
Both colleges are on par with one other in terms of faculty and academics. Both, Haldia Institute of Technology and Heritage Institute of Technology are approved by AICTE and private universities located in West Bengal. But if you are passionate about chemical engineering, aim for IITs.
Both colleges offer Bachelors in Technology in Chemical Engineering. Discussed below are some details about the Chemical Engineering courses offered by these two institutes.

About 7-8 years ago, all or most of the current faculty of the Heritage Institute of Technology used to be part of the Haldia institute of technology. So there is no big difference in the degrees offered by these two institutes. You only get different degree certificates from HIT and MAKAUT.
Above all, it is suggested to prepare for JEE so that you can choose a better or equivalent institute to IIT. Because college name matters.
Haldia Institute of Technology is the better choice of the two due to the following reasons.
