I am a CSE student at KIIT. In my batch, there is a 10-pointer as well as a 7.5-pointer. I myself scored 9.31 in my first sem. I scored 85% in AISSCE but there are also students in my class who scored above 90%.
During our KIIT counseling, we were to be allotted our branches based on our ranks in the KIITEE. CSE seats were filled quickly. This is because the first preference of students is CSE, then EE, and then come the other branches like Mechanical, Civil, and others. The best rank holders in KIITEE choose the CSE branch.
CSE students at KIIT are not only good at their studies, but they are also very active in extracurriculars. The CSE department hosts great freshers’ parties and CSE has a good share of coordinators in fests and other events.
Overall, CSE students in KIIT are hardworking individuals who perform well not only in studies but also in other extracurricular activities.
I am a third year student at KIIT. Till now, my experience has been great. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time over here and made some great friends.
KIIT is a good institution with great facilities. It is, however, a little on the expensive side. The students are not pressurized unnecessarily in the name of studies, which is a good thing. The campus life is also great over here.
A lot of companies visit the campus. Some years ago, some big IT companies did not visit the campus for placements. The institution compensated by bringing in startups and even, surprisingly, some BPOs.
Apart from studies, the students of KIIT make use of opportunities to go for various extracurriculars and indulge in hobbies that they couldn’t practice before due to family pressure or other circumstances. Many students even decide to pursue their passion.
Alumni of KIIT like Amandeep Khayal (Amandeep Singh) and Kartik Bhagat decided to choose their passion over Engineering.
Bhubaneswar as a city does not offer much to the youth. However, KIIT is a good institution and you will spend some of the best years of your life over here.
You’ll get an admission at KIIT. You don’t need to worry on that front. But the main issue is regarding placements. Most IT and core companies have an eligibility requirement of 60% or more in 10th and 12th boards. Though some companies don’t have a strict minimum requirement.
But the point is, if you want to sit for a good number of companies during placements, you’ll need at least 60% in your 12th boards. This does not apply only to KIIT, but every university/college.
If you are enquiring In terms of placements then obviously CS is the best BTech branch not only in KIIT Bhubaneswar but in every engineering college.
Out of the total recruiters, the majority seek only CS students so their placement opportunities are clearly better than students of other branches. This is exactly why many students of core branches learn coding to apply for CA companies.
Other branches that are good options include ETC Mech automobile, IT, etc. However, ETC has tough core subjects like AEC and SD in the second year that might affect your CGPA.
My personal opinion would be to give maximum preference to CS. For this, you need to study hard and work on your coding skills and you will get a job that will help you replay the money you have spent.
Generally, with the right mindset and hard work, every branch has its own benefits and it’s a matter of personal preferences.
I would place these institutions in this rank-
However, KIIT will overtake VIT and SRM because the academics and placements at this institution are getting better over the years.
As an alumnus of MIT, here are a few reasons why I have placed MIT in the top:
Though KIIT is a good institution with improving academics and placements, I would say that MIT ranks the highest among the four.
KIIT has placements in slots, like Day 0, Day 1, Day 2, and so on. Various companies offer placements to B.Tech students in both IT and Non-IT roles.
The top students get placement offers during Day 0. Companies like Deloitte, TEK Systems, iNautix, MuSigma, etc. visit the KIIT campus with high packages. MuSigma offers packages of around 18 lakhs for 3 years bond period. iNautix offers around 4 LPA. TEK and Deloitte offer around INR 5.5 LPA.
During Day 1, Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, and Wipro visit KIIT. Wipro does not hire Civil students. Accenture offers INR 3.5 LPA out of which 3.14 LPA is constant and the remaining is variable. Cognizant offers INR 3.33 LPA. Infosys and Wipro offer a maximum amount of INR 3 LPA.
During Day 2, TechM and Capgemini offer between 2.75 to 3 LPA. However, Think & Learn and other marketing companies pay a good amount to freshers. Microsoft, LnT, Amazon, Snapdeal, and other e-commerce companies visit the campus towards the end. During 2023, The IT Mass Recruitment Campus Drives generated 1300 job offers from companies like Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, Mindtree, Bosch, Ericsson, IBM, among others.
Thus, these are the placement trends at KIIT for both IT and non-IT roles.
As a first-year student at KIIT, pack all the basic things of your personal requirement. You will get more or less everything else from the college and the hostel itself.
The college dress code is a salwar suit for girls and formal shirt pants for boys.
In the girls’ hostel, after the first semester, the wardens may show some leniency and allow you to wear leggings and kurta instead of a suit and dupatta. This leniency is completely a warden’s choice. Pack these clothes accordingly.
During the first week at KIIT, you will have a school and university orientation. In it, you will be given all the important information in the central auditorium. After 2-3 days, you will get your laptop, books, bags, etc.
Both girls and boys hostels provide all the basic necessities to students. These include basic beddings, a mattress, a pair of bedsheets, buckets, etc.
You can carry extra bedsheets if you wish. Also, pack towels, personal things, and basic items like water bottles, toothpaste, body wash, pen stands, some containers, and hangers. You need not bring an induction if you are a girl student. This is because every girls' hostel has an induction on each floor.
You can pack straighteners, curlers, irons and other electronic appliances but at your own responsibility because the hostel does not allow it. However, it is obvious that none can do without an iron.
From books to notebooks, the college will provide you with everything. Bring a white and blue apron for the Chemistry and BMS labs. Also, bring a lock and key for your room and cupboard.
Do not worry much. You will love your stay here and make wonderful memories. I would say, make the most of your time at KIIT.
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology(KIIT) is one of the best colleges in the northeastern part of the country. It claims to have a record of more than 90% placement. A total of 4379 offers were made, out of which 3156 students were placed in reputed companies. The top recruiter of the college is Accenture.
SRM Ghaziabad is known for its record-breaking placement of offering 8409+ jobs to its students. The training and placement cell is the focal point of the institute, as it helped national and international recruiters. According to NIRF engineering ranking 2020, KIITS managed to secure 44th rank, Srm stands at 32nd position, Amity Noida secured 32nd position, all of them secure good rank nationally.
The placement depends on the type, ranking, students, and a lot more. All the colleges listed above have a good record of placement. Some have the highest number of students placed in CSE, the some in ECE. It purely depends on the choice of the student of what he/she chooses.
Initially, KIIT was a backup plan for me. I thought that because I couldn’t get into the IITs or BITS, I wouldn’t make a good engineer. KIIT completely changed my perception with its teaching methodology. I have grown immense confidence over here.
One of my teachers at KIIT guides me on the various opportunities that lie ahead for me. He also gives me valuable guidance on how I can become the best version of myself. We receive every tip and all the facilities that are needed to become a successful engineer. I feel that this is the place that I always needed.
KIIT has an Institute of Eminence(IoE) tag. One of my seniors got placed in his dream company, Robert Bosch.
Another published a paper in IEEE under her professor. An alumnus told me about the semester exchange program in Taiwan, the benefits of which he is reaping in his professional life.
There are various extracurricular activities at KIIT. There are societies, fests, seminars, workshops, etc. which help with our personality development.
KIIT is a very good choice to pursue your studies.
If you are considering Amity University, Noida for Engineering, it is recommended that you do not enroll there. According to students who completed their bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from there, it's a pathetic place to study. They claim that the quality of teaching is very poor, research is nil, and fees are too high. They highly recommend that you join KIIT, Bhubaneswar for a B.Tech, rather than Amity University, Noida.
Based on their experience, they believe that anyone who recommends Amity is either lying or trying to get a commission from you. Therefore, it's advised that you look into other options and do your research before making a decision on where to pursue your engineering degree.
