B.Tech Computer Science, Chandigarh Engineering College (2018)

Yes, CGC Landran is a good choice but there is no other college to compare with.

  • CGC Landran is a college that focuses mainly on the computer science branch rather than the mechanical branch.
  • As a college, in terms of placement and campus life, CGC is a perfect choice.
  • The only disadvantage found in the college is the hostel’s food that does not taste good.

Could anyone please provide me the link from where I can register for CGC (Landran) off-campus placement drives?

AK

B.Tech CSE, CGC Landran (2018)

One of my close friends graduated from CGC Landran and got placed through off-campus placements, here are some tips for you from him.

  1. CGC Landran conducts off-campus drives for many MNCs. There are no particular links or URLs where you can register your profile.
  2. The placement department of CGC creates a new google form and allow candidates to register for jobs and internships
  3. Keep checking on the college website regularly for updates. They update the off-campus placement information and provide links to register for jobs and internships.

So you need to stick to the college website for the latest updates regarding off-campus drives.

You can also visit placement blogs for Freshers Jobs, Off Campus Jobs, Walk-in Jobs, Govt Jobs, and for Interview tips.

How are CGC Landran CSE placements?

SR
Sikhsha Roy Posted On : June 15th, 2021
B.Tech from Chandigarh Engineering College (2018)

I have a few friends at CGC and I heard good things about the institute from them. It is well-known for offering good placements and a decent academic environment.

  • CGC conducts prior pre-placement training, where you will be taught how to handle interviews for the recruiting companies.
  • Companies that approach the institutes, come along with their own personal criteria. Many companies set the required score range of 60%, 70% or even 80%.
  • Major recruiters at the placement drive are Amazon, Wipro, Microsoft, Cognizant, HCL, Deloitte, IBM, Maruti, Hyundai, etc. The highest CTC offered to the students according to the recent placement statistics is 35 LPA.
  • If you are want to secure a placement offer, try to master at least one computer language program. The competition gets intense when the number of students is 250+.

The institute conducts extra classes. These classes are about HR, group discussions, etc. Here, you will be given placement papers targeting certain companies by the teachers. At the weekend, you will be handed over modules and questions that concern that specific company.

Which college will polish my communication skills better, CGC Landran or Thapar?

AS
Aditi Sharma Posted On : June 22nd, 2021
Studied Chandigarh University (2018)

Colleges like CGC Landran and Thapar are the best and most reputed colleges in the country. Although, if comparing between both of them, according to my friends at CGC Landran, they have more opportunities and exposure. You could get and utilize it to improve your communication skills.

  • CGC Landran and the best academics conduct various competitions and events regularly so that a student can build up his/her personality and communication skills.
  • The literary events such as group discussions, debate competitions, guest lecturers, talent hunts, and many other events are held regularly.
  • Thapar University provides the best academics as the faculty in the institute is quite good but they don’t focus on communication skills.

Hence, for improving communication skills and overall personality development, a student should prefer CGC Landran over Thapar University.

Which is better, Manipal Bangalore or CGC Landran?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : March 28th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

If you're considering choosing between Manipal Bangalore and CGC Landran for your studies, there are a few key points to keep in mind about the CGC Landran campus:

  • While the campus at CGC Landran may not be as large as Manipal, it offers a beautiful and peaceful environment with plenty of greenery, trees, and parks. This can be a great place to study and relax between classes.
  • CGC Landran has a strong reputation for placement, particularly for students in the CSE and MBA programs. If you're looking for strong job prospects after graduation, CGC Landran may be a good choice for you.
  • The faculty at CGC Landran are known for being friendly and approachable, but may not have as much experience as those at other institutions like Manipal.
  • CGC Landran offers well-equipped labs for students, although some of the systems may be older.
  • Each year, CGC Landran hosts an annual festival called PARIVARTAN, which is a two-day techno-cultural event. This can be a fun and engaging way to get involved with campus life and meet other students.
  • The campus at CGC Landran is known for being clean and fresh, with plenty of food options available including cafes, subways, and other shops.
  • CGC Landran also offers a variety of clubs and organizations for students to get involved with and explore their interests beyond academics.
  • One potential downside of CGC Landran is its attendance system, which can be strict and require regular monitoring of attendance. Students who fall below a certain attendance percentage may face difficulties with signing applications or other administrative tasks.
  • Finally, it's important to research and compare all of your options before making a decision about where to study. Keep in mind that CGC Landran is part of the Punjab Technical University system, which may offer additional resources and benefits.

In conclusion, if you're considering studying at CGC Landran, be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the campus and do your research before making a decision. Ultimately, the right choice for you will depend on your personal preferences, goals, and priorities.

Does CGC Landran use projectors and slides in a B.Tech in CSE to teach? Do they use smart classes and slides?

HS
Harpreet Saini Posted On : July 6th, 2021
Studied at Chandigarh Group of Colleges Landran, Mohali

My sister recently graduated from CGC Landran and has better information about the teaching techniques employed at the institute. Here is what she had to say.

In the first year of college, the teachers do not use projectors a lot and they just give the students notes for the subjects.

In the second year, the syllabus starts getting tougher and the length of the chapters in subjects also increases as the core subjects get included. It becomes a challenge to complete the syllabus in time. That is the reason why second year onwards teachers mostly give notes and teach from PPT Slides to cover up the syllabus.

Hope this clears your doubt.

Which is better, CGC Landran or PU?

MA
Madhav Aneja Posted On : July 25th, 2023
Lived in Chandigarh, India

The choice between PU and CGC Landran depends more on the branch than anything. However, the degree you will be getting from CGC Landran will be affiliated with Punjab Technical University. Overall, PU ranked 44 by NIRF this year while PRU was ranked 120 in 2021. This huge difference in rankings strongly claims that PU is better than PTU.

PU is a Government University while CGC is a private college affiliated with I.K Gujral University, Jalandhar. CGC is a good choice for those looking for a less expensive college and decent infrastructure. It’s great for engineering but the same cannot be said for other courses.

In my opinion, PU is a fairly better option and the following comparative analysis proves this further.

Particulars

CGC Landran

PU

Number of recruiters

800+

55

Number of Placement offers

8600+

383

Highest CTC

INR 45.5 LPA

INR 45 LPA

Top Recruiters

Accenture, Amazon, Deloitte, Dell, Capgemini, IBM, Genpact, Google, etc

Sapient, Gemini Solutions, Motorola, EXL, Code Brew, Havells, Oceaneering, HP, Infosys, Emerson, Edureka, etc.

PU has a smaller batch size and its highest CTC is also better than CGC. So, it’s PU over CGC!
