Which is better, IIIT Vadodara or IIIT Lucknow?
Both these are well-reputed IIITs under the PPP model. Which institute will be better for you depends on what your expectations are from the degree. Here is some information about IIIT Lucknow.

Technical Student Life:
- It is undoubtedly one of the best among the new 20 IIITs. It also gives tough competition to NITs and IITs.
- In ACM ICPC, the institute was ranked 9th. It also qualified for the Asia Finals.
- The technical club Axios had 3 GSoC selections in their first session. In the 2nd year, it had 2 GSoCers and GSoC mentors.
- The six technical clubs of IIIT Lucknow are also doing great work. This institute is among the few colleges in India to have a Github Campus Expert, Google DSC, and Microsoft Student Partner.
Cultural Life:
- In terms of student life at the institute, IIIT Lucknow has 7 cultural clubs in the fields of Drama, Dance, Music, Literature, Photography, Fine Arts, and NGO.
- Crotonia, Zephyr, Utkrisht are some of the events organized by these clubs.

They have also organized their maiden technical fest, Equinox, in 2020 along with their maiden Model United Nations (MUN) Conference. They are also planning for their maiden cultural fest, Solstice – IIIT Lucknow.
The only problem IIIT Lucknow had till now was its lack of a permanent campus which has been sorted now as well. So in terms of infrastructure too, it is at par with IIIT Vadodara now. So considering all the criteria, it is safe to say that IIIT Lucknow is a better choice at the moment. Now, the final decision is yours.
How is the coding culture at IIIT Lucknow?
The coding culture of IIIT Lucknow is not at all something that one should question. Being mentored by IIIT Allahabad which was also famous for its coding culture, IIIT Lucknow has gone very far. It has not only taken forward the legacy of good coding culture, but it has also worked beyond it since the launch of its pilot batch.
- With the dedicated hard work of students and faculties, the institute has enlisted itself in the top 200 college list of code forces in a minimum time span of 5 years.
- The students of IIIT Lucknow have proved their worth in many other competitions as well apart from competitive coding. They have set the benchmarks really high in various other fields like Web Development, CyberSecurity in Inter IIIT, and of various other institutes as well.
- The culture of coding is so better over here that the students start excavating the new IT technologies from the first year only. Obviously, they get the same environment throughout which helps them.

Should I drop a year more for JEE Mains (3rd attempt) or join some newly established IIIT like IIIT Lucknow?
Well, the final choice totally depends on you, however, dropping one more year is not a wise thing to do. If you have scored a low rank that can’t get you into IITs or NITs, here are some useful tips that will enlighten you in this tough time.
- If your current score is too low to get into the IITs, it is most likely that you will score an extra 20-30 marks next year. Sadly, this also won’t help you get into a top IIT or NIT all of a sudden.
- On the other hand, if you decide to take admission in an institute like IIIT Lucknow, you won’t waste a year and you will learn a lot.

In conclusion, IIIT Lucknow’s progress is many times faster than BIT Mesra. Even the B.Tech course in Computer Science at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Lucknow has the lowest fees than the other two colleges.
In your opinion, which is the best, among IIIT Sri City, Guwahati, Kota, Lucknow and Trichy?
If you are considering IIIT Kolkata, IIIT Sri City and IIIT Trichy are all colleges that have done very well and are also developing quite well. Compared to these, IIIT Guwahati and Lucknow are not quite up to the mark yet.
As for IIIT Sri City, I have a friend studying there and according to him, this college is one of the first among the others to have its own campus.
- It was completed about a year or two ago so if you are looking for admission, definitely go to IIIT Sri City.
- The very first batch from this college had an average package offer of INR 7.5 LPA and is quite good as compared to mid-level NITs.
- The mentorships provided by IIITH also helps a lot and the curriculum here is amazing.
- If you are looking for research, almost every student ends up publishing a research paper in B.Tech. Students are even better to go on to publish around 6 to 7 international papers as well.

If you choose a better college over a branch then you will have an advantage during placements as companies would be aching to visit for hiring new students. Many of my friends have graduated from both IIIT Jabalpur and IIIT Lucknow. According to them, IIIT Jabalpur is much better than IIIT Lucknow. Here’s sharing some of them:
- At IIIT Jabalpur, you will find it is a well-established college. On the other hand, IIIT Lucknow is under development as well as IIIT Lucknow is shifting to its campus this year.
- In terms of placement, nothing can be said about its future and placement at IIIT Lucknow.
- The CS Branch, at IIIT Jabalpur, is good and its placement is sound enough.

Does IIIT Lucknow get good placement because of IIIT Allahabad?
This is true that the only reason IIIT Lucknow has great placements is simply because of IIIT Allahabad. It can be explained with the help of the following points:
- The students of IIIT Lucknow share the same classrooms where they are taught by the same professors that impart the same skills to students of both institutes.
- The competition at IIIT Allahabad is intense and it includes one of the most brilliant brains in the whole of India.
- The companies that visit IIIT Allahabad are the same companies that visit IIIT Lucknow as well to select students as their future employees.
If you are concerned about the fact that it would affect IIIT Lucknow once they shift, the straight answer to this is YES! With this, it is going to get difficult to expect companies to show up.
Which IIIT has a top class faculty, IIIT Guwahati or IIIT Lucknow?
When you compare both these colleges for their faculty, in my view, they both have top notch faculty.
- All the professors and teachers at both these colleges have completed their education with PhDs from very well reputed IITs and NITs. So there isn’t much scope to question their quality.
- A few friends of mine have studied at IIIT Lucknow and as per their experiences, the faculty at the college is very helpful and kind to the students.
- In my opinion, the same should be the case with IIIT Guwahati as it is known to be a premier institute with national importance and it is also being mentored by IIT Guwahati.
For example, IIIT Bhagalpur is also mentored by IIT Guwahati so most students are aware that the faculty and academic environment is good here. As the case with IIIT Lucknow is also similar – where it is being mentored by IIIT Allahabad which is known for its coding culture and is one of the top IIITs across the country, you will not have a reason to doubt the institute.
So, both colleges are equally good as they are being mentored by some of the best institutes in the country and have good faculty.
What should I choose between HBTU, NIT Manipur, IIIT Bhopal all in CSE, or IIIT Lucknow in IT?
HBTU is the best among all the institutes mentioned above. The university is old and reputed. So, it's better if you choose HBTU CSE over the other options. HBTU placements 2021 witnessed an average CTC of INR 6.46 LPA. A total of 69 students were recruited from the CSE branch. HCL, IBM, Adobe are the major recruiters.
