Without any second thoughts, CSE at MNIT Jaipur seems to be a far better option than CSE at NIT Rourkela. Although many rankings claim otherwise, it's a well-known fact that these rankings are forged and shouldn't be the determining factor.
Although individual opinions may vary, I consider CSE at MNIT Jaipur a more appropriate choice than NIT Rourkela.
For HR career aspirants, XLRI is unquestionably the best in Asia; for non-HR candidates, IIMC is by far the better option.
The Benefits of IIMC Over XLRI:
In comparison to XL, the IIM tag is more well-known outside of India.
A larger batch means a greater number of successful alumni worldwide.
It increases the number of marquee recruiters in finance, consulting, marketing, systems, and operations. The alum network is extremely strong in finance and consulting, including leading HR consulting firms.
After living in Jamshedpur for two years, one can appreciate it even more because it is located in one of the metros.
XLRI loses companies despite being a good BSchool because many marquee recruiters do not want to visit Jamshedpur, which is not well-connected.
In comparison to some B-schools, XLRI has a lower percentage of IIT/BITS students in its batch.
The Benefits of XLRI Over IIMC
A smaller batch size promotes better bonding among batchmates.
Gender diversity is astounding.
Because the majority of HR heads in respected companies attended XLRI, their placement can reach almost any company.
Because of the small batch size, even the worst performers (purely from a placement standpoint, not academically) get decent jobs, which is not possible at any of the top IIMs with larger batch sizes.
One of the world's largest private equity funds recruits one summer intern exclusively from XLRI every year in India, which could be a very important criterion if one has that kind of profile.
IIM Calcutta and XLRI share more cultural similarities than IIM C and IIM A or B.
NIT Surathkal has better placements for MTech. According to the recent placement highlights, the highest CTC and average CTC offered were INR 28 LPA and INR 12.25 LPA, respectively. Companies such as L&T Infotech, Standard Chartered Bank, ZS Associates, Capgemini, Tredence Analytics, Exl Service, etc. are the major recruiters that take part in NIT Surathkal placements.
IT from NIT Raipur is the best option among these. The institute offers good placement opportunities for IT and CSE. Each year around 100% of students get placed from the IT department. Reputed IT companies such as Samsung, MuSigma, Oracle Cloud, Cognizant, etc. visit the campus placements. According to the highlights of NIT Raipur placements, IT department has an average CTC of around INR 6.78 LPA.
Thapar University in all aspects is a lot better than JIIT. But I am not quite aware of the EIC branch. You can interact with ex-students of the institute online, to get a better idea about the course. If you think it will be a better choice, go for it.
Categories | EIC at Thapar University | CSE at JIIT Noida |
Course Fee | 13.23 lakh | 9.22 lakh |
Highest CTC | 18 LPA | 12-16 LPA |
Average CTC | 6 LPA | 4-5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | TCS, Tech Mahindra, Phillips, L&T, etc. | Amazon, Adobe, Morgan Stanley, ZS Associates, etc. |
Thapar University will be a much better choice than JIIT, as it is popular among students and professionals as well. Any branch at Thapar will prove to be more valuable than CSE at JIIT Noida.
According to a senior of mine who has graduated from NIT Raipur, the institute is better than most top colleges in Bangalore including VIT institutes.
Despite having a soft spot for NIT Raipur, she does not discourage candidates from trying their luck at any other university, including VITs. She, however, suggests that they should get acquainted for measuring progress after completion of the undergraduate degree.

Placements:
In the case of NIT Raipur, almost every candidate will get at least one job, in recent years many also bagged two jobs. The ones who have, get a package of 4-8 LPA for the first job, and a package of as much as 16-17 LPA for the second job. Candidates who do not get a second job also land a job with a package of 4-8 LPA.
Overall, it is safe to say that CSE from NIT Raipur will be a good option.
Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics is better for pursuing a B.Com (Hons.). It is older and well-reputed. The commerce faculty of the college is excellent. NMIMS is primarily a B-School and offers a good MBA degree. But it started offering undergraduate degrees recently.
Narsee Monjee B.Com fees are almost half of what you will pay at NMIMS. The total course fees amount to INR 92,000.
NM College of Commerce and Economics placements are good. Reputed companies such as Morgan Stanley, EY, KPMG, etc. visit the campus placements. The average CTC received by the students is around INR 7 LPA.
CGC Landran is the better option for CSE. The department has a good faculty base. The professors try their level best to cooperate with students. There are regular CR meetings, to resolve the problems students are facing. The institute organizes TPP lectures, and training sessions from the first year, itself.
CSE has a 100% placement rate. Microsoft, Google, Adobe, TCS, etc. visit CGC Landran campus placements regularly. The average package for the branch is around INR 3-4 LPA.
If you are considering pursuing engineering and wondering which branch to choose, there are some important things you should keep in mind while making a decision. Here are some key points to consider:
If you are still interested in pursuing Civil engineering despite the challenges, then you may want to consider NIT Warangal. According to the author of the original statement, this institution is better than NIT Surathkal. However, keep in mind that this is a subjective opinion and you should do your own research before making a decision.
