Law is a profession that promises a lot of versatility. According to some of my friends who opted for Law, you can pursue a number of avenues if you have a degree in law. Some of them include:

• Judiciary: If you are interested in joining the judicial level then go for IJS. It conducts competitive exams, prelims, finals, interviews and also training. It is very similar to the IAS.
• Teaching: Once you complete your Masters, you will have to crack the NET or the National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the UPSC and start working as an assistant professor in a government college or university. Some private institutes even accept candidates who have not cleared the NET.
• General Counsel: You can also join a company and work as their in-house legal advisor. You will take care of compliance and be in charge of settling disputes faced by the company.
• Law Firm: You can try being a legal associate with a law firm. The compensation you will receive is directly proportional to the reputation of the firm.
• LPO: You can work as an associate of a firm that is involved in outsourcing and caters to high profile clients. This may also include contracts. This can get you international exposure.

Last but not the least; you can try your hand in litigation: This is the most traditional form of law practice. You will have to go to courts, interact with clients, address the jury and judges, etc. This will get you a lot of clout.

Although it is difficult to compare two institutes that have their own reputation in two different countries, we can state the facts. 

• NLSIU allows you to become a lawyer in the span of five years while Harvard Law School (HLS) takes seven years. 
• It is very much possible for an Indian to get into HLS and study efficiently. Nothing can hinder that. 
• But if you are willing to stay in India then NLSIU is the best. 
• The quality of education is not an obstacle in both institutes. 
• However, there is good funding in Ivy League Law School (HLS). 

Choose what works best for you, practising as a lawyer will not be an issue wherever you graduate from. You can work in India after graduating from HLS and the other way round. 

Basically, the greatness of the law school is defined by the academics, faculty, alumni, and infrastructure. As your score is low- it has an upside and a downside as well. It is great that you know where you stand and how much more effort you need to put. If you are determined enough, then even 4 months of preparation can do wonders for you. Here are some things you should know:

• Firstly, try solving your CLAT papers without any time limitations.
• You will realize that except for Maths and GK, most of the questions are logical.
• To keep working faster, start taking mock tests each week, and gradually increase to 2 mock tests each week.
• Always analyze your answers after taking the mock tests.
• While studying, try dividing the subjects and give each subject 2 hours of your day.

The downside gives you a reality check and makes you plan your backup options. It is not really a downside but can work as an eye-opener.

NLSIU is the best college for law in the country. So, there will be tough competition for securing admission. Here are some tips to prepare well in six months. 

• You should be updated with your current affairs and logical reasoning preparation. This is not an overnight job but a regular practice session. It is important to work on your logical reasoning efficiently for cracking your place in NLSIU.
• You also need to be good at English. You can go through the opinion-based editorials as it is very helpful. 

Preparation for NLSIU is doable in six months with strategic planning. But don’t discard your other options, it is essential to apply to other institutions for varied opportunities. Everyone should keep a backup in hand.

You can get into NLSIU Bangalore by taking the CLAT examination. There are no age restrictions, it depends on the level of education and accordingly, you can apply for either a UG or PG program. 

Apart from this, you can choose some distance learning courses like MPP (Masters in Public Policy). It is an interdisciplinary program that provides comprehensive training and various other courses depending on your interests. 

You can also go for Online & Hybrid Programmes as there are various PG Diploma courses available in Human Rights, Medical & Ethics, Environmental Law, and many more.

Your age will not affect your job opportunities after completing the course. But it will be best if you have any prior experience or qualifications added to your profile.

Yes, why not. If you are interested in the subject and studying law is what your passion is then nothing else really matters. 

There are so many people around us who take a drop for a year or two in order to fully prepare for their passion so that there are no setbacks. I know a friend who pursued this career after taking a drop for a year so that she could prepare well. 

When you decide to go for NLSIU, you just have to work on your knowledge and CGPA. Those are the only two aspects that stand in your way towards your dream job. For studying law, you must have an understanding of the nuances of the subject. You also have to put hours of research into the subject.
