What is average package for an EE at NIT Jalandhar, and what is the highest?

SG
Sukrit Gupta Posted On : December 3rd, 2022
Studied at B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (NITJ) (Graduated 2022)

The placement percentage of Electrical Engineers at NIT Jalandhar this year (2022) was 69.23%.

The average Package of EE (2018-2022) Batch (till date) is 11.95 LPA. This package was for the FTE offer for GET(Graduate Engineer Trainee) Role.

The highest Package secured by one of my classmates was INR 9.2 LPA in FuturesFirst (Trading). Some were selected by Deloitte USI offering 6.2 LPA (Consulting) followed by Saint Gobain offering 6 (Shift Engineer+marketing) and many more.

Basically, almost everyone from EE was able to get placed at good firms with good packages. In Fact, some big companies like Samsung, HSBC, Texas Instruments, and Oracle visited for students with software profiles but one of us had actually developed proficiency in it.

If you are really interested in the subject go for it. Don’t worry about placements. For the best placements join the circuital branch ( CSE, ECE, IT, EE, ICE)

Which is better: CSE IN NIT JALANDHAR OR CSE IN THAPAR UNIVERSITY?

AT
Arun Singh Tanwar Posted On : December 5th, 2022
Studied Computer Science Engineering at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar ( NITJ ) (Graduated 2020)

Unlike the general opinion that NIT Jalandhar is better than Thapar University just because of its NIT title, I have a different opinion. I think Thapar University should get the recognition it deserves. Some points in favor of my opinion are:

  • The CSE was renewed by Trinity College, Dublin. The curriculum is way more advanced than that of NIT Jalandhar. The latter has an outdated syllabus which is not relevant to the industry.

  • Many technical societies help inculcate special skills.

  • Placements for CSE are excellent at Thapar University.

  • Coding culture is witnessing a spike over the few years. 1st year students are getting selected for GSOC

  • The research culture at Thapar University is better than that of NIT Jalandhar where no one is interested in writing research papers at all.

  • The infrastructure is also better at NIT Jalandhar.

  • The location of Thapar University makes it easily accessible to restaurants, cinemas and other facilities.

  • There are various coaching institutes in and around Thapar University for GRE/CAT/IAS/GMAT.

All these points clearly prove that Thapar University is better than NIT Jalandhar.

I have an option of choosing NIT Jalandhar or BIT Mesra. Which one would be better?

GP
Gaurav Prakash Posted On : December 5th, 2022
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli

Ranking-wise BIT Mesra is better than NIT Jalandhar. It has some other additional features also:

  • BIT Mesra has Alumni in all the Top Universities around the globe

  • BIT Mesra also has International campuses in Ras al khaimah and Bahrain

  • It has the first rocketry department in India and has helped IITs to set up their rocketry department

  • It also has a Super-Computer called PARAM 10000.

  • BIT Mesra offers placements that are at par with the IITs

  • Top recruiters include Facebook, Google, and Microsoft

  • The grading system at BIT Mesra is absolute and the evaluation process is also very strict. So you will have to focus a lot on your CGPA.

This comparison is general. I think you should make a choice based on your own preferences. Consider factors like closeness to your home, Coaching/guidance for GRE, and alumni network.

The word better is a competitive form. Since you haven’t mentioned better than which college I have done a general comparison. Well yes, NIT Jalandhar is better than:

  • Other private colleges are just money-making machines

  • New NITs

  • Some new IITs as well

Established in 1987, this college has a strong alumni base so it’s better than many new colleges.

Which should I prefer: NIT Jalandhar ECE or NIT Hamirpur ECE?

SS
Saksham Sikri Posted On : December 2nd, 2022

Choosing between NIT Jalandhar and NIT Hamirpur depends more on your own conveniences than anything else. It depends on:

  • Rank

  • State

  • Category

  • Distance between college and home

But still if you already have a choice between these two, go for NIT Harimpur. An additional benefit here is its peaceful and clean environment. Although you will learn better technical skills at NIT Jalandhar still it does not affect much in the long run.

Adarsh Kumar Posted On : December 6th, 2022
IIIT Delhi Computer Science student(2020-24)

I have arranged all the above colleges in the order of their general ranks.

  1. IIEST Shibpur: One of the oldest institutes in the country.

  2. IIT Gwalior: CSE-oriented college and as prestigious as NITs.

  3. NIT Durgapur: A prime REC-to-NIT

  4. NIT Jamshedpur: An old RIT/REC-to-NIT with excellent facilities and infrastructures.

  5. NIT Jalandhar: An old REC-to-NIT

  6. NIT Delhi: It lies in the capital and enjoys better connectivity.

  7. NIT Goa: It is a new college, but lies in the coastal zone and has better connectivity.

  8. NIT Hamirpur: Included in the NIRF rank list, but communication/connectivity is poor as it is located in hilly terrain.

Remember that the order can always be changed based on your own convenience regarding location. The general order is:

Should I choose the NIT Jalandhar textile engineering or the JSS Noida IT branch?

RA
Rishav Arora Posted On : December 7th, 2022
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP) (Expected 2024)

If you are interested in IT Industry then without a second thought go for JAS Noida IT branch. This is because you cannot opt for upgrading your branch from textile to IT in NIT Jalandhar.

But if are interested in any other branch go for textile in NIT Jalandhar.

Taking textile at NIT Jalandhar will give you an additional benefit of rectifying your choice is you find you want to change the branch.

On of my friends told me of a person who ranked 60000 in JEE Mains. He got IPE in spot round, scored a CGPA of 9 and got into CSE. Such miracles require a lot of hard work. Being an NITian won’t hurt you in the long run.

How is the CGPA calculated in NIT Jalandhar in the first year?

DJ
Dhivesh Joshi Posted On : December 5th, 2022
Studied at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar ( NITJ )

In NIT Jalandhar, the marking system out of 100 is:

  • 20 for minor 1

  • 20 for minor 2

  • 50 for major

  • 10 for assignments

The grading system is as follows:

90–100 -> S grade =10

80–89 -> A grade =9

70–79 -> B grade =8

60–69 -> C grade=7

50–59 -> D grade=6

40–49->E grade=5

<40 is a fail no grade.

NIT Jalandhar follows a credit system wherein every subject is allotted a credit. For example

Maths has 4 credits. So if you get a B grade then your score will be 4*8= 32

CGPA Calculation: The sum of scores divided by total no.of credits gives your CGPA.
