How is Pumba College for an MBA?

TA
Tejas Agarwal Posted On : April 18th, 2023
Student at DMS PUMBA

The well-known government institute PUMBA offers MBA courses in many specializations. PUMBA's quality depends on the student's specialization and goals.

PUMBA has an excellent ROI since it gives quality education at a lesser cost. Extracurricular activities assist in creating personality at college. PUMBA is a laid-back school where students can pursue their interests.

PUMBA may not have as bright a student body or as profitable employment as other top B-schools. As a destination for newcomers, PUMBA may not suit established experts. PUMBA may also offer a less rigorous education than India's leading B-schools.

Before enrolling in PUMBA, you should consider your specialization and career goals. PUMBA offers good ROI, a pleasant setting, and quality visiting faculty. If students want top placements and intensive study, they may have to look elsewhere.

Which one is best: a PGDM from Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida, an MMS in finance from NL Dalmia, or an MBA from PUMBA, Pune?

AJ

NL Dalmia has a specific focus on finance, which makes it a good option for candidates looking to specialize in finance. On the other hand, PUMBA offers a more general management education with a focus on practical learning and industry exposure.

BIMTECH, Greater Noida offers a good curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. The institute has a strong industry connection and offers a variety of electives to choose from. However, its ranking is lower than NL Dalmia and PUMBA.

One of my friends is a recent alumnus of the institute and shared better opinions on the same. PUMBA is a great institute for experienced students, with regard to both the learning structure and placements. It however partially also depends on how you explore or take part in the learning procedure of the institute.

The faculty at PUMBA is helpful and is also well experienced. You can be part of learning various new aspects if you are keen to explore them.

Here is a brief placement report of PUMBA in recent years.

How do I get into the colleges specifically JBIMS (Mumbai) and PUMBA (Pune) for MBA?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : April 28th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

JBIMS and PUMBA are one of the top MBA colleges in Maharashtra. The national-level entrance exams accepted at JBIMS for admission are MAHCET, CMAT, CAT, and GMAT.

In addition to this, the college also considers the Common Entrance Test/ CET/ PET/ NET/ SET/ GRF for admission to different courses followed by Group Discussion and Personal Rounds for the final selection of students.

While the Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), Savitribai Phule Pune University offers a number of full-time UG, PG and doctoral-level courses in the field of Management. Known for its flagship two-year full time MBA programme, this department also offers a two-year E-MBA and MBA Pharma Biotech at PG level.

PUMBA MBA admissions for Maharashtra candidates are subject to a valid score in MAH CET exam conducted by DTE Maharashtra. However, for outside Maharashtra candidates, a valid score in CMAT/ CAT/ MAH CET works well.

Which college is better between SIES and PUMBA for marketing? Why?

AM
Anindita Mukherjee Posted On : June 29th, 2021
Studied at Amity University (2019)

Most of the students tend to prefer PUMBA. Also according to some of my friends studying there, it is a really good institute for pursuing MBA. Some things that make it unique from other institutes include -

  • The fee is lower at PUMBA and hence, higher ROI.
  • The average package offered at PUMBA is around INR 7.5 to 8 LPA which is similar to that of SIES.
  • SIES is undoubtedly good for marketing, but PUMBA steals the show because of factors such as university departments and administration.
  • PUMBA is a completely student-driven college. All the events held on the campus are organized and managed by students.
  • Apart from academics, students at PUMBA also get trained in managing public relations, pitching, prospecting, etc.
  • IIM A alumni are faculty at PUMBA for marketing management.
  • SIES does not have its own hostel whereas PUMBA provides hostel facilities. The charges are very low which is Rs.4500 per year.
