If you are looking just for a brand name and high ROI, then your options are

  • IIM Udaipur
  • IIM Trichy
  • IIM Ranchi

If you are looking for legacy, established alumni, and faculty with decades of experience within the same institute, your options are

  • IIFT Delhi campus
  • MDI

Now let me further elaborate on the last 2 colleges.

IIFT: This institute is a good option for people who wish to get into International business. I can any day prefer IIFT over the new IIMs.

MDI: MDI specializes in Marketing so anyone interested in this sector can go for MDI.

So it eventually depends on you and the specialization you want.

Can a BCom fresher with finance specialisation get a good placement at b-schools like IIFT, IIM Trichy, and other new IIMs?

Since you are only concerned about placements, let me tell you that placement depends not on one but many factors. Some work experience, educational background, presence of mind, knowledge, and obviously luck. Based on your profile the pros and cons you will experience are as follows

Pros

  • You are already well-versed with the basics of the program which makes it easier to catch up initially.
  • Some companies, mainly Sales, Marketing, and Finance, prefer freshers over work experience.
  • You might have already figured out your interests because you are familiar with the program.

Cons

  • Some companies, mainly in the operations and consulting sector, prefer people with work experience only.
  • A little diversity won’t hurt

Lastly, since you are a fresher, before you join a B School, gather knowledge through books or certifications.

Which one is best, IIFT or SIBM Pune for CSE branch students? Why so?

MD
Monalisa Dash Posted On : June 19th, 2023

Firstly your undergraduate degree is completely irrelevant to the MBA degree you intend to pursue, as the two are poles apart. So, the choice of college will depend on the specialization you want to pursue in management.

Secondly, both colleges are regarded as excellent Tier 1 colleges in India and generally among the top 20 B-schools in India. Having said that, the only thing that separates them is the course they offer and what you want to choose and pursue.

In addition to having two campuses, IIFT offers a specialized international business degree that is not provided by other top-tier business schools.

In contrast, SIBM Pune offers a legitimate General Management program, just like the other Top B-schools. Below is a table comparing the two colleges in different aspects;

Which is better for an MBA in international business, Delhi School of Economics or IIFT?

JT
Jayant Thakur Posted On : February 27th, 2023
MBA in Marketing & Finance, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi (Graduated 2017)

It's important to research the institution's alum base, the profiles offered during placement, the corporate competitions won by the business school, and the brands that frequently visit for recruitment when you are considering a suitable college for an MBA in international business.

In terms of IIFT, it is considered a niche college for international business. However, it's important to keep in mind that the competition for admission is very tough compared to the Delhi School of Economics. It's important to keep in mind that DSE and IIFT are not in the same league. It's important for you to conduct your research and weigh your options before making a decision.

IIFT

Comparison:

  • For Foreign trade and Int business, IIFT is way better than even IIMs, let alone XLRI and ISB.
  • IIFTs has affiliations with WTO, UNESCAP, WORLD BANK, and other UN and international research organizations.
  • For HR, XLRI is better than the others. It can be called the Mecca of HR studies. XLRI has a global reputation for HR.
  • XRLI is the first B-school that TATA established to direct the early dreams of Indian business management directed at reconstructing India into a compelling economy.
