What is the GPA system in NSIT or DTU?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 23rd, 2023

To convert your CGPA from percentage, and vice versa, use this formula-

CGPA= ( Percentage marks+7.5)/10

(or CGPA= Percentage marks/10)+ 0.75

And conversely,

Percentage= (10*CGPA)-7.5

Accordingly, the grades corresponding to the percentage are as given below-

Grade

% of Marks

6.25

55

6.75

60

7.25

65

7.75

70

8.25

75

This scale is prescribed by AICTE. Both NSUT Delhi and DTU are approved by AICTE.

Is there Management Quota in NSIT DELHI.?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : August 22nd, 2023

NSUT Delhi is a government engineering college and unlike other private engineering colleges, it does not have a management quota at least officially.

Although there are many rumors of unethical means adopted in admission, that is something every college is involved into a certain extent, and wasting your time on that is futile.

The college, however, does have a staff quota, and many candidates misuse that, by pretending to be a direct relation of a staff member.

So be aware of such activities!

What did you learn from campus placements experience at NSIT?

AB
Akash Bhatt Posted On : August 24th, 2023
Studied at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, 2018

Here are some important things I learned from the campus placements at NSUT Delhi-

  1. It’s a harsh reality but luck plays a huge role in placements. Sometimes it will shock you how people with no potential at all get offered great job opportunities.
  2. Confidence and patience are really important during placements.
  3. You need to prepare well to get placed. By sitting for various companies too, you will get a lot of experience and exposure on the do’s and don'ts.
  4. Placement season is the best and worst time of your college life. This is when you get to know the difference between fake and real friends.
  5. Learn to be satisfied with the job that you end up in. It is your grades, caliber, and level of preparation that have brought you here. A comparison with others is of no use.
  6. Sometimes people become rude after getting placed in a top company for a good package. Learn to ignore them and remain calm.
  7. Only you know your hard work, worth and potential. Don’t let others talk you down with rude words.
  8. Some of your close friends may not get a good placement. This is the time when you support them.
  9. Utilize your time after placements. Get productive, don’t be lazy.

These experiences aren’t just limited to the placement season of NSUT Delhi, they are common for all the colleges/ universities.

Which is better NSIT or VIT Vellore?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 22nd, 2023

I will recommend you choose NSUT over VIT any day. Here are some strong points that support my recommendation

  • NSUT has a better crowd quality than VIT. They have cleared one of the toughest engineering exams, JEE, and are also good at coding or Electronics.
  • NSUT  has a few exceptional professors like Dr Harish Parthsarthy, who are experts in their respective fields and also have a passion for teaching.
  • VIT is a private institute and receives more funding for research work. But the research culture at NSUT is also good. It has amazing research facilities like Texas Instruments Centre for Embedded Product Design.
  • NSUT placement scenario is top-notch and has a record of several students getting placed in Google. Some other major recruiters are TI, Adobe, Amazon, Samsung, Google, ARM, Airtel, CISCO, and various others.

So, if you ever have the chance to choose between NSUT and VIT, always choose NSUT without any second thoughts.

If I get selected into NSIT and IIIT-H for computer science, which one should I choose? What are the pros and cons at each of them?

Namrata Das Posted On : August 22nd, 2023

Here are the pros and cons of both NSUT and IIIT Hyderabad

NSUT Pros:

  1. NSUT has a very light academic workload so you can spend time exploring your passions
  2. The crowd here is excellent and will teach you a lot during your time here.
  3. NSUT is located in the capital city and enjoys a lot of benefits. Moreover, it’s located away from the hustle and bustle of the city in
  4. NSUT students get easy access to internships because Delhi has a lot of start-ups.
  5. NSUT hostels are decent and the food served is much better than a lot of other colleges around.

NSUT Cons:

  1. NSUT has Computer Engineering instead of Computer Science & Engineering which comprised subjects related to hardware
  2. The syllabus is outdated and no new developments in the field are covered. Moreover, core CS subjects are taught only after the 5th sem
  3. NSUT has a very pathetic research scenario and only a few professors are involved in good research work.
  4. NSUT infrastructure and facilities are in a very bad state. There isn't a Wi-Fi facility on campus and no internet in hostels.

IIIT Hyderabad Pros:

  1. IIIT Hyderabad has the best CS curriculum in India. You will be mostly studying core CS courses.
  2. IIIT Hyderabad has a rich coding culture and has produced a large number of coders. Some of them have even been featured at the top in online programming judges and competitions
  3. IIIT Hyderabad has an active research culture and students are required to do research as a part of their course.
  4. The placement scenario of IIIT Hyderabad is amazing and the best companies come for recruitment.

IIIT Hyderabad Cons:  Its curriculum is pretty challenging and very much CS-tailored making it difficult for students to explore their non-CS interests.

I will suggest you go for IIIT Hyderabad as it has better opportunities and an academic environment.

Why is NSUT/NSIT Delhi the best engineering college in India?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 22nd, 2023

Indeed NSIT Delhi was the best engineering college in India but ever since it changed to NSUT, it has lost its charm and can no more be called the best engineering college.

  1. NSIT had a very limited intake whereas NSUT has a huge intake thereby diluting the available resources and opportunities.
  2. NSIT had an attendance criteria of only 50% but NSUT's attendance criteria is 75%.
  3. NSIT awards credits for fun subjects like Yoga, music, etc. but NSUT has no such rule.
  4. The intake take has increased but the infrastructure is the same. This has resulted in an overcrowded campus and unavailability of resources.
  5. NSIT Delhi students were awarded a DU degree that enjoyed global recognition. It was easier to get placed or pursue higher education abroad. NSUT Degree does not hold much value as its new and unknown to many.

However, NSUT has its own pros that people haven't been able to recognize as of yet. The infrastructure and hostel facilities have been improved and the TnP cell works harder than usual to ensure every student is placed. The college has not become autonomous so the administration is operated better. The introduction of new and diverse courses has started attracting a more diverse crowd thereby enhancing the overall learning experience.

All these combined have made both NSIT and NSUT a decent engineering college!

How is NSIT Delhi compared to NIT Surathkal?

SR
Sharmishtha Dutta Ray Posted On : July 17th, 2021
National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (2019)

Since you have not mentioned any particular branch, I assume that you are getting to choose from all the branches at both institutions. Both the colleges have their own pros and cons.

Being a student of NIT Surathkal, my brother has often talked about its greatness.

Campus:

  • NIT Surathkal has a big campus spread across 300 acres of land. There is a private beach, gym, swimming pool, and everything that you need for recreation.
  • There is a high-speed WiFi facility as well.
  • There are separate departments for all the major and minor subjects.
  • The campus of NSIT Delhi is not as big as the campus of NIT Surathkal and is spread across 150-200 acres of land. It has a lush green campus which is aesthetic along with wide roads.

Academics:

  • NIT Surathkal is strict when it comes to academics. Along with your GPA, your projects will also be given equal importance.
  • In both colleges, you can freely do your project in any domain.

Faculty:

  • NIT Surathkal has permanent HODs, associate professors, and professors. The faculties are well experienced.
  • Do not forget that more than professors, your hard work matters most.

Coding Culture:

  • The coding culture is at par in both institutions.
  • There have been participants at GSOC and other competitions. NIT Surathkal has nearby malls, pools, games, etc. for leisure.

Location:

  • NSIT clearly wins at this as it is situated in Delhi. It has easy access to everything.
  • However, NIT Surathkal has a beach too for relaxation.

Overall both the colleges are equally good. But NIT Surathkal has a clear edge over NSIT in various aspects.

Which one should I choose: NSIT, DTU, RVCE, COEP, IIIT-D or BMS?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 22nd, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

Among the aforementioned institutes, NSUT, DTU, and IIIT Delhi are tier-1 Engineering colleges while COEP, RVCE, and BMS are Tier-2 colleges. Here is a general comparison between the two groups of people institutes

First Group

  • The first group comprises the best technical colleges in India. These colleges are excellent choices for COE, IT, and ECE.
  • These colleges have a good reputation and have strong alumni backing them.
  • If you are getting COE, IT, or ECE in these colleges don’t even think of joining the colleges in the second group.

Second group

  • The colleges in this group can be given preference if you fail to make it to the colleges in the first group.
  • If you are getting branches like CS, IT, and ECE, choose the colleges in the following order COEP >> RVCE > BMS
  • COEP is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India and was ranked 101 out of 200 in India in 2022 by NIRF. It has an excellent placement record and might even become a tier-1 college in the future.
  • RVCE and BMS are decent colleges and can be placed above colleges such as Manipal and SRM.
  • Another great option is IIIT Bangalore, the third-best IIIT, which is well-known for its CSE course

Hope the comparison was clear and will help you in making your decision.

How is DTU for outside Delhi students, and is there any north-south feeling at a prestigious university like DTU or NSUT? I hope there won't be any such feeling.

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : July 6th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

DTU is a great college not only for Delhiites but students of North India as a whole. DTU has a diverse student crowd and welcomes students from all states, NRI students, and students from all over Asia and Africa. It’s hard to get any North-South feeling here especially when there is such great harmony between juniors and seniors. The professors also try their best to give individual attention to each student and are quite approachable. There is no such language barrier also as most professors are bilingual and try to deliver lectures in both Hindi and English.

DTU is a place where you will make friends irrespective of their cultural backgrounds. It’s the common interest and passions that bring the huge crown together.

If anything, I feel Outside Delhi students have the advantage of becoming a hosteller which in itself is a unique experience. They will be missing out on all the fun such as visiting the sports complex late at night, roaming around the campus late at night, and fully participating in organizing the fest.
