Both IITs and NITs are institutes of national importance. But if you ever get the option between NITs and IITs always refer to the following preference order
The first preference should be the top 7 IITs then some second-generation IITs and then top NITs and lastly the newly established IITs. However, the order may be slightly different if you are looking for CSE. In that case, IIIT Hyderabad is a great choice and ranks above NIT Trichy.
Always give preference to your branch if you have a specific inclination.
One of my close friends is an alumnus of NT Trichy. He was able to provide some insights regarding the recruiting companies at NIT Trichy.
According to him, the major recruiting companies that visit the IITs for placement drives also come to NIT Trichy for placements. That’s because NIT Trichy is one of the top ten colleges in India. Most of the companies that travel to India definitely come to NIT Trichy. So, there are definitely analytics companies visiting the campus placements of NIT Trichy.
As per the details I have received from the alumni and students of the institute, the placement scenario for VLSI at NIT Trichy is considered to be much better than almost any other NIT in the country. Popular companies which have visited the campus of NIT Trichy for the recruitment of students enrolled in the VLSI department are SanDisk, Intel, Samsung, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.
The overall placement report for all the courses offered by NIT Trichy for the year 2020 can be availed through the table mentioned below:

Companies Participated | 220 |
Percentage of UG Students Placed | 92% |

Some of the top recruiters which recruited students in 2020 include Volvo, HCL, HDFC Bank, Godrej, HP, Ford and Yahoo.
I do not have much information regarding the communication course at NIT Trichy but I am sure that after some research online, you would surely find out all the information that you are looking for. I hope that this answer must have provided you with a rough idea about the placement for the VLSI course at NIT Trichy.
One of my friends graduated from NIT Trichy and here’s what I got to know from him. According to him, only clearing the CPC test allows you to attend the campus placements.
Generally, 7 to 9 out of 10 students clear the test. But if one fails, he/she might lose the chance of attending the first 2 to 4 companies coming for placements. However, he/she may be allowed for the rest of the placements.
The test contains questions on both technical and non-technical topics and is generally easy. So make sure to prepare yourself and practice quantum and reasoning, as the students get stuck in this portion, majorly. There will be mock interviews and GD sessions, do take part in all these as these will brush up your skills.
The enrolled candidates are eligible to apply for summer internships in various fields at NIT Trichy, Calicut and Warangal. My cousin was selected for a summer internship last year.
The faculty members at these institutions always are on the lookout to collaborate with the students for research activities and this is why the applications for internships are always appreciated. You can contact the concerned authority at your institution for more details or you can visit the official website of your college.
NIT Trichy is probably more known to the general public across India. It has better faculty, research opportunities and infrastructure compared to DTU. On the other hand, DTU has a locational advantage, and it offers better exposure to its students.
Both the colleges have a great coding culture and good placements. Both are excellent institutes with a lot of prestige. You must choose between them on the basis of branch and other personal preferences.

CSE at top NITs is a far better option. Among the NITS, I would suggest you choose NIT Trichy. The CSE department of NIT Trichy is better than other NITs. The department is old and the curriculum is at par with the top IITs. The faculty is experienced and will guide you throughout the four years of your college. You will get hands-on learning because of the multiple practical projects that are given to the students. The campus of NIT Trichy is just as amazing. You will have hostel facilities as well. Each year the top companies visit our college to recruit the students. The CSE department is one of the departments that get the highest packages. Last year the average package in the CSE departments was 27.27 LPA.
The reason why NITs unlike other institutions are having more placements in comparison to IIT’s is due to their quality of students has increased in the market.
One of my friends suggested that computer science students get much better placements in comparison to other branches. The average package is INR 6lacs per annum and the highest package to date is 90 lacs per annum.
One of my juniors is a recent sophomore at the institute and can update you more thoroughly than usual. Here are some things he mentioned,
This is an overall justification of his experience as a whole. There is more to fill the space, yet just only needs exploration. Hope this helps answer your questions.
