My friend recently joined DMS, IIT Delhi to pursue MBA despite getting calls from almost all the new IIMs. She based her decision on the following factors
ROI: I think this is an underestimated factor people don’t stress enough. When you are comparing colleges on the same wavelength, it’s the ROI that can make the difference prominent. Apparently DMS, IIT Delhi enjoys an ROI of 180%.
Placements: DMS has great placement opportunities. The stats below prove it

The placements for the Operations and Supply Chain accounted for 17.3%. The highest number of students had work experience in the Information Technology industry followed by the Supply Chain & Operations industry.
Ranking: DMS, IIT Delhi is ranked 5 in the NIRF ranking and also ranks higher than all new IIMs in
most of the CAT coaching institute rankings. It has a rich research culture giving it the 3 positions in the QS world rankings.
Batch size: DMS has an average batch size thereby increasing the scope of interaction. It also enjoys location advantages, not making it difficult for big industries to visit the campus for recruitment.
IIM Ranchi offers an IPM Program based on SAT / IPMAT Scores. The Expected Cutoff for IPM via SAT is 930.
Apart from this, we don’t have many criteria to base this admission on. So the benefit of the doubt goes to applicants having SAT scores soaring at about 1100–1600. The admission criteria for other programs are more flexible as it is based on parameters such as 10,12, UG scorecards. So it’s highly unlikely that even high marks will get you into IIM Ranchi.
Compared to the older IIMs it is not very good but compared to the newer IIMs it is way better. Its USP is its location in an Industrially rich belt that increases your chances of having an excellent career in Management.
Now if we compare it to the other B Schools, it ranks lower than FMS, XLRI, SP Jain, MDI and JBIMS but higher than IMT, IMI, Fore, XU, GIM, etc. It is better than these B Schools because of the IIM brand.
This program is best for people who want to enter the field of teaching and academics.
To answer your question in better terms I will rate the colleges based on parameters such as placements, curriculum, and alumni base.
IIM Ranchi Admission Process consists of 2 Stages. In the 1st Stage, Candidates are shortlisted for a Personal Interview based on their CAT Scores only. No, I certainly will not suggest that you go for MU Sigma as an apprentice leader trainee. There are many better options like joining a structured, organized company with a decent work ambiance. These aspects are missing in MU Sigma which has a weird business model. The business model is based on the concept ‘Throw them in water, they will learn to swim”. That is if they are made to face hardships they will end up learning the skill to survive. In reality, this has caused relentless suffering to the professionals, the managers, and most importantly the clients. Everybody is clueless and no proper targets are allotted. So I am completely against you joining MU Sigma.
IIM Ranchi has Sectional as well as Overall cutoff. The cutoff for 1st Stage of Shortlisting is decided by the Candidate’s Valid Scores in the CAT Examination. While for the Final Selection, CAT Percentile, Performance in Personal Interviews followed by Academic & Gender Diversity is considered.
There is a huge weightage on work experience. This is because I have seen instances where freshers were rejected despite a 99 percentile while people with experience of 2-3 years were selected despite 90-93 percentile.
IIM Trichy, Ranchi, Raipur, Udaipur, Kashipur, and Rohtak are way ahead of SIOM and SIBM-B. The average package at these new IIMs is greater than INR 11 LPA whereas the lowest packages at these institutes are around INR 6.5-7.5 LPA. You will be astonished to know that the lowest package at these IIMs is almost equal to the average package at SIOM and SIBM-B.
Moreover, IIMs is in itself a brand and therefore promises better growth. This is the reason that these new IIMs despite their early establishment are at par with SIBM-Pune and SCMHRD.
Let’s discuss some major factors that make IIM Ranchi’s PGDM program a good one.
Hostel: IIM Ranchi has its hostel located in a very serene area. It provides single occupancy rooms to all its students with facilities like a geyser, laundry, library, and cafeteria.
Placements: The placement opportunities at IIM Ranchi are incredibly good. It boasts of 100% placement percentage. I will let the statistics do the talking
