The choice must be done purely based on your interest. If you are not that interested in coding and if you take a lot of time to understand the core language, there is no point in opting CS even if it's in high demand. Once you enjoy what you are learning you will succeed in your job position. Otherwise, there is no point in being hung up in a course which you don't enjoy and for four years or even for the rest of your life.

If you don't have a specific preference and you are okay with either CS or civil, then clearly assess college reputation, placement stats, and other opportunities in the respective fields which are briefed out below.
As a branch CSE is on top when compared to Civil. But when you compare PEC and UIET, PEC has an upper hand. Set your priorities straight and opt for the best college for you.
Since my sister studied at RVCE, I can give you information about it.
Placement:
Academics:
Exam Pattern: You will definitely score more than or equal to 90% if you solve 3-4 previous years semester endpapers.
Not commenting anything on lower IIITs since I don’t have much knowledge about it. But, if given a chance to join any RVCE or any lower IIIT like Kota or Vadodara, I would always go for RVCE.
The CSE department of Acharya Institute of Technology is quite good, considering the overall educational facilities, hostels, and environment. A friend of mine attended the institute. Here is his review regarding the facilities provided by the institute.
Hope this gives you a brief insight to the institute.
Chandigarh University offers a specialized program, i.e. BE CSE Big Data & Analytics under the Apex Institute of Technology. It is a renewed institute and an integral part of CU. During the internship period, it offers exceptionally trained human resources in contemporary areas of management and technology to provide a good learning environment.
CU offers different career opportunities and tracks under the internship program. These are as follows.
One of my close friends did the internship program and vouchers for it.
It is suggested that you choose the institute that is in close proximity to your location, since both the institutes are rather tier-3 Indian Engineering Colleges.
In any case, nobody can apparently have access to the actual placement report of either institute because most of them generally spike their records for unjust purposes. Yet, here is a detailed placement statistics, as is claimed by the institutes in general.
Categories | Goa Engineering College | NIT, Goa |
Highest Salary package | INR. 12 LPA | INR. 15.9 LPA |
Average Salary Package | INR. 4 LPA | INR. 7.35 LPA |
Top Recruiting Companies | Siemens, Crompton, TCS, Accenture, Spark+, Impact Analytics | Samsung R&D, HFCL, Saankhya labs, Unisys, ZS Associates, Impact Analytics |
Indian students generally should enroll at colleges near to their residence. And later start to impel the administration to offer basic amenities, if any missing, thereby gradually incrementing the possibility of them obtaining industry relevant skills. Your placements and overall college life has to provide you with the necessary facilities, only then you can grow as an individual.
You can get CSE at Thapar University if you are a resident of Panjab. The institute has a 50% seat reservation for the Panajb quota. For out-of-state students, Thapar University cutoff for CSE usually stays above 180. But, you can try for other branches.
Thapar offers a branch change option. If you maintain a good academic record in the first year, you can apply to change your branch.
As these are two distinct branches of engineering, you should pursue a topic that piques your interest.
Categories | CS at Thapar Patiala | Electrical at PEC Chandigarh |
Course Fee | 13.23 lakh | 6.39 lakh |
Highest CTC | 20 LPA | 8-10 LPA |
Average CTC | 11 LPA | 6 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Wipro, Infosys, TCS, IBM, etc. | Phillips, L&T, JP Morgan, TCS, etc. |
It all depends on what you're interested in. If you are interested in CS, then choose Thapar (if fees are not an issue) or electrical in PEC Chandigarh.
It doesn’t matter in which branch of engineering you are in, every branch has some theory sessions and practical sessions. It is important to take the help of technology to implement theoretical concepts practically.
You can definitely carry a laptop in the class but you might not be allowed to use it during lectures. You need to take prior permission from the faculty if you want to operate it for programming or learning a lesson. If anyone denies you to do so, you can directly contact the HOD. Other than that, you can use it during lunchtime for practice sessions.
LNCT has well-established labs for each branch and they are updated with the latest software. You can utilize the laboratories easily if you don’t have a laptop.
There are two colleges that fall under Saveetha University- Saveetha School of Engineering (Deemed institute) and Saveetha Engineering College (affiliated with Anna University). In Saveetha Engineering College, admission is done through Anna University counseling.
Considering you are from Telangana, the points below give a brief overview of Saveetha School of Engineering (SSE) and its key highlights.
Therefore, CSE at Saveetha University is a good option for students, marked with exciting college life.
A few of my friends graduated from both IET DAVV and JEC. They say that the choice mostly varies according to your interests and the plans you have for your future.
Categories | ET in IET DAVV | CSE in JEC |
Course Fee | 2.74 lakh | 22,300 (1st year) |
Highest CTC | 20 LPA | 7-9 LPA |
Average CTC | 6 LPA | 3.5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | TCS, Phillips, Tech Mahindra, Mu Sigma, etc. | Wipro, Persistence, Capgemini, Infosys, etc. |
Finally, IET is a better college compared to JEC but the ET course at IET is mediocre while the CS branch has a great scope. However, the final decision is up to you. Choose wisely.
