NIT Raipur isn’t a good option for an MTech in VLSI. It is a new branch and only a few branches have been through placements. According to NIT Raipur placement highlights, the placement rate isn’t that good for M.Tech VLSI. The majority of the students get non-core placements. Only around 4-5 students get core jobs.

It is a good option, in terms of research. Students of MTech VLSI have good research publications. The department also has decent facilities and technology to carry out research work.

MTech at NIT Raipur in VLSI is not recommended. However, if you belong to a Tier-3 college and do not land in any college above it, then NIT Raipur can be seen as a good choice for you.

  • There has been only one batch of MTech at NIT. The placements for it took place in the year 2018-19 and no concrete placement statistics could be given back then. But presently, the statistics conclude that the placements were not satisfactory.
  • Apart from this, the placement percentage is not impressive as well. Approximately 4 to 5 students got placed in CommScope (core) and the rest of them got placed in non-core companies.
  • If we talk about research in VLSI, it can be concluded that students and scholars in the VLSI lab possess really good publications. The research output for the same is expected to increase as well in the coming years.
  • The faculty of the department is very helpful. They are always accessible and ready to help the students in any domain they are interested in VLSI.
  • The department possesses very good facilities and software when it comes to VLSI CAD tools (including the ones such as Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics, Athena, Silvaco).

Therefore, it is considered to be a great and unique opportunity for those who are enthusiastic and are deeply interested in the VLSI domain.
