Which is the best option, Mathematics and Computing at IIT Guwahati, CSE at IIIT Hyderabad, or CSE at BITS Pilani?
- According to me, BITS Pilani is the best option for those who want to pursue CSE. The curriculum has been designed in a way that will help the students to get thorough knowledge of the domain. The curriculum has an equal focus on theoretical and practical subjects.
- However, you need to be prepared to learn many courses per semester. You will be truly busy during the four years of this course with too many assignments, lab tests, quizzes, etc.
- You will need adequate practice and hard work to ace the tests. However, at BITS Pilani we believe in smart work instead of hard work.
- The total fee for this 4-year CSE course is around INR 22 lakhs including the hostel fees. The median salary for 2023 stood at INR 18.20 LPA. The top recruiters include Adobe, Accenture, Apple, Cipla, Bajaj Finserv, Cognizant and many more.

CSE from IIIT Hyderabad is the best course in India for a career in software. There is no option of branch change at IIIT H, so they teach a curriculum completely dedicated to software studies from the very first year. The coding culture of IIIT Hyderabad is top class. The environment is serious and academics oriented.
BITS Pilani has top notch facilities, top class academics, a great coding culture and an enjoyable campus life. But the fees are huge, and the weather in Pilani is quite hot.
MnC at IIT Guwahati is fully concerned with software orientation. Unlike CS, it does not deal with hardware limitations. The Maths part is important for neural networks and AI, the finance part provides a base to MBA aspirants and is helpful for landing a job at an investment bank. The weather of Guwahati is pleasant, and the campus life of this college is good. But its coding culture is comparatively weak. The professors at IITs (unlike at BITS) take out their personal grudges by giving poor CPI to students. So the students must remain in their good books.
Though all the three options are good, I would suggest you opt for IIIT Hyderabad CSE. It is the best option for this field.

CSE at IIIT Hyderabad is so far the best possible program one can aspire for in India in the software industry. It’s better than IIT-B CSE and hence, far better than BITS Pilani or IITG CSE.
IIIT Hyderabad
- IIIT Hyderabad has initiated a dedicated software inclined course structure right from the first year. It is a course highly inclined towards academics.
- The institute completely focuses on preparing software experts called CODERS.
- It has highly active coding clubs, excellent coding culture, and the highest average package among the above-mentioned colleges.
- However, it lacks a lot in the overall development due to the poor campus life. You have to leave your campus life behind if you are willing to be extremely academic.
BITS Pilani
- It has a great course structure along with great campus life. You will be very happy with the coding culture over there.
- The institute enjoys years of alumni outreach.
- 0% attendance can sometimes put forward a very lenient attitude of your and might even affect the coming phases of your life.
IITG MnC
- This branch offers a BTech degree and has a course with 45-50% Maths, 45% CS and some finance courses.
- The campus life in IITG is definitely amazing and the weather is pleasant. However, the coding culture is lacking as compared to the other two.
- The location and young alumni network is a major factor you should consider.
Considering all pointers mentioned above, it is clear that CSE at IIIT Hyderabad will be a best suited option for you.
