How is NIT Jamshedpur?
I am an alumnus of NIT Jamshedpur. Based on my experiences, here are a few pros and cons of joining this institution-
NIT Jamshedpur has a very good environment. Its faculty, curriculum and placements are good as well. Tata steel and Tata Cummins are located near the college campus. This enhances training and industrial exposure opportunities for the students. The college hostels are newly built, and filled with good facilities.
However, the infrastructure and campus maintenance need to improve. Also, workshops aren’t regularly conducted for some of the branches.
Overall, NIT Jamshedpur is a good college, and you can definitely consider it for your engineering studies.

NIT Jamshedpur offers good academics, attractive placements, and internship opportunities. Infrastructure-wise, the campus has developed a lot over the last few years. The campus has functioning mega mess, hostels, and new academic buildings.

I have few friends who have just completed their B.Tech in 2020. According to their first-hand experience, it has been an exhilarating journey. Here are some insights to give you a gist of what to expect once you get there.
- Hostel Life: You will get to see one of the best hostels in India for government institutes. You will get a single occupancy room with a balcony and unlimited internet access through LAN. Mess food is also tasty and serves food 4 times a day.
- Infrastructure: Earlier there was an old academic building with basic facilities. Luckily, the new academic building is now functional that has all modern amenities like centralized AC classrooms, computer centers, etc.
- Library: You can choose over thousands of books from the 3 floored library which is spread across an area of 32,000 square feet.
- Study load: The study load is average with 2 days holiday a week.
- Sports facility: You get 2 Cricket ground, 1 Football ground, 1 Hockey ground, Athletics ground, 4 Basketball court, 5–6 Badminton court, 1 Volleyball court, 3 Tennis court.
- Fests: There are fests like OJASS, URJA, CULFEST, which are among the biggest in eastern India with attractive prize money.
Placement:
You can grab attractive packages during the campus placements. Big companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, BPCL recruit in large numbers with packages in 7 digits. The placement rate is up to 90% with packages ranging up to 30 LPA. A few of the major recruiters at the institute are Amazon, Qualcomm, Microsoft, One Plus, BPCL, etc.
Overall, you should feel lucky if you secure yourself a seat at NIT Jamshedpur. Along with all the qualities listed above, you will be getting a tag of NIT.
