NIT Jamshedpur Courses Admission 2024: Eligibility Criteria, Selection Criteria

NIT offers a 4 year (8 semesters) B.Tech program in seven specializations in full time mode only. The institute charges INR 1,16,000 per year for its B.Tech program. The basic eligibility and selection process are mentioned below. 

NIT Jamshedpur B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

• A candidate must have passed his 10+2 with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. 
• The candidate must have studied PCM from any recognized board of education. 

NIT Jamshedpur B.Tech Selection Criteria

• The selection of candidates for the B.Tech programme is based on their JEE Main score.
• The seat allotment is based on the JoSAA counseling process.

NIT Jamshedpur B.Tech. 2023 (Expected)

NIT Jamshedpur JEE Main cutoff is the minimum rank to get admitted to the B.Tech program. The cutoff will be released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). How to Apply for JEE Main? 

Candidates who are eligible for admission have to take the JEE Main. The application process is given below:

• Visit the official website of JEE- Main
• Register for the online application form
• Make a note of the system-generated application number
• Create a password
• Log in again and fill out the form
• Upload scanned images of photographs and signature
• A fee of INR 650 (INR 325 for reserved categories) will be charged/ It is to be paid through Debit card, Credit card, Net banking, UPI or Paytm.
• Keep a printout of the application form for future use.

For Counseling

Candidates who have a valid JEE Main score have to go for JoSAA counselling. Follow these steps to register:

• Click on the registration page at the official JoSAA website.
• Use the JEE Main application number to log in.
• Ensure that your candidate profile is accurate. 
• Click on ‘Submit changes’.
• Fill out your preferred colleges and specializations according to the list of available options.
• Lock the selected choices by clicking on ‘I agree to lock my choices’.
• Keep a printout of the page for future reference.

NIT offers a 2 years (4 semesters) M.Tech program in 16 specializations under five departments. The institute offers this M.Tech program in full time mode only and the fee charged per year is INR 88,500. The basic eligibility and selection criteria are mentioned below. 

NIT Jamshedpur M.Tech Eligibility Criteria 

• A candidate must hold a B.E./B.Tech degree minimum of 4 years duration.
• Candidates must have passed their graduation with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. 

NIT Jamshedpur M.Tech Selection Criteria

• The selection of candidates for the M.Tech programme is based on their GATE score.
• The seat allotment is based on the CCMT counseling process.

How to apply for GATE?

Those who are eligible for admission have to take the GATE. The registration process for it is given below:

• Visit the official website
• Register through the link by entering the candidate’s name, email ID and mobile number.
• After the form is submitted, an enrollment ID will be sent to the candidate’s mobile number.
• Fill out the application form.
• A fee of INR 1,500 (INR 750 for women and reserved categories) will be charged. It is to be paid online.
• Download the form and keep a printout for future reference.

CCMT Counselling:

Candidates who take the GATE will have to go for CCMT counselling. To apply, follow the given steps:

• Register at the official website.
• Fill out the application form.
• Pay the registration fee of 2,200 INR (1,700 INR for reserved categories).
• Click on “I agree”.
• Start entering your choices. When it is done, lock the choices.
• Submit the application and keep a printout.

NIT Jamshedpur GATE Cutoff (Released)

The institute offers a 2 years, full time M.Sc. programme under three specializations including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics & Computing. NIT Jamshedpur charges a fee of INR 61,500 per year. The basic eligibility and selection criteria is mentioned below. 

NIT Jamshedpur M.Sc Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have passed a B.Sc. degree in relevant discipline.
• Candidates must have secured at least 55% of marks in their graduation. 

NIT Jamshedpur M.Sc Selection Criteria

• The initial selection to the M.Sc program is made on the basis of marks scored in IIT JAM.
• A candidate is offered the admission seat after the successful completion of CCMN counselling round.

How to apply to IIT JAM?

The candidates who are eligible for studying M.Sc have to take the IIT JAM. Follow these steps to register:

• Visit the official website
• Register through the link by entering the candidate’s name, email address and mobile phone number. Create a password.
• After submitting the registration form, an enrolment ID would be sent to the mobile number.
• Fill out the form. Include the details of the JAM papers and choice of JAM examination cities.
• Pay the application fee online and keep a printout for future reference.
• You can download the admit card from this portal later.

For counseling:

• Visit the website of CCMN and click on “New Registration”.
• Enter the JAM score details.
• Enter the personal details carefully.
• Click on “proceed’ to preview the filled out form.
• Create a password and click on “Submit”. An OTP will be sent to your number.
• Enter the OTP. A Permanent Identifier (PID) will be created. Once this happens, no more registration will be allowed. Use this to log on to the Candidate’s Corner from the next time onwards.

The institute offers a 2 years MCA program in one specialization only. course. The duration of the program is 2 years. The program is available in full time mode and the institute charges INR 88,500 for its MCA program. However, the basic eligibility and selection criteria for the program are mentioned below. 

NIT Jamshedpur MCA Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate should have a graduate degree, preferably BCA with 60% marks.
• Also, a candidate must have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects.

NIT Jamshedpur MCA Selection Criteria

• For selection, the candidate should have appeared for the NIMCET exam.

How to apply for NIMCET?

Candidates eligible for MCA will have to take the NIMCET for selection. The process for registering is given below:

• Candidates have to register on the NIMCET website by creating the login, password as instructed therein.
• Fill all the details on the online form.
• The last date for submitting the form is March 31.
• Candidates will have to pay a fee of 2,500 INR online.
• All the relevant documents should be uploaded along with the online application form.
• Remember the login name, email ID, password and security question till the end of the NIMCET process.

P for Ph.D. are going to begin in July/August. NIT Jamshedpur offers Ph.D. programme in two categories i.e. Institute Research Scholar (stipendiary) and Sponsored Scholars (non-stipendiary) across various streams. 

NIT Jamshedpur Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates having a M.E./M.Tech degree in the relevant discipline with minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in their master's degree are eligible to apply.
• Candidates having bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology with a minimum of 80% marks or 8.5 CGPA in the relevant discipline are eligible to apply. 

NIT Jamshedpur Ph.D Selection Criteria

• Selection to Ph.D. programs are done on the basis of a written test (UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE) followed by counseling and interview rounds.
