There are many job opportunities available for the students of NISER. Since NISER is an institute under the Department of Atomic Science (DAS), you can get a job at Bhaba Atomic Research Center (BARC), provided you have a decent academic record. If you have a CGPA of around 7.5, you can directly sit for the interview. Although most students completing 5 years of integrated MSc choose to go for a Ph.D. instead of a job.
For pure science, IISc is the obvious choice among these. It is the best in India, in terms of research interface, faculties, and alumni base.
If you are particularly interested in Physics, you should definitely choose IISc. It has an excellent Physics department. IISc Bangalore, Department of Physics has a Theoretical Cosmology group. The research interest of the group mostly involves early universe cosmology topics. For pure science courses, the preference order for these institutes is - IISc>>IISER>NISER.
No matter where you ask or look, no one’s going to tell you which is better, IISER or NISER because both are equally good for undergraduate studies.
To ensure learning directly about your field of interest and look for the professors working in it, the best way is to look into the research being done at the IISER and NISER. Additionally, talking to the alumni and going through the course structure will result in a more informed decision.
You will not have any students or professors with this IIT-NIT difference mindset because deep down they are well aware that the institutes have the same goals, infrastructure, and opportunities.
Also, I find it quite lame when people compare IISER and NISER claiming the former is at par with IITs while the latter is at the level of NITs just because of the first letter they share.
NISER Bhubaneswar has a nice campus. You will get free wi-fi in the hostels. The hostel rooms also have independent LAN ports, so connectivity will not be a problem. The institute offers separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls.

For basic sciences, it’s difficult to choose between NISER Bhubaneswar and UM-DAE CBS. Both institutes have their advantages.
NISER has great faculty, laboratories, coursework. The campus of the institute is well-equipped and is spread over 3000 acres.
UM-DAE CBS has most of the visiting faculties from TIFR, Mumbai. Also, as it is located at the heart of Mumbai you will have better exposure. You can do your project from places like TIFR, BARC, IIT Bombay, etc.
The debate regarding which is better NISER vs IISER is a never-ending one. It’s difficult to say which one is better with absolute certainty. Since there are many differentiating factors. You should choose your institute based on the field that you are interested in. Also, field doesn’t mean fundamental sciences like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, etc. All three of these basic sciences cover vast areas and there are many sub-fields. So, go through the sub-fields and figure out what interests you more check which institute offers better facilities and faculty base for that. That’s how you can choose the institute that will be better for you.
Here are some pointers on NISER vs IISER.
NISER Bhubaneswar is best-known for research-oriented education. If you are interested in pursuing research then choosing the institute will be a good option. The faculties and facilities available at the institute are brilliant. As it is a research-oriented institute, most faculties are involved in cutting-edge research currently. So, you will get to know what’s happening in research for your respective field currently. The curricular followed by the institute is rigorous and more strict than other such institutes. The institute also offers tons of other sources of learning like seminars, internships, etc. which is an added advantage.
It is difficult to choose when the comparison is question is NISER vs IISER. Choosing one institute over another will not matter much if you stay dedicated to your studies after taking admission. NISER and IISERs offer decent academics and facilities for fundamental sciences. NISER has a great Physics department. If you are choosing an IISER, make sure it is an old one.
