The PGDM program at Great Lakes was launched in 2012 July and my friend was a part of the earliest batches. Here is a detailed analysis of the program based on some important factors
In all, the Great Lakes PGDM program is great and the institute itself offers a vivid campus life so go for it without any second thoughts.
Great Lakes, Chennai is better known for its 1-year PGPM program, while the PGDM program has not gained the same level of attention or appreciation as its PGPM counterpart. Additionally, as a relatively new B-school, Great Lakes is not as established as IMT Ghaziabad, which has a rich legacy of around 30 years.
While it's true that the batch size of IMT Ghaziabad can be seen as a drawback, if you are in the top 20-30% of the batch, your placements can be comparable to top-tier B-schools like NMIMS, IIFT, and IIM I/K. IMT is particularly known for its marketing specialization, so if you want to specialize in marketing, IMT can be considered a default choice.
For an Executive Business Analytics course, Grate Lakes will be a better option. The course structure is flexible and incorporates the requirement of working professionals. The course is delivered through a balanced blend of classroom teaching and online sessions.

Evaluation is done through quizzes, assignments, and capstone project.
Great Lakes faculty includes prominent names such as Dr. Abhinanda Sarkar (Standford alumni), and Dr. P K Viswanathan (Ph.D. from Madras University).
In terms of academics and resources, Great Lakes Business Analytics course is among the best in the country.
If you're interested in TAPMI's BFSI-oriented course, it would be a good idea to speak with seniors of that particular program for more information. However, if you're considering TAPMI's PGDM program in general, it is a pretty good option.
Great Lakes Chennai's PGDM program is relatively new, but it's already picking up momentum. The average salary package for its second batch was around 8.75 lakhs, and companies like Coke, Airtel, Lava, Snapdeal, Amazon, HDFC, Axis, Kotak, and many others recruited from the program.
It's important to note that placements are just one aspect to consider when selecting a program. Great Lakes Chennai also boasts some of the best faculty and infrastructure in India, making it a great choice for those seeking a high-quality education.
Overall, it's important to research and considers all aspects of a program when deciding where to pursue your MBA, including the course offerings, faculty, infrastructure, and placement opportunities.
Great Lakes Chennai is a dream college of many MBA aspirants but the truth is it is kind of overestimated. One of my friends who is a recent pass-out, unveiled some dark truths about the institute
These were some harsh realities about the Great Lakes that I felt anyone planning to join it should be aware of.
Since its establishment, Great Lakes be it Chennai or Gurgaon has been delivering premium quality management education at par with recent industry trends.
As per the official rankings, Great Lales Chennai ranked 31st among management institutes by NIRF 2023 and 11th among private colleges by IIRF Ranking 2023. On the other hand, Great Lakes Gurgaon was ranked 62 out of 125 colleges by NIRF in India in 2023 and it was 52 out of 125 colleges in India in 2022.
However, these rankings are highly transparent and misleading. Either the ranking parameters are not credible or the institutes refuse to participate resulting in exaggerated figures. So it's best to talk to alumni to get a better picture and don’t just rely on rankings.
Everyone has different criteria for considering an institute worthy or not. It all depends on other options you have and your financial background. Your question is subjective so I will try to answer it in the most unbiased way.
One of my cousins got admission to the Great Lakes PGDM program and because of his weak financial background, he decided to take an education loan for 12.75L. This year he will be completing his 3rd year as a professional and when asked he says that every penny he spent was worth the results he reaped. The highly experienced faculty, top-notch infrastructure, and environment justified the high fees charged by the institute.
