I have a few friends from SHUATS and they didn’t have good experiences at the institute. Here are some of the things that they complained about.
So, don’t choose SHUATS, if you have other options.
You can get admission in SHUATS at this rank but it depends on which branch you want to opt for.
The cutoff, however, differs from branch to branch.
For more information you can visit the official website of the college and find out more about vacant seats that in which branch there is a seat vacant so you can opt. Better course during counseling.
Yes, SHUATS is a recognized university. A few years back the university’s name changed to Sam Higginbottom University of Agricultural Technology and Sciences. It comes under the state government of Uttarpradesh. It is UGC approved and recognized as an ‘A’ grade university. It is also linked with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
There are some direct admissions for students on the spot admission.
Numerous students who don’t appear for the entrance exam take admission through backdoor admissions. One of my friends who were at SHUATS told me that in his class he had only 180 seats including ICAR seats but later he learned there were 216 IDs.
However, this might not be true as there is officially no management quota at the institute. You should try to work hard and get a decent rank.
Yes, SHUATS provides scholarships for OBC students pursuing B.Sc Agriculture. However, you will need to be from UP, to avail of the scholarships. Your family income also needs to be less than two to three lakhs. U.P Govt. also offers scholarships to eligible students. Other than that, the university offers fee concessions. But to get it, you will need to have connections.
It is okay for people who want to have a career in dairy or agriculture. The placement is, however, not completely guaranteed for these courses. The other courses that the institute offers are not worth the money and you will be better off in some other institute. There is a plus though, you will get a lot of time to prepare for the government sector if you opt for SHUATS.
There is no equipment and an attendance of 75% is compulsory for admit cards. The marksheet will not have much impact once you are done with the course. Money is the only agenda of the place so think again. The teachers hardly take the classes and the ones who do, do not make much of a difference.
In SHUATS, you can find students from all across the country and even students from foreign countries such as Bhutan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Russia, and students from some African countries.
Finally, opposite the library, there is the convocation field. Next to the convocation field, there is the central canteen. This is a basic overview of SHUATS.
SHUATS offers a great B.Tech Agriculture Engineering program. This program is affiliated with ICAR and it is among the top courses offered by the university. SHUATS has a decent infrastructure. Classes are regular. B.Tech Agriculture Engineering coursework is a combination of Agriculture and Machinery.
The placement record of the course isn’t excellent. According to the recent highlights of SHUATS placements around 40% of students from B.Tech Agriculture Engineering get placed. Few companies such as Mahindra, Sonalika, etc. visit the campus placements.
If you have a rank of 3000-4000, you should get admission easily in BCA at SHUATS. I have also known people who got admission with 5000+ rank. But if you don’t want to do a post-graduate then doing a B.Tech will be better. You can also do a B.Sc degree in Computer Science and pursue an MCA degree after.
Preparing for SHUATS entrance exam is an easy process. All you have to do is go through the syllabus mentioned in the prospectus. Revise it once done.
If you want to be in the rank range of 1-300 then prepare for it thoroughly. Practice and revise the basics of your subject, as it is a must. Be confident while answering the questions and make sure your answers look presentable.
