My cousin studies at SDA Bocconi Asia Center. It was known as MISB Bocconi earlier and is the pan Asia centre of SDA Bocconi of Milan. It is also triple-accredited by AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA. With all these tags to its name, you will have a world-class faculty that teaches at the Milan campus as well. This is how the program looks like-
The college has seen visits from the following companies in the past: AICL Communications, Baxter, Bostik, Catenon Worldwide, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, H&M, ICICI Securities, Kims Global, Piaggio, TCS, Universal Consulting, Vodafone India, ZS Associates, Nykka, Soulflower etc.
If your profile is strong, you'd receive a scholarship as well which will save you from spending over INR 25 lakhs for a 22-month program. However, even if you can spend that much, go ahead because you won't be disappointed.
The best college depends on an individual's preferences and their future prospects. My friend is an alumnus of MISB Bocconi and was all praise of the institute's holistic approach. Listing a few perks he told me about the semester spent in Italy that gave him exposure at another level. The institute has a diverse faculty pool with professors from every corner of the world and top B Schools like IIMs. The student crowd is also heterogeneous and enhances the learning experience. All this helps you determine your inclinations and passions.
I am not saying MISB is better than the other mentioned institutes. All I am saying is that every college caters to different kinds of students and you should look for the one that caters to your needs its better to talk to the current batch as well as the alumni to get a better understanding and then make an informed decision.
One of my friends attended the SDA Bocconi Asia Center’s interview for the 2019-2021 intake. He applied through the Bocconi Test. Following is his profile:
Particulars |
Marks Secured/Experience |
10th Class (CBSE) |
74% |
12th Class (CBSE) |
74% |
Graduation (IHM Pusa) |
74% |
Work Experience |
4 months |
The interview lasted for 15 minutes. He was asked some of the questions mentioned below.
He converted the interview. According to him, staying confident and giving honest answers helps. If you don’t know the answer to any question, admit it.
Placement-wise both the colleges give each other tough competition. Some basic differences between the two are
Specialization: SDA Bocconi has an upper hand in marketing roles whereas KJ Somaiya has the upper hand in finance roles.
Batch-size: KJ Somaiya has a higher batch-size than SDA Bocconi. Therefore the student-teacher ratio is also higher. This affects the classroom learning experience.
Fees: SDA Bocconi has higher fees( INR 18,60,000) than that of KJ Somaiya (INR 9.59 Lakhs (1st Year Fees).
So it’s up to you to decide if you are willing to pay a high fee and get the tag of a well renowned brand in Europe or pay less and get into an above average B School of India. Academic-wise the result from both the colleges will be more or less the same.
