How hectic is life in Mtech structural engineering at IIT Madras?

SD
Santanu Dasgupta Posted On : March 1st, 2022
Panimalar Engineering College

The career prospect of doing M.Tech in Quality Reliability and Operations Research from ISI Kolkata can be divided into two parts, i.e. jobs and placements. You don’t need to worry about job prospects, you will get placement offers as a Business analyst or Data scientist with a similar CTC of top b-school graduates. According to the 2021 ISI Kolkata placement highlight, the average CTC offered was INR 19 LPA.

Doing Ph.D. or higher studies can be difficult, especially if you are planning on going overseas. It’s better if you choose the Industrial Engineering domain. It will aline with QROR. If you are interested in Data Science or Machine Learning domain, you can consider doing some projects. ISI offers ample opportunities for such projects.

Which is better after graduate in civil: an M.Tech in transportation engineering from an IIT, or construction management from an IIT or NICMAR?

AS
Ajit Singhania Posted On : September 23rd, 2021
Studied M.Tech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur

IIT Delhi and IIT Madras offer a Post-Graduation in Construction Technology and Management. To secure a seat at either of the institutes, you must obtain a good rank in the GATE examination.

IIT Delhi gives more weightage to the technical aspects of the course, while NICMAR focuses more on the managerial aspects of Construction. The curriculum of the course is unmatched, yet the placements, at times, can be quite unanticipated.

Both the courses are quite equivalent to each other on various stages whatsoever. But, when the decision boils down to which among the both is better, then IIT Delhi might win the race.

Now, the Transportation Engineering department from IITs is indeed a great course. The average package some of my seniors from this course secured was about INR 5 LPA. However, by all means, your placement partially also depends upon whether or not you are typically prepared for it.

Which is better - doing M.Tech from IITs or going for NITIE Mumbai?

RK
Rishabh Khandelwal Posted On : August 13th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (2019)

Having to know some people studying in both these colleges, I can say that they are equally good. You can opt for any one of them, their respective programs are also good. They are recognized as Centres of Excellence by MHRD, Govt of India.

The choice mainly depends on the individual and their preferences. You should go for the one you are enthusiastic about.

  • NITIE offers 3 courses, where the selection is through GATE scores.
  • These include Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing Management.
  • These courses are a mixture of technical and business management.
  • IITs offer M.Tech through GATE exam scores.
  • It involves core specialization and nothing about industrial management.

So, the selection of the college and the course entirely depends on you. Go through them and then decide which will be a better option for your career.

Is environmental geotechnology (civil) branch for M.Tech at NIT Calicut good enough?

JS
Jugal Sabharwal Posted On : August 20th, 2021
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut (2020)

The M.Tech program of Environmental Geotechnology at NIT Calicut is an interdisciplinary branch.

In the first semester, you will be taught about Geotechnological Engineering and in the second semester, you will learn about subjects that are in Environmental Engineering such as Groundwater Hydrology.

All in all, this course is more towards the Geotechnical side than the Environmental side. You also have to undertake projects. Usually, most people opt for Geotechnical projects.

Talking about the prospects of the future, L&T has been the only recruiters for some years now they recruited very few students pursuing postgraduate.

If you want to teach this course in the future, then pursuing it will be a good idea. It is definitely a good course but not the best. Join if you are interested in the course and not for the NIT tag.

Aditya Anand Posted On : May 30th, 2021
M.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering & Very-Large-Scale Integration, Sharda University (

One of my friends studied at Sharda, he mentioned that as far as B.Tech students are concerned, they get a well-experienced faculty and really good placement opportunities. But, if you are considering M.Tech at Sharda, it will be a really good decision.

  • As an M.Tech student, you will get to choose various streams.
  • The college itself holds a record for being one of the best technical colleges.
  • It is also the only multicultural university in Delhi NCR.
  • Students from more than 56 different countries attend the college which will make your campus life interesting no matter which course you are enrolling in.
  • You will receive support from the professors and mentors as well as make good friends with a life full of memories.
  • The professors will provide you with a lot of support and help you develop your innovative ideas that are constructive enough to work on a real-time basis.
  • You can also expect to work in highly equipped labs and enjoy state-of-the-art infrastructure.

It is suggested to go for M.Tech at Sharda University, as it will be an enriching experience for you. My friend graduated from this college and is currently doing a very good job and is an entrepreneur. He enjoyed his life at Sharda so going by his opinion, you should definitely do M. Tech from here.

How is Jain University, Bangalore to do an MTech in civil?

KG
Kavya Garg Posted On : July 8th, 2021
Post-Graduate from Jain University (2019)

One of my friends from school is a student of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University For Women (IGDTUW). Based on what I heard from her, I can give you some idea about the institute. It is a college that is gaining a very good reputation rapidly. It is growing consistently and is almost on equal footing with institutes like the IITs, DTU, NSIT, etc.

The CSE and IT programs of the university promise placements which are lucrative. The university is on the same level as far as academics are concerned. Of course, you will be the one who will shape your future.

The university tries its best to provide exposure to the students.
