It's challenging to determine which is preferred between a PESIT VTU degree and a PES University degree, as both have their pros and cons.

PESIT VTU degree may be preferred as it has a long-standing reputation and has been around for a while. The degree is recognized by many top companies, and graduates from PESIT have gone on to secure excellent job opportunities. The syllabus is well-established and has been tried and tested for years, ensuring a well-rounded education.

On the other hand, the PES University degree is a relatively new degree, and its value is yet to be determined. However, it is independent of the VTU and provides more specialized education in the chosen field. The syllabus is enhanced, and the university has modern infrastructure and technology that can be advantageous to students.

Ultimately, it depends on what one's priorities are. If a well-established reputation and recognition by top companies are important, then a PESIT VTU degree may be preferred. However, if specialized education and access to modern infrastructure and technology are priorities, then a PES University degree may be the better option.

Studied at Lovely Professional University (2019)

As far as your question is concerned, let me give you an honest comparison between the two-degree programs. Having friends who study at both universities, I am well aware of their performance.

PESIT VTU Degree (PESIT South Campus):

  • The degree programs here are affiliated with VTU. Because of this, it is quite difficult to score in the exams, as the papers are graded across the state of Karnataka and are randomly checked.
  • The grading scheme followed is also straight/absolute.
  • You will also get fewer holidays and vacations.
  • Moreover, the internship component is a compulsory requirement of the degree under the new VTU scheme.
  • Another drawback is that students are required to maintain 85% attendance per semester. Because of this, you might not get to pursue pre-placement training activities.
  • The major plus point is that VTU is affiliated with ACU and AIU and its alumni are spread all over the world.

PES University (Old Campus):

  • Its regulations are tailored as per students’ academic needs.
  • You will be able to score easily and end up with a high CGPA since the scheme followed here is relative grading as compared to the absolute grading system.
  • Most of the students have higher chances of getting placed as they get time to prepare for placements. This is due to the flexibility of the academic curriculum and the reputation of the college among companies.
  • The drawback here is that since the university is relatively new, as a student, you might be at a slight disadvantage when applying to universities abroad for MS.

If your main focus is placements, go to PES University. But, if you have plans to study abroad in the future, choose PESIT South Campus to avoid being put at a disadvantage.
