Studied at the University of Calcutta (2018)

If you're considering pursuing a degree in engineering or science, it's important to understand the differences between various institutions and the programs they offer. Here's what you need to know about HITK, CU, and The Heritage College:

  • HITK: This institution offers a four-year B.Tech. degree program that is affiliated with MAKAUT (formerly known as WBUT). The curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in engineering concepts and prepare them for careers in various industries.
  • CU: CU, on the other hand, offers a three-year B.Sc. degree program. While it's not directly comparable to HITK's B.Tech. program, it's still worth noting that the two programs have different structures and focus on different areas of study.
  • The Heritage College: This institution offers a B.Sc. degree program that is affiliated with CU. The program is designed to provide students with a broad foundation in science and prepare them for careers in various fields.

It's important to note that comparing these institutions and programs directly is not necessarily productive, as each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. However, if you're trying to decide which program is right for you, here are some factors to consider:

  • Curriculum: Take a close look at the curriculum for each program and consider whether it aligns with your interests and career goals.
  • Affiliation: Consider whether the program is affiliated with a reputable university or institution.
  • Duration: Consider the length of each program and whether it fits with your timeline and schedule.
  • Focus: Consider the focus of each program and whether it aligns with your interests and career goals.

In conclusion, when comparing HITK, CU, and The Heritage College, it's important to consider the unique strengths and weaknesses of each program and institution, rather than trying to make direct comparisons. This will help you make an informed decision about which program is right for you.

Bachelor of Technology Information Technology, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (2016)

The B.Tech programs offered by CU are far superior to Heritage in almost every parameter.

Student Crowd:(CU>HIT)

Going by the recent cutoff trends, the closing rank for CSE at HIT is around 3.5k, whereas for CU it is around 1.1k. Many students from HIT CSE in fact shift to CU Chemical, Electrical, Instrumental during the spot rounds.

Faculty Base: (CU>HIT)

  • For branches like CSE/IT, CU has a great faculty base. There are faculties like Amlan C & Nabendu Chaki who are from Ivy League colleges. In fact, most faculties of CU did their Ph.D., Post Doc from reputed universities abroad or from institutes like ISI Kolkata, SINP, JU, etc.
  • Whereas, most faculties of HIT are CU alumni. The majority of them just did their M.Tech and started teaching.

Reputation: (CU>HIT)

CU is consistently ranked in the top 10 by NIRF. It also has a good ranking in Asia as well as the world. SN Bose, APC Ray, MN Saha are a few from the vast list of world-renowned alumni of CU.

Outcome: (CU>HIT)

  • CU has a graduation rate of around 91% which is much higher than most universities in the country including JU. The graduation outcome for Heritage is around 51%.
  • Also, research paper citation (RPI), public perception, teaching & learning resources of CU is far ahead of HIT.
  • The median CTC offered at CU is around 6 LPA. For HIT the median CTC offered is around 3.35 LPA.

Infrastructure: (CU>HIT)

  • CU offers classrooms equipped with modern facilities and air-conditioned labs. The course fee charged for the B.Tech program is 30,000, which is quite less compared to HIT.
  • HIT Campus is bigger than the technology campus of CU. However, most of the HIT campus area is occupied by other departments such as management, school, etc.

Judging by all these factors I will say CU is definitely a better option than HIT.
