Admission to MA in Sociology at Delhi School of Economics is based on merit or entrance examination scores. Only those who have completed BA (Hons) in Sociology from Delhi University with an aggregate of around 55%, can apply for merit-based admission.
Others, including students from DU, need to apply under ‘entrance’ if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria is at least 50% marks in graduation.
There are two methods to get admission into the Delhi School of Economics for an M.A. in sociology. One is based on a merit basis for a B.A. Sociology Honours student from Delhi University while the other way is for remaining students from Delhi University and other Universities via an entrance exam.
For the first process, a student must have graduated from Delhi University in B.A Sociology honors in with 55% or above marks for direct admission into the course. 50% of the total seats of 85 are reserved for admission via this method. (43 seats)
For the remaining students, the student must have graduated from Delhi University or any other University with Social Science/ Humanities as one of the subjects with 55% or more aggregate in concerned subjects. The student also needs to pass an entrance exam to be considered as an applicant for the remaining 50% of the seats (42 seats).To prepare for the entrance exam, the student needs to brush up his/her sociology subjects from undergrad and practice previous year question papers.
