Mumbai University offers grace marks if you fail in one subject in a semester. Let’s say, there are 6 subjects in a semester, and if you fail in two subjects, you won’t get grace marks. The university only offers grace marks, if you pass in all the subjects except one. The amount of grace marks allotted is 10%. If you fail a theory examination with 80 marks, then 10% of 80, i.e. 8 is given as grace marks.
If you are getting passing marks in all of your subjects in the current semester but getting below passing marks in any single one of the subjects, then the concept of grace marks is applicable. In the above case, the university provides up to 10 marks as grace. It is important to note that, if you only need 3 marks to clear that subject, they will only be allocated 3 marks as their grace mark with a ‘*’ sign.
This sign will be observed against the subject for which the grace marks have been applied. This scenario is for Mumbai University, the conditions may vary as per the university norms.
