Is PES University a good college?

People Education Society University (PES) is one of the three private universities under the name PES University, Bengaluru India. It offers 25+ courses in UG, PG, and Doctoral programs. According to the NIRF Engineering ranking, it stands at 93rd position in 2020, ranks 65th by ‘the week’ in the list of top best colleges in India. In the recent placements, more than 56+ companies visited the college, and 11 students were selected by Microsoft. Facilities like the library, gymnasium, and cafeteria.

Admission:

• Admission to all the regular courses is done through PESSAT/CET examination. Selection is purely merit-based(scored secured in the entrance examination).
• Other exams like CAT, GRE, GMAT, CMAT are also considered, subjected to the decision of the college.
• Eligibility criteria for BTech are 60% aggregate in 12th (Science Stream). A total of 1320 seats are available for BTech. MTech is 50% aggregate in Engineering from any recognized university.
• Candidates need to apply online in the university portal, the application fee is INR 1050.
• Payment can be made online either by Credit/Debit/Net banking.

Faculty:

• A good number of faculty are present including professors, assistant professors, heads of the department, and a lot more.
• All of them are highly experienced and some have graduated from IITs, NITs.
• Apart from teaching they guide, mentor students in every field.

Course Fees:

• Students need to pay a total of INR 13.2 lakh for Engineering for 4 years, and INR 9 lakhs for MBA (2 years).
• The total fee for MTech is INR 3.4 lakh for 2 years, and INR 6 lakhs for MCA (3 years) which is quite affordable.
• Day boarders will have a different fee structure as they do not avail of the hostel facility.

Placements:

• In 2019, a total of 851 job offers were made to the students and 11 of them managed to make their way to Microsoft.
• University’s training and placement cell divide the companies into Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier3.
• The highest package offered was INR 48 LPA and a median salary of INR 6.8 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Amazon, Deloitte, Flipkart.

The university also provides scholarships to economically backward students that include tuition fees, travel grants, accommodation. The university has exposure to research and development. Students can choose any of the courses depending on their choice and area of interest.
