You will need good aptitude skills to secure a decent rank in CAT. Once you are into the MBA course, you won’t need to learn things like Co-ordinate Geometry or Calculus but you need to have basic maths knowledge to understand the topics taught in MBA. This is the case for any specialization, be it Finance, Marketing, Operations, or HR.
MBA is a postgraduate business degree of 2 years involving topics on Business Administration, Finance, Sales, Marketing, HR, IT, Healthcare and many more.
Mathematics is not compulsory for students pursuing MBA. Applicants require 75% in their 10+2 qualifying exam in any stream and 60% marks in Graduation in any stream.
Mathematics is mainly required in the entrance exams like CAT as aptitude tests, logical reasoning and to test the applicant’s problem solving skills. A score of 95 (approx.) in the entrance exams is usually accepted for admission in MBA.
Admission Requirements - MBA also requires students to have strong Mathematical and Analytical skills, though they accept students from any stream like Science, Commerce and Humanities. This is an important requirement for MBA applicants.
Admission in MBA is based on the applicant’s performance in competitive entrance exams like CAT, CMAT, SNAP, XAT, MAT and NMAT. These exams contain Mathematical questions, Logical Reasoning and Aptitude Tests for which a basic knowledge in Mathematics is preferred.
B-Schools mainly require students applying for MBA to have Business acumen, Problem solving skills, an eye for detail, good communication skills, Management skills, leadership qualities and ability to work under pressure.
