How is IIM-U / IIM Udaipur?
IIM Udaipur is a premier business school on a 300-acre campus in Balicha, about 8 kilometers from the city. The campus is fully operational, with all necessary facilities such as classrooms, hostels, a library, and WiFi. The Council of Student Affairs (CSA) oversees all campus student activities and serves as a liaison between students and the administration. The campus has a diverse selection of student-led clubs and committees divided into three categories: governance and administration, functional and professional, and social and recreational. These committees are student-led and give students the opportunity to take ownership and responsibility for various aspects of campus life.
The information technology infrastructure at IIM Udaipur is first-rate, with a 1 Gbps internet connection and secure WiFi access throughout the campus. The library is an excellent source of information on management, business, and related topics. The LakeSiders sports committee promotes students' physical well-being and skill development by emphasizing values such as Ownership, Enthusiasm, Excellence, and Team Player.

One of my friends attended IIM Udaipur. Back in 2017, despite having a 99.75 percentile, he didn’t get any covert calls from the old IIMs. After a while, he got calls from all the new IIMs. After detailed research, he narrowed down his option to IIM Udaipur. According to him, the institute had lived up to his expectation. IIM Udaipur offers great academics. That’s exactly what, my friend was searching for, in a B-School. Once you convert to the institute, you don’t need to worry about anything.
Faculty:
- The institute has a driven team of faculty members. You can approach them any time to clear your doubts. They try their best to help students, no matter how silly the doubt may seem.
- Engineers generally do not get the hang of Finance easily. The professors make sure that the pace of the classes is appropriate so that everyone can understand the topics discussed in class. In fact, one of the Finance professors was my friend’s favorite faculty.
- Every faculty member is dedicated and tries their best to offers well-balanced academics along with practical experience.
Campus Life:
- The campus life of IIM Udaipur is nothing but sort of surreal. It is situated amidst valleys and mountains.
- You can get cycles on rent at the campus itself anytime, and go on exploring.
Placements:
My friend was a part of the placement committe. Placement wise the institute is doing quite well.
- Within only 6 years from its inception, it was able to host industry giants like Johnson & Johnson, Marico, ICICI Lombard, DE Shaw. Which is a huge achievement.
- It is the direct result of the foundation the institute imparts to its students. In today’s world, it is hard to find a management institute that emphasizes laying the foundation right. IIM Udaipur is one of such rare institutions. NIRF’20 has ranked the institute at 17 for MBA, which speaks for itself.
Internship:
My friend interned in one of the most sought-after FMCGs, i.e. Marico. It has been a learning curve for him. According to him, he was able to get the internship due to his time at IIM Udaipur.
He got to learn new things and apply his MBA knowledge to work. Many of his ideas were dismissed, not because it was coming from an intern, but because they didn’t have much merit. There were also instances, where his ideas were accepted over experienced professionals.
Based on the stories and experiences he shared with me, I can say with confidence that if MBA is your calling, IIM Udaipur will not disappoint you.
