Why did you join IIIT Hyderabad?
A close friend of mine wanted to join the CSE branch of IIIT Hyderabad. His JEE Main score was 276 marks and AIR 955. The JEE Advanced rank was AIR 1600. His BITSAT score was 360.
Apart from IIIT Hyderabad, he got the top NIT, Trichy CSE, and BITS Goa CSE. He didn't even go for JOSAA second-round counseling as he was sure of opting for IIIT Hyderabad CSE. His professors advised him to go for IIIT Hyderabad claiming it to be the best college for CSE in India. Its top-notch curriculum and placement scenario makes it the best choice for a CS lover. Many of his friends mocked him for giving up on BITS and NIT just for an IIIT but he has no regrets whatsoever.

IIIT Hyderabad is excellent for Computer Science related courses. If you can't get into reputed IITs or NITs, IIIT Hyderabad is the next best option.

IIIT Hyderabad is one of the top technological institutes in the country. NIRF 2021 has ranked the institute at 54 for B.Tech. It is especially good for CSE. If you aren’t getting the top IITs or NIT Trichy, then your preference should be IIIT Hyderabad.

A senior of mine scored 290/360 in his JEE Mains and his All-India Rank in JOSAA was 56. He was hoping to crack the JEE Advanced but his All-India Rank was 1386 which was not up to the mark.
He wanted CSE but there were no IITs available. Even IIT Hyderabad was unavailable. The other options that were available to him were NITs. According to his experience and other reviews, if your goal is just CSE, after the top 5 IITs, IIT Hyderabad is the best option.

Academics:
IIIT’s academics are one of the best in India. They can even be compared to IITB. The two-year core structure provided by the IIIT is highly reputed. It will help students to attain an in-depth understanding of the subject, owing to its atmosphere. You could be learning much more in two years here than you would in three years in an IIT. There is one drawback; you will study CSE-ECE courses from the beginning of the program. There will be no chances to explore other mainstream engineering subjects.
Coding:
IIIT Hyderbabd’s coding culture is highly popular. A number of coding enthusiasts study here to hone their skills in coding.
Research:
IIIT Hyderabad is one of the best institutes for research. If research is something that interests you, then IIITH will give you the opportunity to participate in a number of projects.
Extra-curricular:
However, there are hardly any extra-curricular activities at IIIT Hyderabad because there is little to no atmosphere for that to happen. Large-scale cultural problems are unfortunately not possible here because it is a small institute.
