Master's in engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

BIT Mesa, also known as Birla Institute of Technology, Mesa, is known to be one of the most prestigious engineering and technical institutes in India. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various fields of engineering, technology, applied sciences, management, and architecture.

The college has a great emphasis on research and innovation and has ties with several national and international institutions. It is ranked among the top 50 institutions by almost all the ranking agencies. However, the right choice for one person may be wrong for the other, thus making it a matter of preference. So it’s better to

  • Visit the college personally
  • Speak to the current batch and faculty members
  • Research the program you are willing to get enrolled in

BIT Mesra and all allied top colleges like IIT and NIT are not only normal colleges but institutes of national importance.

As a college BIT Mesra is a great option. Few of my friends attended the college and here are their thoughts regarding it.

  • The college campus is serene and full of greenery.
  • The infrastructure and facilities offered are great as the college has rebuilt its main building a few years back
  • Sports and gym facilities are decent. There is a separate gym in the girl's hostel.
  • The placement scenario for BIT Mesra is good, especially for branches like CSE/IT. In the 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 11.76 LPA.

Overall, it is a good college.

As per my sister’s experience, we can categorize how good the college is into the following different categories. These should help you get an overall idea about the college.

  • Academics and Faculty: While you will get a cosmopolitan crowd from all over the country coming to the college, the faculty is quite above average. Some are exceptionally good, while others are regular. Classes can get quite boring and you might have to rote learn. Attendance is also quite strict along with exams and assignments. This place is good enough if you just want to study, learn, work hard and get a job.
  • Campus and Infrastructure: The 780-acre campus is one of the most beautiful ones in the country. Mess and hostel facilities are quite good with a 24/7 LAN connection. Currently, the classes and labs are being refurbished. In the future, the entire campus will be Wi-Fi enabled. However, you might face electricity and water problems along with the fact that the campus is not located in the city.
  • Extra-curricular activities: You will find a club for every kind of interest over here. There are technical, dance and music as well debate teams and cells for entrepreneurship. These give students the opportunity to socialize but you might run into a little trouble with the administration here and there sometimes.
  • Student life: You will probably face a lot of academic pressure with old fashioned administration. Fests and clubs are somewhere you can expect to have some fun along with birthdays and outings with your friends. You should go out and socialize and make friends as much as you can. Make your memories.
  • Placements: Some top-tier companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs and other big MNCs are known to hire students here. You can expect INR 7 LPA average packages with INR 21 LPA as some of the high-paying packages. But, most of the good companies come for IT and ECE. You will have to work hard if you are not from these branches.

In my opinion, you will have a good time and learn a lot when it comes to college at BIT Mesra.
