All the companies that come to hire at MDI Gurgaon include some fixed components and some variable components in their proposed CTC, the cost to the company, the amount that the company will spend on the employee. So, when a company approaches MDI Gurgaon to recruit talent, they can declare the CTC in two ways, they can do it transparently or they can negotiate a lump sum CTC.
So, as per the information regarding CTC received from the companies by the Placement Committee, the information is conveyed to the batch. Furthermore, once the batch gets placed, the Placement Committee calculates the average/median salaries on the CTCs offered to the students and not on the fixed components. So, in this way, if we go, an average package of 18 LPA is very much possible.
However, two scenarios need to be considered here:-
If two out of three students manage to bag a package of say 22 LPA and one of them gets a package of 10 LPA, the average is still 18 LPA, however, it doesn’t guarantee that you will get an 18 LPA package.
Imagine a company that offers 18 LPA but the fixed component is just 12 LPA, however, the fixed and variable component is not told beforehand by the company due to some reasons. And the variable components can be realized by the employees only after 24 months of working with the company. So now, this again doesn’t guarantee an 18 LPA package even though it was the CTC being offered.
This happens with most of the premier colleges’ placement figures.
